The following day, Evanna and Arawn sat inside a carriage generously provided by King Osian, which served as their mode of transportation until they reached the outskirts of the Direwood Forest. Upon reaching the forest, they would resu their usual mode of travel on horseback. Despite Midknight’s discontent with trotting on the side without Evanna, he was accompanying her back to the Flori palace, where Arawn was slated to undergo his coronation.
With intertwined fingers, Evanna gazed out the window, experiencing the comforting sensation of Arawn’s thumb gently caressing her knuckles. The rhythmic clinking of the guards’ armour and the clip-clopping of horse hooves echoed around them, accompanied by the sunlight casting its glow over grasslands and villages. People erged from their businesses and hos to catch a glimpse of the renowned royal couple, celebrated not only for their beauty but also for their prowess as warriors and heroes, aiding both elves and humans. They were the royal couple bridging the lands together.
"So, what now?" Evanna wondered aloud, watching the outside world. Axel sat on a horse to the side of the carriage where she could see him, reminding her of Ger and Ronan’s departure.
"Are you disappointed to be settling down and not joining Ger and Ronan on an adventure?" Arawn asked softly. There was no jealousy or annoyance; he was curious about his wife.
Evanna’s head whipped to the side, shocked by his words. Her shock transford into a smile as she gazed at her beautiful husband. "Our life is one grand adventure already."
"Ah yes, you will keep on my toes..." Arawn smirked back, anticipating what his wife would put him through.
"That I will," Evanna giggled and leaned into Arawn, gently kissing him and sighing, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Then... To our next adventure."
Arawn rested his head atop hers, repeating Evanna’s words.
"Our next adventure."
~ Epilogue ~
~ 20 years later ~
In the Flori Palace, many waited to hear the joyous news of the Queen’s newborn baby. Evanna had been in labour for twenty hours, and the King remained by her side. They spent days after the birth in their room, keeping their baby private a while longer, but the palace was abuzz waiting for the news of their new prince or princess. Axel waited outside their door with Garrett; he was already showing the first signs of ageing while his wife remained as beautiful as the day he t her.
There were enchantnts that could help slow Axel’s ageing. Initially indifferent to such matters, his perspective shifted when their first son, Haldor, was born- a giant figure just as much as Axel but bearing his mother’s looks, causing teenage girls ten years older than him to already swoon over him. It dawned on Axel how much more he wanted to see of his wife and children. anwhile, across the other side of the door, Axel’s ’partner,’ Garrett, didn’t have much to worry about in that sense, though he had his own drama last year when Fiza, his long-term... Well, they weren’t married and didn’t put a label on whatever they had, but Fiza returned with a four-year-old girl.
A baby girl that Garrett had no idea about. Fiza couldn’t keep leaving her with a sitter, especially when she had so many enemies, and the only person she trusted to really look after her was, well, her father. Nuae, Garrett’s daughter, lived with him now, and although he seed more awkward than anything, he tried his hardest to make Nuae feel comfortable. Fiza did visit more often, but Garrett always grumbled after she left about how much she worked and always left them behind.
Garrett and Fiza never had this issue before, but with a child in the mix, it changed his perspective. It was clear they loved each other, maybe in their own unique way. While working alongside Garrett, it had been a bit tense for a while, yet Axel was the first to breathe a sigh of relief once Garrett and Fiza reconciled.
The sudden approach to the doors made Axel stand straighter, and Garrett opened the doors and stepped back. The King and Queen walked through, looking as beautiful as usual, their attire matching, and with the small bundle in Evanna’s arms who already giggled, revealing their presence to others waiting with strained ears in excitent. Axel and Garrett followed them, remaining on guard, though the pair couldn’t help but see over Arawn and Evanna’s shoulders at the beautiful newborn baby between them.
Entering the breakfast hall, Evanna and Arawn wanted to introduce the new family mber only to the family first. The King and Prince of Dunhurst had travelled far to be here, as did Evanna’s father. Loraven stood to the side, almost jumping from foot to foot in excitent, but she remained by the table, allowing everyone else to rush forward first.
Evanna smiled softly at King William and Prince George. They had grown into fine young n and sohow without an ounce of hatred toward Evanna. They approached her eagerly, wanting to et their niece or nephew. William and George still considered Evanna their older sister even if they were starting to look the sa age as her.
Instead of the King and Prince of Dunhurst eting the newborn baby first, Osian barged his sons out of the way. His hair was now a striking white, his features looked good for his age, and his body was still in good shape for soone who still worked out daily with the sword. He happily retired the throne to his son. Now, his steps slowed upon seeing his first grandbaby.
"Who is this?" He asked. King William and Prince George fought behind him, trying to get a glimpse of the baby from behind their father.
Evanna pulled down the cover slightly, revealing soft white hair and bright green jewel-like eyes. "et Finor Thalinal Selsian Elion, prince of the Flori."
Wiping a tear from the corner of his eyes, Osian watched as Loraven approached and Evanna’s first child wrapped his little hand around her finger. They gazed at the dazzling couple who had led their kingdoms into a new era, then looked down at the beautiful baby boy with white hair and vivid green eyes.
"Prince Finor."
