Seeing the ssage from Zhou Yuwen, Jiang Xinyi was so furious she nearly spat blood.
Zhou Yuwen was one of the few people who could stir her emotions, but not in a way she liked. Most of Jiang Xinyi’s current frustrations stemd from You Changjin, who had turned her life into a headache. While everyone else insisted that You was a decent guy and urged her to reconcile, Zhou Yuwen bluntly said, “If you’re going to break up, just do it already. You two don’t match.”
That was the kind of perspective Jiang Xinyi wanted to hear. She even hoped Zhou Yuwen would analyze her situation further.
Who would have thought he’d be such a scoundrel?
Wait a second. Doesn’t he already have a girlfriend? Why is he still flirting with other girls?
Jiang Xinyi couldn’t resist criticizing him. Unfortunately, Zhou Yuwen ignored her.
After posting that complaint on his social dia, Zhou Yuwen did get a lot of attention from girls reaching out to him.
Unexpectedly, Su Qing was among them.
Su Qing: (Shy) (Shy)
Zhou Yuwen: Weren’t you supposed to be out with Zheng Yanyan for dinner?
Su Qing: She said she was taking the whole dorm out for a al.
Zhou Yuwen: Isn’t that what’s happening?
Su Qing: No! She left
behind.
Then she added: Let’s go to a movie tonight!
Zhou Yuwen: No.
Su Qing: (Frustrated) Why are you like this?!
Zhou Yuwen: Good horses don’t graze on old pastures.
Su Qing: ...
The conversation spiraled into playful banter. Eventually, Su Qing said sothing intriguing:
Su Qing: I’ll tell you a really interesting story if you co!
Zhou Yuwen: How interesting?
Su Qing: Super interesting!
Zhou Yuwen: Just watching a movie, right?
Su Qing: ...
Zhou Yuwen: No thanks. Not interested.
Su Qing: I’m seriously mad now!
Zhou Yuwen: Fine, fine. I’ll et you at the East Gate.
Su Qing: Got it!
Despite his initial reluctance, Zhou Yuwen couldn’t shake off so guilt. If Zheng Yanyan and her dormmates excluded Su Qing, he might as well keep her company. anwhile, Su Qing was ecstatic about the chance to go out with him.
“Heh, two rivals fight, and the fisherman gains!” Su Qing giggled to herself, so excited that she started getting ready.
At 18 years old, Su Qing was in her pri. Her outfit for the night was carefully planned: a simple white blouse with a few buttons undone, paired with sleek black trousers. She added her gold-rimd glasses, a staple of her artistic persona, to complete the “ethereal goddess” look.
Just as she was finishing up, Shen Yu ca out of the bathroom and noticed Su Qing’s effort.
“Wow, going all out for Yanyan? Are you trying to outshine everyone tonight?”
Startled, Su Qing stamred, “Uh, actually, I might not be able to join tonight...”
“Why?” Shen Yu asked, curious.
“An old high school classmate of mine is visiting. I need to pick her up at the station,” Su Qing replied quickly, grabbing her bag and leaving before Shen Yu could ask more questions.
anwhile, Zheng Yanyan had rallied a group of classmates to bolster her numbers, insisting, “We can’t lose face! She’s the Arts Departnt President, who knows how many people she’ll bring?!”
Her dormmates were fired up. “We can’t let her off so easily! She’s been parading around with those... assets, thinking she can steal anyone’s boyfriend!”
By the ti they returned to the dorm, they noticed Su Qing was gone.
“Where’s Su Qing?” soone asked.
Shen Yu, who had her suspicions but wanted to avoid unnecessary drama, answered vaguely, “She had sothing urgent to do and couldn’t co.”
“Hmph, I knew she wasn’t reliable!” Zheng Yanyan scoffed. “Good thing I didn’t count on her.”
At the East Gate, Zhou Yuwen waited. When he saw Su Qing approach, he froze for a mont.
What the...?
Gold-rimd glasses, white blouse, black trousers, and high heels—Su Qing looked like a vision of elegance and coolness.
It reminded him of the past. Back then, Su Qing used to dress like this while working as a designer, sketching away at her desk. Except back then, she often skipped the pants, pairing her blouse with bare legs.
That mory made Zhou Yuwen’s heart skip a beat.
“Have you stared enough, Zhou?” Su Qing teased, walking up to him in her high heels and lightly lifting his chin.
Clearing his throat, Zhou Yuwen replied, “Aren’t you cold in that outfit?”
“Of course I am! Hug , hubby!” Su Qing giggled, slipping into his arms like a playful kitten.
“Hey, knock it off. What if soone sees us?” Zhou Yuwen protested.
“What’s the big deal? We’re married,” Su Qing countered with a pout.
“My girlfriend seeing us wouldn’t be great,” Zhou Yuwen pointed out.
“Zhou Yuwen! Are you trying to make
mad?!” Su Qing glared at him.
“Alright, alright. My bad, okay? Let’s talk in the car,” Zhou Yuwen said, placating her and leading her to his BMW M4.
Once in the car, Zhou Yuwen’s hand casually rested on Su Qing’s leg. “Still as soft as ever,” he joked, giving her thigh a playful squeeze.
“Ugh, all I did was dress up a little and you’re already like this?” Su Qing rolled her eyes, swatting his hand away.
The two shared playful banter as they drove to the theater, where they bought popcorn and drinks before settling in for the movie.
While they were at the theater, another clash was brewing at the Fifth Cafeteria.
Zheng Yanyan arrived early, bringing her classmates along for moral support. But when Tao Tian showed up with her two friends, the difference in deanor was striking. Tao Tian and her friends, dressed to impress and radiating confidence, made Zheng Yanyan’s group look small and amateurish by comparison.
The confrontation quickly escalated into a heated argunt. Tao Tian’s friend, Qu Jing, was especially fierce, mocking Zheng Yanyan’s claims to Zhou Yuwen. “You think love follows rules? If you can’t keep him, that’s your fault!”
Words flew back and forth, tensions rising. Just as it seed the argunt might spiral out of control, Lu Lin stepped in, urging both sides to calm down.
Even so, the eting ended unresolved, with Tao Tian standing firm in her pursuit of Zhou Yuwen.
As the night wore on, Zheng Yanyan’s determination wavered, and her emotions finally broke through. Tears welled up in her eyes as she choked out, “Can’t you just leave him alone? Please... I’m begging you.”
For a brief mont, Tao Tian hesitated, caught off guard by Zheng Yanyan’s vulnerable plea.
But how this fragile truce would hold remained to be seen.
