Before Riven could enjoy flustering him more, a nearby wolf-shifter barked, "Elliot! Hurry up!"

Elliot jumped like he’d been electrocuted, clutching his basket. "I-I have to go! S-Sorry again for bumping into you!"

Then, he ran.

Riven watched him go, grinning to himself.

"Well, well, well," he muttered. "Wasn’t that just adorable?"

The bunny MC had officially entered the chat. And now, so had Riven.

Riven strolled through the city, ignoring the blatant stares and whispers. People gave him looks that ranged from disdain to curiosity, but none dared to approach him.

The first few tis, he wondered if it was because of his ears and tail, but no—they weren’t looking at him like he was so mysterious rare creature. They were looking at him like he was a mistake.

He held his head up high anyway.

"I survived high school bullying in my world. This is nothing."

Besides, if he let the stares get to him, what kind of shaless leech to society would he be? He was a freeloader, not a coward.

And so, he had fun.

Riven made ntal notes about all the interesting places in town. There was a bustling marketplace with vendors shouting over each other, selling everything from exotic spices to enchanted jewellery.

A row of taverns lined the main street, where he spotted a few rugged-looking n who he wouldn’t mind getting to know better. There was even a little flower shop tucked in the corner—a surprisingly peaceful place in this otherwise aggressive world.

People avoided him, but he didn’t care.

After all, he had the original Riven’s mories now.

And those mories told him exactly why people didn’t approach him.

It wasn’t just that he was a half-breed.

It wasn’t even that he was disliked.

No, it was because of fear.

Riven’s father, Lord Veldrin, was a powerful and cruel man. No one wanted to get involved with his "tainted" son and risk angering him. The best thing to do, in their minds, was to pretend Riven didn’t exist.

Which, honestly? Worked in his favour.

More freedom, less drama. What was there to complain about?

By the ti he returned to the manor, the place was in utter chaos.

Servants scurried around frantically, dusting furniture that had probably never been dusted before, adjusting paintings that didn’t need adjusting, and scrubbing floors like their lives depended on it.

In the middle of it all, his stepmother stood like a queen on a battlefield, barking orders.

"Faster! You there, fix that curtain! I want everything spotless!"

Riven stared for a mont before shrugging and stepping inside. He had exactly zero interest in whatever was going on.

That was until his father, Lord Veldrin himself, stord down the grand staircase.

The mont the man spotted Riven, his face twisted in fury.

"Where the hell have you been?" he bellowed.

Riven didn’t flinch. He didn’t cower or lower his gaze like the original Riven would have. Instead, he looked his father dead in the eye and answered, "Out."

Silence.

Then—"You bastard!"

Riven sighed. Ah, yes. The classic Veldrin family greeting.

His father ranted about sha and disgrace, but Riven had already tuned him out. He turned to leave, because honestly? He had better things to do.

But then—

"Stop right there!"

Riven paused, turning back lazily. "Yes?"

His father’s face was red with anger, but he took a deep breath before speaking again.

"You’re to get ready. The right-hand man of Alpha Ronan, Troy is coming."

Riven blinked. The who now?

"He’s selecting one man from each noble family to join Ronan’s forces."

For a mont, Riven just stared.

Then, his brain caught up.

"What the hell? Is this conscription?"

Because none of this had been ntioned in the original novel. He would have rembered sothing like this.

Then again...

Maybe this was sothing that happened before the novel’s main plotline.

Which ant that he was in uncharted territory.

Riven sighed. "Fine. Whatever."

And with that, he went to his room to change.

He had to look presentable, either way, who would ask him to join? A half-breed like him being part of the Alpha Ronan’s elite squad? How laughable. This was just a formality to Riven.

After his stepbrother was selected, he could formulate plans on how to capture hot n and live out his fantasies.

He was sure that his father would send Julius too, an opportunity to get closer to their Alpha would be an advantage when Julius eventually took over the title.

Did Riven care about the title? Not in the slightest. His purpose in this novel was one thing and one thing only, top so hot n!

And when Ronan’s clan mbers co to kill him, he will be long gone by then.

After throwing on sothing appropriately noble-looking, Riven stepped out of his room—only to find soone waiting outside.

Julius.

His dear stepbrother leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his usual smirk firmly in place.

"Seems like one of us will be leaving ho, half-breed."

Riven raised an eyebrow, eyeing him up and down. "Is that so?"

Julius tilted his head, amused. "Do you think they’ll choose you?"

Riven thought about it.

On one hand, he was technically part of a noble family, and his bloodline was connected to the werewolf packs. But on the other hand, his father hated him, and the idea of sending him off to serve Ronan’s forces might actually please him.

Riven shrugged. "If they do, it’ll be their loss."

Julius frowned slightly. "What’s that supposed to an?"

Riven smirked. "It ans that if they pick , I’m going to spend all my ti seducing the mbers of Ronan’s forces."

Julius stared.

Then, his face twisted in disbelief. "...What?!"

Riven clapped him on the shoulder. "If they punish for it, at least I’ll die doing what I love."

Julius sneered and grabbed Riven’s collar, "You are so eager to go seduce other n, huh?" He pushed Riven back into his room and slamd the door shut.

With no hesitation he sandwiched Riven between himself and wall and went in for an aggressive kiss.
