Tang Xuewu’s maternal uncle, Zhang ide, also smiled at Zhang ilan.

"Oh... this..." Zhang ilan looked utterly confused, faltering at a loss for words.

"It’s just a small villa," Qin Long said with a smile, smoothly defusing the awkwardness for Zhang ilan. "Auntie Lan didn’t want to show off in front of you all."

"This..."

Upon hearing this, the mbers of the Zhang family felt a wave of sha. They had been targeting Zhang ilan’s family, but who knew they were the truly wealthy ones!

Zhang ilan gave Qin Long a satisfied look. After all, he was the one who had effectively slapped every mber of the Zhang family in the face.

"This house... did your Tang Family pay for most of it?" Tang Xuewu’s third aunt, Zhang iyan, asked with envy.

A flicker of anger appeared in Tang Xuewu’s beautiful eyes as she explained to the crowd, "The Tang Family knows nothing about it. Qin Long paid for it in full."

"What!"

In the next second, all eyes were fixed on Qin Long.

Could it be this cripple? No wonder he had the Yulong Wang Villa key card. He’s actually the buyer of this incredibly lavish mansion! But how could Qin Long, a re freeloading cripple, afford such an expensive mansion?

Although they couldn’t make sense of it, they weren’t foolish enough to ask outright and could only look on with helpless envy.

Zhang ilan sat on the white velvet sofa, an unmatched air of triumph on her face.

「Elsewhere, at the Wang Family Estate in Jiangcheng.」

Wang Ming was in the main hall, instructing an older man.

"The Tang Family’s fiftieth-anniversary celebration is coming up. Imdiately contact the dia and online influencers. Have them blast the news about my marriage proposal to Tang Xuewu everywhere. Rember, I want all of Jiangcheng to know that on the day of the celebration, I will propose to her in grand style. I’m going to snatch his beloved woman right in front of him. I can’t wait to see his helpless expression."

After Wang Ming finished speaking, the middle-aged man beside him nodded emphatically. He wasn’t worried; any problem that could be solved with money was no problem at all.

"Young Master Wang, won’t this drive Qin Long into a corner?" the butler asked quietly, his head bowed. "That Qin Long seems to have so backing."

"Haha, that’s hilarious!" Wang Ming scoffed. "Qin Long is nothing but a freeloading fool. What can he do? With that one la leg of his, he wants to compete with our Wang Family? He’s overestimating himself. Whether it’s power or wealth, we’ll crush him rcilessly!"

Wang Ming’s cold words made the butler imdiately shut his mouth.

"So what if he’s friendly with a few minor characters? Even if soone from the governnt wants to make a move, I’m not afraid. Don’t forget that Yang Xue is my distant cousin, and she’s the current Commander of Jiangcheng! Unless he knows soone more powerful than her, he can’t touch the Wang Family! Besides, even if he does, we can get rid of him before they arrive. You know what they say: even a mighty dragon can’t crush a local snake!"

Wang Ming’s expression grew more arrogant. He lifted his glass of red wine and took a delicate sip.

"You little bastard! Get over here."

Just then, his mother, Wang Xiuhe, ca jogging over aggressively, her face dark as she held out a tablet.

"Mom, what’s wrong?" Wang Ming asked, imdiately on guard upon seeing his mother’s sullen face.

"It’s a call from your Cousin Xue."

Gritting her teeth, Wang Xiuhe passed the tablet to Wang Ming.

"It’s Cousin Xue?" Wang Ming imdiately took the tablet, his expression respectful.

As the Commander for the Jiangcheng governnt, Yang Xue was in a league of her own. It was because of her support that the Wang Family had risen so quickly to beco one of Jiangcheng’s first-tier families. Therefore, they had always been extrely respectful towards her.

"Cousin Xue, it’s Mingming," Wang Ming said, bowing and scraping with the utmost respect.

"Wang Ming, whose white sword is that, really?" Yang Xue’s incredibly icy voice ca through the tablet, striking Wang Ming like a bolt of lightning.

"Cousin Xue, what sword? I don’t know what you’re talking about," Wang Ming said, scratching his head in feigned confusion.

"Very well then! I’m driving to your house right now to hand that white sword over to my superiors. Then you can just wait to be investigated!"

Yang Xue’s voice was frigid, startling Wang Ming into a shiver.

This seems serious.

Wang Ming imdiately fell into thought and finally realized what she was talking about.

It was the white sword he had conned out of that fool Qin Long for half a lollipop. He had been playing around with it back then when Yang Xue happened to see it. Wang Ming rembered clearly that Yang Xue’s expression had been very strange at the ti. She had even recorded a video of it later. That ant the sword was no ordinary item. Back then, Wang Ming had wondered if it was related to that important figure. But so much ti had passed that he had long since put the matter out of his mind. And now, Yang Xue had brought it up again.

"What’s going on, Wang Ming? It seems you really are hiding sothing from ," Yang Xue said. In the video, she slamd the table and shot up, smashing the glass in her hand.

"No, Cousin Xue, I wouldn’t dare! I’m just trying my best to rember..." Wang Ming stamred, swallowing hard and forcing a smile.

"Alright, have you rembered yet? Whose sword is it? If you lie to about a single thing, I will no longer involve myself in the Wang Family’s affairs!" Yang Xue’s pretty face was a mask of ice as she spoke in a low, severe tone.

"Cousin Xue, I really did buy it from a disabled junk collector! Even if you gave a hundred tis the nerve, I would never dare to lie to you!" Wang Ming said, his throat tight and his voice trembling.

"Where was this disabled junk collector? Around when did this happen?" Yang Xue pressed, sounding very anxious.

"He was just a middle-aged man with a crutch and a straw hat... It was about three years ago. It’s been so long, Cousin Xue, I really can’t rember the details..." Wang Ming replied helplessly, his mind racing.

He knew he absolutely couldn’t admit he’d conned it out of Qin Long. If Yang Xue found out he had lied to her, she would never let him off lightly. Besides, as the Commander of the Jiangcheng governnt, she was in a different league entirely! If she got angry, the Wang Family absolutely couldn’t withstand the consequences. His entire family would be dragged down with him. If he claid he had gotten it by chance, she probably wouldn’t make a big deal of it, even if she found out the truth later. He had to stick to his story about buying it from a disabled junk collector. That was the only way to keep Yang Xue from taking drastic asures.

Hearing Wang Ming’s words, Yang Xue fell into thought.

anwhile, Wang Ming’s heart thumped wildly as he waited.

His mother, Wang Xiuhe, also looked worried. She had never seen Yang Xue so furious. For her to start the video call and imdiately interrogate Wang Ming about this... Her own heart was pounding with tension, and her face grew pale and drawn.

After thinking for two minutes, Yang Xue finally let out a long breath.

"Wang Ming, our families are distant relatives, so to speak. Therefore, I hope you’ll tell the truth. Whose sword is it, really?"
