Chang Hao stared at Li Qiang, who stood there with his hair dyed a faint yellow, wearing a white Adidas tracksuit. The overall appearance was odd, to say the least. After a mont of silence, Chang Hao couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you dressed like this?”

Li Qiang grinned sheepishly. “What do you think? Handso, right?”

Despite his awkward appearance, Li Qiang seed quite pleased with himself. After all, he’d spent over 500 yuan on this outfit on Taobao.

Chang Hao was more curious about why Li Qiang would wear such an outfit to a movie.

“Isn’t Lu Lin bringing her boyfriend today?” Li Qiang explained confidently. “I figured her boyfriend is probably older, you know, a ‘social man.’ I can’t beat him in wealth, but I have the edge of youth! I’ve got to flaunt that!”

Chang Hao was speechless.

“Hey, Brother Hao,” Li Qiang continued eagerly, “is Lu Lin here yet? What’s her boyfriend like?”

Chang Hao shrugged. “Her boyfriend didn’t co.”

Li Qiang froze for a mont but then broke into a wide grin. “So, Lu Lin ca alone?”

“Yeah.”

“Hah! What did I say? Social n aren’t reliable. I’d better hurry in and comfort her!” Li Qiang said, practically racing into the theater.

Chang Hao could only shake his head in exasperation.

When it ca ti to assign seats, Chang Hao, as class monitor, had deliberately avoided placing himself near Zhou Yuwen or the others. Instead, he gave Zhou Yuwen, Zheng Yanyan, and Lu Lin the best seats in the middle while putting himself and Li Qiang toward the side to avoid any accusations of favoritism.

Li Qiang, however, had no such scruples. After learning that Lu Lin’s boyfriend wasn’t coming, he imdiately made his way to the seat next to her, hoping to strike up a conversation.

To his disappointnt, the seat next to Lu Lin was already occupied—by Liu Yue.

“Hey,” Li Qiang asked bluntly, “is this your seat?”

“Why? Is it yours?” Liu Yue replied with equal bluntness.

“Well, no…”

Before Li Qiang could say more, the students behind him began to complain.

“Sit down, will you? You’re blocking the screen!”

“Yeah, co on!”

Chang Hao quickly pulled Li Qiang aside, whispering, “Don’t disrupt everyone’s movie experience.”

Feeling wronged, Li Qiang muttered as he sat down, “Brother Hao, this seat is awful. The speakers block half the screen!”

Chang Hao gave a helpless shrug. “I didn’t realize the speakers would block the view when I assigned the seats.”

Li Qiang glared enviously at Lu Lin, who was seated far away. Then, turning back to Chang Hao, he muttered, “You’re hopeless. You like Zheng Yanyan, but you didn’t even seat yourself near her. At least if I were class monitor, I’d be sitting next to Lu Lin right now.”

Chang Hao frowned. “Stop talking nonsense. I never said I liked Zheng Yanyan.”

“Sure you didn’t.” Li Qiang snorted. “Anyway, this seat sucks. Zhou Yuwen and Zheng Yanyan probably got great seats so they can kiss without anyone noticing. You should’ve let them sit here. Zhou Yuwen would’ve thanked you for it.”

Chang Hao ignored him.

By the ti Li Qiang and Chang Hao entered, the movie had already started. On the screen, Leonardo DiCaprio played Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby.

The class had chosen the movie thinking it was about the life of Bill Gates, with many mistakenly assuming DiCaprio was portraying Gates himself. Most of the audience was utterly confused by the plot.

Zheng Yanyan, anwhile, was thoroughly enjoying herself—but not because of the movie. She had a stash of snacks she’d begged for earlier and was happily munching away.

“Are you here to watch a movie or eat dinner?” Zhou Yuwen teased her.

“Why can’t I do both?” Zheng Yanyan replied, placing her legs on Zhou Yuwen’s lap as she continued to snack.

The movie, with its intricate taphors and symbolism, didn’t resonate well with most of the students. By the ti Gatsby appeared on screen, many had already lost interest.

Zheng Yanyan, finding the movie too slow, began to fidget. She leaned closer to Zhou Yuwen, whispering, “Hey, isn’t this Spider-Man?”

“Shh.” Zhou Yuwen gestured for her to be quiet, trying to maintain so semblance of theater etiquette.

Zheng Yanyan wasn’t deterred, instead laying her head on Zhou Yuwen’s shoulder. “You think the movie’s better-looking than ?”

Zhou Yuwen sighed. “Little ancestor, can’t you sit still for a mont?”

She grinned and pouted, leaning in for a kiss. Zhou Yuwen reluctantly obliged with a quick peck, but she complained, “That’s it? So stingy!”

“You’re not worried about being seen?” Zhou Yuwen whispered.

“Who’d be so nosy to watch us?”

“Maybe Chang Hao is.”

Hearing this, Zheng Yanyan instinctively glanced toward Chang Hao—and their eyes t.

Chang Hao imdiately looked away, but the damage was done. Zheng Yanyan quickly turned back to Zhou Yuwen, embarrassed. “He was watching us!”

“I told you.” Zhou Yuwen smirked.

“Humph! I’ll fix him,” Zheng Yanyan said, lowering herself to lie fully on Zhou Yuwen’s lap, using his body as a shield.

anwhile, Chang Hao sat stiffly in his seat, mortified.

As the movie dragged on, Zheng Yanyan continued to find ways to entertain herself—placing her feet on Zhou Yuwen’s lap, poking his chin, and even texting Lu Lin.

Eventually, she whispered, “I’m bored. Let’s step out for so fresh air.”

Before Zhou Yuwen could respond, she turned to Lu Lin and asked, “Want to co?”

Lu Lin sighed but stood up to join them.

In the restroom, Zhou Yuwen and Lu Lin crossed paths. As Zhou Yuwen washed his hands, he glanced at Lu Lin in the mirror. She smiled faintly.

“Still planning to stir things up?” he asked.

Without a word, Lu Lin stepped closer, rising on her toes to press a kiss to his lips.

Startled, Zhou Yuwen pulled back slightly, muttering, “You’re bold.”

“Scared?” Lu Lin whispered with a sly grin.

Zhou Yuwen shook his head, but their mont was interrupted by the sound of footsteps—Chang Hao entering the restroom.

Chang Hao turned the corner and froze. There stood Zhou Yuwen and Lu Lin, too close for comfort.

Monts later, Zheng Yanyan erged from the restroom, looking between the three with a puzzled expression. “Why are you all just standing there?”
