Qin Long tried to explain but was bluntly cut off by Tang Xuewu.
"Qin Long, listen to ," she said. "On the day of the fiftieth-anniversary celebration, I won’t accept any gifts from Wang Ming. You don’t need to compete with him for the Sky Garden, either. That day is actually the anniversary of when you ca to the Tang family, and also when we first t. I want to take you to North Asia Bay for a visit."
As Tang Xuewu spoke, she massaged Qin Long’s right leg. She planned to whisk him away on the day of the celebration to temporarily avoid the Tang family’s banquet.
"I really did want to propose to you!" Qin Long sighed helplessly, his expression dejected.
"Ah Long..." Tang Xuewu bit her lip in frustration, her back turned to him.
After a mont of thought, she turned back around. "Ah Long, I want a romantic proposal, too," she said softly. "It’s every girl’s dream... to hold hands with the one you love at a banquet filled with roses..."
Tang Xuewu’s face was full of longing, like that of a young girl. But as she continued, her eyes filled with helplessness. "But those things aren’t realistic. I’ve grown accustod to a simple life now. I don’t long for that anymore. Just being here with you while you recover, peacefully taking care of our little ho... I’m truly content with that."
Tang Xuewu bent down and carefully began massaging Qin Long’s right leg again.
"On the day of the fiftieth-anniversary celebration, I will give you a surprise," Qin Long promised, gripping Tang Xuewu’s hand firmly. "I will make everything you want a reality."
But Tang Xuewu didn’t realize how precious a promise from the Heavenly Dragon truly was. She could only nod helplessly.
"Xuewu, your mom bought sturgeon today. Co get cooking," a calm voice called out. His tone sounded slightly off.
Tang Xuewu imdiately walked over.
"I’ll give you a hand," Qin Long offered at once.
"No need, you should rest," Tang Xuewu replied. Then, suddenly rembering Qin Long’s superb knife skills, she added, "Alright then."
Tang Xuewu then helped Qin Long toward the living room.
"I didn’t win a single ga today!" Zhang ilan’s angry voice erupted from the living room. "I suspect those three old hags cheated and deliberately set up!"
Qin Long and Tang Xuewu instantly understood—Zhang ilan had lost money gambling again.
"Then why do you still go?" Tang De mocked coldly from the side. "Who else do you know who plays mahjong all day? Besides, with your skills, ilan, you could be dealt the perfect hand and still manage to lose!"
"Tang De, are you asking for it?" Zhang ilan glared at him, her face fierce as she ground her teeth. "Do you want to sleep on the couch tonight? How can you bla ? My luck was just terrible today!"
Tang De knew better than to argue and kept quiet.
Seething with rage, Zhang ilan redirected her fury toward Qin Long. "I guess I just don’t have the sa luck as other people! The Li family’s son-in-law sponsors their gambling with tens of thousands, doesn’t he? And look at , having to scrimp and save just to buy *his* diapers! What rotten luck did I, Zhang ilan, have to end up with such a useless son-in-law?" she jeered.
"Mom, stop talking nonsense!" Tang Xuewu fud. "You lose at gambling, and you co ho to take it out on others? Isn’t that going too far? Not to ntion Qin Long doesn’t have the money, but even if he did, I wouldn’t let you use it for gambling!"
"I don’t care! Grandpa only said we can’t kick him out for now!" Zhang ilan yelled at Qin Long, her face a mask of disgust. "I can still kick him out whenever I want! Qin Long, your life was saved by Xuewu. What have you brought her since then? Money? Power? Other than causing trouble for us, I haven’t seen you make any progress at all!"
The more Zhang ilan looked at Qin Long, the more displeased she beca.
"ilan, you’re being ungrateful," Tang De said, putting down his blue-and-white porcelain teacup and looking at her indignantly. "That necklace you’re wearing and the Audi you drive—did they just fall out of the sky?"
"This piece of junk necklace? I look down on it! Young Master Wang will buy a better one. Besides," Zhang ilan sneered, clenching her teeth, "he probably just mortgaged the Tang Family Ancestral House to buy them."
Seeing how unreasonable she was being, Tang Xuewu and Tang De could only shake their heads in frustration. It was clear Zhang ilan was determined to pick a fight with Qin Long today.
"Qin Long, if you have any sha, get out of the Tang family right now, understand?" Zhang ilan’s expression was full of contempt. "Don’t ruin Xuewu’s chance to marry into a wealthy family and beco Mrs. Wang!"
Tang Xuewu started to argue, but Qin Long held up a hand to stop her.
"Why would my leaving the Tang family be what’s best for Xuewu?" Qin Long asked, looking at Zhang ilan calmly.
"You’re unbelievably stupid! How do you not understand sothing so simple? With a cripple like you around, how is Young Master Wang supposed to pursue Xuewu? Once Xuewu marries into a wealthy family, she’ll have endless riches and imnse power! She won’t have to work so hard or put up with other people’s attitudes, much less wash clothes for a cripple like you. But if you insist on leeching off the Tang family, none of that can happen! She’ll still have to serve you, cook for you, and give you massages. Is that what you call repaying Xuewu?"
Zhang ilan’s expression was ugly, her words dripping with sarcasm. However, there was a kernel of truth to them.
"Power and money... I can give her those things too," Qin Long said slowly, his tone cold and haughty. "They are trivial."
"This cripple must have lost his mind. You mortgaged the Tang Family Ancestral House and now you think you’re so big shot?" Zhang ilan burst into laughter, her face full of disdain. "You have the audacity to compare yourself to Young Master Wang? Are you even worthy?"
"Qin Long withdrew ten million in cash!" Tang De spoke up in his defense.
"Heh, De, you’re so naive," Zhang ilan scoffed. "Xuewu must have taken out company funds for him to put on a show, just to prevent the family from kicking him out. Do you really think I, Zhang ilan, am a fool?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Long sighed helplessly. I have to admire Zhang ilan’s imagination. It’s a sha she isn’t a novelist. It looks like Wang Ming, Tang Chuchu, and Tang Yuxiang have already colluded with Zhang ilan. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be this determined to kick out of the Tang family.
"Don’t waste my ti with that," Zhang ilan said, waving her hand impatiently. "If you can buy an ordinary house in Jiangzhong for Xuewu, I’ll believe you. Even a sixty-square-ter place would be enough!"
Hearing this, Tang Xuewu’s beautiful eyes suddenly lit up. "Mom, how did you know? Qin Long just bought a villa and a courtyard! You’re amazing!"
The sheer excitent in Tang Xuewu’s voice left Zhang ilan stunned.
"What villa and courtyard?" Zhang ilan looked dumbfounded and sighed in resignation. "Don’t tell it’s a second-hand house?"
"No! It’s the Yulong King Villa and the Yulong Terrace Courtyard in Jiangzhong’s Jade Dragon District."
