If Zheng Yanyan had approached this confrontation with aggression, Tao Tian wouldn’t have backed down. But Zheng’s sudden change to a softer approach left Tao Tian in an awkward position.

Now, with Zheng Yanyan lowering her head and pleading, Tao Tian felt uncertain. What was she supposed to do, especially with so many people watching?

Tao Tian’s expression faltered, though her heart still thought, Do you honestly think soone like you deserves Zhou Yuwen?

But she couldn’t bring herself to say it.

Zheng Yanyan’s softened tone caused the entire room to fall silent.

This was a stark contrast to the image everyone had of her—a fearless girl from Beijing who wouldn’t hesitate to slap soone in public if provoked. Now, she seed so subdued.

Even Shen Yu and Lu Lin were montarily at a loss for words.

The cafeteria had grown quiet. Where heated exchanges once filled the air, there was now an eerie stillness. The bystanders stood on edge, while Tao Tian and Zheng Yanyan sat opposite each other.

Tao Tian hesitated, her heart wavering. She glanced at Qu Jing for support.

Qu Jing, ever the instigator, stepped forward. “Oh, so now you know you’re wrong? Where was this attitude earlier? Do you rember how many people were watching when you slapped Tao Tian? And what did you call her back then? What did you make others think of her?”

Her voice grew sharper. “Now you want to lower your head and end things here? Do you think it’s that simple?”

Zheng Yanyan flushed, her expression growing resentful as she glanced at Tao Tian.

Qu Jing’s words rekindled Tao Tian’s sense of justice. She’s right. Why should I let this slide?

At that mont, Zheng Yanyan spoke up, her tone subdued: “Fine, I’ll apologize.”

Tao Tian opened her mouth to respond, but Qu Jing cut her off.

“Apologize? Just like that, sitting down?”

Though clearly annoyed, Zheng Yanyan stood up, bowed slightly, and said, “Tao Tian, I’m sorry. I was impulsive this afternoon and said hurtful things. I hope you can forgive .”

Tao Tian sighed internally. She’s just a kid, she thought. Maybe it was ti to let it go.

But Qu Jing wasn’t finished. “And who’s the ‘b*tch’ now?”

“...”

Everyone stared at Qu Jing, stunned—even Tao Tian was taken aback.

Qu Jing stood tall, her narrow dress and high heels giving her a poised and commanding presence. “I’m asking—who’s the btch now?”

Zheng Yanyan’s face turned cold, but she stayed silent.

Lu Lin stepped in. “Enough already,” she said sharply. “Yanyan admitted her mistake and apologized. It’s not your place to keep pushing. This was just a misunderstanding, and it’s over now.”

Qu Jing sneered. “And who are you to speak here? Know your place.”

Lu Lin’s expression hardened. Without a word, she walked over, grabbed Qu Jing by the hair, and yanked her forward.

“Ahh!” Qu Jing scread, stumbling awkwardly in her high heels.

Before she could react, Lu Lin slapped her twice.

The room froze.

Lu Lin, calm and composed, pulled Qu Jing closer. “You wanted to know who’s the btch? Still curious?”

“Let go of !” Qu Jing shouted, trying to break free.

Lu Lin slapped her again.

“You’ve got a lot of nerve. Who are you calling a btch now?”

The crowd watched, stunned into silence.

Finally, Lu Lin pushed Qu Jing back. She stumbled and fell, her narrow dress ripping slightly as she landed awkwardly.

Lu Lin looked down at her coldly. “What business do you have ddling in soone else’s problems? Whatever Yanyan did, she’s still Zhou Yuwen’s girlfriend. Did you forget who Zhou Yuwen is?”

Lu Lin pulled out her phone. “Should I call him and tell him what you said about his girlfriend?”

“No! Don’t call him!” Qu Jing panicked, her confidence shattered.

Seeing her fear, Lu Lin sneered. “That’s what I thought.”

As the tension eased, Tao Tian sighed. “Let’s end it here. Everyone can compete fairly from now on.”

Zheng Yanyan, however, was still fuming. “This isn’t fair! Why should she stay at Zhou Yuwen’s company?”

Lu Lin countered, “And who’s going to handle her work if she leaves? You?”

Zheng Yanyan had no response.

The others couldn’t help laughing at the absurdity of it all. Even Tao Tian chuckled slightly.

Lu Lin sighed. “No more tricks or underhanded tactics. If you want to compete for Zhou Yuwen’s attention, do it fairly.”

Tao Tian nodded. “Fair enough. Everyone has the right to pursue happiness.”

She extended a hand to Zheng Yanyan.

Though reluctant, Zheng Yanyan begrudgingly shook her hand.

As they left the cafeteria, Qu Jing muttered threats under her breath. “Just wait, Lu Lin. I’ll make you pay for this!”

Ignoring her, Lu Lin walked on, while Shen Yu and the others praised her boldness.

“Lu Lin, you were incredible! I’ve wanted to shut Qu Jing up for ages!”

But others whispered warnings about Qu Jing’s connections.

Lu Lin shrugged. “Let her try sothing.”

Outside the cafeteria, Chang Hao was waiting. He had seen Zheng Yanyan arguing with Tao Tian earlier, and his heart ached for her.

“Yanyan,” he called out.

Zheng Yanyan turned, surprised. “What do you want?”

Chang Hao hesitated. Zheng Yanyan’s eyes were still red from crying, and seeing her like this made his frustration grow.

Lu Lin noticed his gaze but chose to stay silent.

“Can I talk to you privately?” Chang Hao asked.

Lu Lin didn’t think much of it. “Then Shen Yu and I will head back to the dorm first.”

“No, there’s nothing to talk about,” Zheng Yanyan said quickly, grabbing Lu Lin’s arm.

In front of certain people, Zheng Yanyan could be humble. But with Chang Hao, her disdain was evident.

At that mont, the three girls were standing on the steps of the cafeteria, looking down at Chang Hao, who stood below.

“Just say whatever you want to say,” Zheng Yanyan said coldly. “These are my best sisters. There’s no need for secrets.”

“Best... sisters?” Chang Hao repeated, his tone incredulous.
