The first ti Vaelrik t Gavi, he truly believed an angel had descended from the heavens.

With soft golden hair, large amber eyes, and fair skin, the small child had shyly hidden behind Sir Lysander, yet still managed to offer a gentle smile.

When Vaelrik told his mother, "He looks like an angel. He’s adorable," he had simply laughed and replied, "He really does, doesn’t he?"

From that mont on, Vaelrik had adored this angel.

On the night Gavi confessed to him, Vaelrik found himself heading to his parents’ private chambers.

He had to say what needed to be said, but his feet felt heavier than usual.

Just yesterday, his foolish younger brother, Morin, had been rude to Lord Gabriel.

What if they opposed it?

The thought gnawed at him as he hesitated before knocking on the door.

His mother and father looked a bit surprised to see him, but they welcod him inside.

For a mont, Vaelrik couldn’t find the right words.

He stood in silence, unsure of how to begin.

But he couldn’t stay frozen like this.

Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to speak with determination.

"I... I have soone I want to be with. That person is Gavi."

He declared it, his voice steady despite the nervous tremor threatening to creep in.

As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt a wave of relief.

His mother, however, looked completely stunned.

His striking black eyes widened in surprise, his expression blank with disbelief.

Did he disapprove?

Vaelrik was serious about this—Gavi was serious too.

They both felt the sa way about each other.

"Um—!"

"Wait, you’re only bringing this up now?"

"What?"

Vaelrik blinked his eyes in confusion at his mother’s unexpected response.

He, on the other hand, simply smiled warmly.

"I an, you’ve loved Gavi since the first ti you t him, haven’t you? And he’s always admired you. I just assud the two of you already knew how you felt about each other."

"I, uh..."

"Well, this is great news," she continued, clearly pleased. "Honestly, I feel relieved. As long as you’re both happy, I have no complaints. But—make sure you properly greet his family and let them know you’ll be taking good care of him, alright?"

He then raised a finger with a firm yet affectionate "Promise ."

Vaelrik had always admired how his mother could be so gentle yet so strong.

The tension in his shoulders eased, and he couldn’t help but let out a small, relieved laugh.

"I agree with your mother," his father said. "So, when’s the wedding?"

"Ah—! Not that far ahead yet! I want to take our ti first, enjoy just being together. I an... go on dates and things like that. I haven’t even thought about children yet."

"I see. No need to rush," his father nodded. "Besides, the birth rate is rising. You can proceed at your own pace. That said, since this involves royal lineage, the formal arrangents will take ti. Let us know once you’ve made your decision so we can begin preparations early."

Right... there was that political aspect to consider.

Vaelrik had almost forgotten about it.

As he mulled it over, another important matter ca to mind.

"Father," he said hesitantly.

"What is it?"

"Since... in the future, I’ll be the one to bear Gavi’s children, I’ll be marrying into his family. That ans... I won’t be able to inherit your position. I’m sorry."

A small pang of guilt surfaced.

He had been raised with care, and though he was the second son, it felt irresponsible to turn away from that duty.

He lowered his head, feeling sowhat dejected.

But his father only laughed—bright, amused, and utterly unconcerned.

"Don’t worry about it. I’m still young, and Kaelion is here too. You don’t need to concern yourself with such matters. Just focus on making Gavi happy."

"Exactly," his mother chid in. "Besides... I’m still young too, you know. I can always have more children."

His cheeks flushed as he said it, clearly embarrassed.

But his father imdiately took the comnt seriously, looking entirely convinced.

They had been trying to pace themselves after having children so quickly in the past, but their youngest, Morin, was already getting older.

And honestly, Vaelrik’s mother was still young enough to have another child if he truly wanted to.

"Well, that’s how it is. Vaelrik, live your life the way you want. Just make sure you take good care of your partner."

"Yeah, of course."

This was sothing Vaelrik was completely sure of.

He would cherish Gavi.

Protecting him had always felt like his responsibility.

...

A few days later, they had their first date.

They had arranged to et in the capital of the Black Dragon Territory, and when Vaelrik arrived, he found Gavi standing there, looking a little uneasy.

Gavi was beautiful.

His soft golden hair cascaded down to his back, and his large golden eyes glead with a gentle, sunlit warmth.

His fair skin and delicate fra made Vaelrik worry that if he applied too much strength, he might break.

When they stood side by side, Gavi was at least a head shorter than him.

"Gavi."

"Vael."

The mont Gavi’s anxious eyes t his, they suddenly lit up, blooming like a flower.

It was almost dangerous—Vaelrik felt montarily dizzy.

"I’m sorry to keep you waiting."

"No, it’s fine."

Gavi’s cheeks flushed slightly as he smiled, looking delighted.

He was so adorable.

Vaelrik felt his heart pounding as he stepped up beside him.

"So, what’s the plan for today?"

"Uh... First, let’s get sothing to eat. And then... um, what was it again?"

Dating wasn’t sothing Vaelrik had experience with, so he had done his best to research.

Apparently, starting with a al was important.

But he wasn’t good with fancy restaurants and wasn’t sure what would be best.

Soone like his older brother, Kaelion, would probably know exactly how to handle this kind of thing.

"Um, Vael."

"Huh? Oh—yeah, what is it?"

"Beyond the capital, there’s a beautiful lake. If you’d like, we could go there?"
