The group continued their antics from 8 PM until 11 PM. Throughout the night, everyone sang at least a couple of songs, except for Su Qing, who resolutely refused to sing. Even Lu Lin, who had been quietly sitting on the side, sang a song.
When Lu Lin found out that Zhou Yuwen had booked a deluxe room, she showed so surprise but didn't say much, quietly observing. Eventually, she couldn't resist and lit a slender cigarette.
Li Qiang, initially interested in Shen Yu, shifted his attention to Lu Lin after Shen Yu ignored him. Seeing Lu Lin smoking, he gathered his courage and asked, "Can I have one?"
Lu Lin glanced at Li Qiang and handed him a cigarette, even lighting it for him. Li Qiang was flattered, insisting he could do it himself, but Lu Lin lit it anyway. They shared a couple of drinks and smoked together.
anwhile, Zheng Yanyan was arguing with Chang Hao over a song. She wanted to sing solo, but he insisted on accompanying her.
"Get lost," she said playfully.
"Wait, look over there," Chang Hao said, stopping her. They turned to see Lu Lin and Li Qiang smoking together.
Catching each other's eyes, Zheng Yanyan and Chang Hao approached them. Li Qiang, feeling a bit foolish, was unsure how to interact with a girl like Lu Lin, while she calmly smoked and observed Zhou Yuwen talking to Su Qing.
"Is your roommate Zhou Yuwen rich?" Lu Lin asked Li Qiang.
Li Qiang, wary of the question, shrugged. "I don’t know."
"Oh," Lu Lin replied, slightly disappointed.
Thinking it over, Li Qiang added, "Zhou Yuwen is different from us. He might be involved with gangsters."
"Gangsters?" Lu Lin was taken aback.
Li Qiang nodded vigorously but stopped when Chang Hao joined them, asking, "What are you two chatting about?"
Li Qiang fell silent, smiling awkwardly. Chang Hao casually took a cigarette from Lu Lin’s pack and lit it, showing off his sociability.
Zheng Yanyan rolled her eyes at the scene. "Lu Lin, you didn’t co to KTV just to smoke. At least sing a song."
"I don’t know how. Let Zhou Yuwen sing with you," Lu Lin deflected.
"He’s busy. You pick a song, I’ll help you," Zheng Yanyan insisted.
"I really can’t sing."
"Co on, you’re already here. Just one song," Chang Hao chid in.
"Maybe a duet with Li Qiang?" Zheng Yanyan teased.
Li Qiang quickly declined, feeling self-conscious about his singing ability. "I can’t sing well."
"Don’t force him," Li Qiang nervously glanced at Lu Lin, afraid she would refuse.
Lu Lin smiled slightly. "Fine, I’ll sing."
Li Qiang was surprised but pleased. Lu Lin, still composed, let Chang Hao pick a song for her. When asked what song she wanted, she turned to Li Qiang.
Caught off guard, Li Qiang couldn’t think of a song. He had heard "Bare-faced Beauty" but didn’t know it well. "Little Love Song" was a good choice, but Lu Lin didn’t like it.
"Do you know 'A Thousand Songs'?" Lu Lin asked.
"I’ve heard it," Li Qiang replied, unsure.
Lu Lin reassured him, "Don’t worry, just hum along. I’ll lead."
Agreeing, they picked "A Thousand Songs." When the music started, everyone was surprised by Lu Lin’s fluent Cantonese, even Zhou Yuwen, who glanced her way, impressed.
As Lu Lin sang, Su Qing playfully asked Zhou Yuwen, "Why aren’t you singing along?"
"They’re having their solo mont. I don’t want to interrupt."
Su Qing pouted, "I thought you liked to steal the spotlight."
Zhou Yuwen chuckled, "We could be friends if you didn’t always try to date ."
He ant it. Despite being his ex-wife and also reborn, Zhou Yuwen felt a need to keep Su Qing at arm’s length.
"Are you saying we can be friends?" Su Qing asked, intrigued.
"Why not? You’re pretty and fun to be around. I just don’t want a relationship right now," Zhou Yuwen explained.
Su Qing smiled, barely hiding her pleasure. "You’re such a pretender."
Zhou Yuwen laughed, "Why do you keep chasing
with all my flaws?"
"You know why," Su Qing said, looking intently at him.
"I honestly don’t," Zhou Yuwen replied, shaking his head.
Su Qing suspected Zhou Yuwen was reborn like her but didn’t press further. Despite not understanding his reasons for avoiding romance, she agreed it was better to focus on herself in this life.
"I’m planning to study abroad for a while in my sophomore year," Su Qing ntioned.
"That’s your decision to make," Zhou Yuwen responded.
Free from their usual conflicts, they enjoyed a pleasant conversation.
