Lin Xiao smiled. A Martial King Level martial artist was considered to have an uncommon level of cultivation in the secular world. But in front of him, he was nothing but trash. How could he so brazenly utter such words?

"It was you in the school cafeteria last night, wasn’t it?" Lin Xiao asked.

The other man was slightly taken aback, clearly not expecting Lin Xiao to already know. "That’s right!"

"Are you from the Ghost dicine Sect?" Lin Xiao questioned further.

The man nodded with disdain. "That’s right, I am from the Ghost dicine Sect. Today, I am here on the orders of our Tenth Hall’s Hall Master to kill you!"

"One of the four guardians of the Tenth Hall?" Lin Xiao probed again.

The man’s voice turned cold. "You seem to know quite a bit!"

"Can’t be helped. Your Tenth Hall’s other three so-called guardians are already dead by my hand. Although your Hall Master is a fool, he wouldn’t send just any trash to deal with . Of course, to , you’re still trash."

A cold glint flashed in the man’s eyes as he stared at Lin Xiao with murderous intent. A worthless beggar dares to run his mouth like this and show such disregard for the Tenth Hall? He couldn’t swallow this affront.

"Kid, you’ll soon pay the price for your arrogance!"

"What’s your na?" Lin Xiao suddenly asked.

"I’ll tell you when you’re dying!"

Lin Xiao smiled. "No, what I an is, I don’t kill naless people."

That remark completely enraged the man. "Damn it, kid! You’re so arrogant! Then rember this well, my na is Wang Dachui. Don’t you forget it when you go to see King Yama."

"Noisy!"

SPLAT!

The mont the word left Lin Xiao’s lips, Wang Dachui’s head instantly exploded. A re Martial King Level martial artist actually dared to act tough in front of him? Wasn’t this just asking for death?

Just after he had disposed of Wang Dachui’s body, Pei Donglai returned with food and wine. When he saw the corpse, Pei Donglai’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. He was, after all, a man forged on the battlefield. His composure was sothing an ordinary person could never match.

"Captain, you go ahead and start drinking. I’ll handle this."

"No rush. Let’s drink together after you’re done," Lin Xiao said nonchalantly.

Pei Donglai grunted in agreent. He worked quickly, and in no ti at all, he had neatly dragged Wang Dachui’s body out of the security office.

By the ti Pei Donglai returned, the food had almost gone cold, but neither of them cared. They began to drink, pouring one cup after another.

After three rounds of drinks, Pei Donglai said with a serious expression, "Captain, a commander from the Western Region Warzone called last night."

"Oh? That’s good. You really don’t need to hide. Frankly, you’ve made significant contributions to the country. You deserve the special care the nation provides."

Pei Donglai nodded. "The commander also said I could make any request I wanted, but I didn’t ask for anything, Captain. I’m living quite well now. He said I was welco back at the warzone anyti, but I told him I don’t want to go back for now."

Lin Xiao had known this would be the result. Pei Donglai’s character was not sothing ordinary people could compare to.

"It’s a pity. Our border has lost a War God who made our enemies tremble in fear," Lin Xiao said with a smile.

Pei Donglai fell silent.

Lin Xiao continued, "Don’t feel burdened by it. If you don’t want to go back, then don’t. Like you said, the way things are now is pretty good."

Pei Donglai nodded again. "Captain, if the ti is right in the future, I will go back."

"Alright. I support you."

The two of them drained their cups.

Pei Donglai was not a talkative person. In fact, he had an extrely rigid personality. Lin Xiao was in a bad mood today, so he didn’t say much either.

When the two bottles were empty, Pei Donglai suddenly asked, "Captain, do you know what’s wrong with Yanzi?"

Lin Xiao was taken aback for a mont. "What’s wrong with Yanzi?"

"When I got back last night, I saw her eyes were swollen like peaches. She must have been crying," Pei Donglai said, a hint of pain in his eyes. It was no exaggeration to say that Pei Yanzi was his whole world. Seeing his sister so upset naturally made his heart ache.

Lin Xiao, however, was even more confused. "Crying? We had dinner at her school last night. Halfway through the al, she suddenly said she had sothing to do and left. I called her later, and she told nothing was wrong."

Pei Donglai glumly tossed back a mouthful of wine. "I asked her too, Captain, and she said the sa thing. But I know my sister. She wouldn’t cry like that unless she’d been truly wronged."

"You don’t think I’m the one who wronged her, do you?" Lin Xiao asked with a teasing smile.

Pei Donglai’s face instantly turned ghostly white. He looked at Lin Xiao in a panic and said, almost swearing an oath, "Captain, I—I didn’t an that! I really didn’t! I’m just worried about my sister, but I don’t know what happened to her!"

"I’m just ssing with you. We haven’t known each other long, but I understand what kind of person you are. You might not fully understand what kind of person I am yet, but you can rest assured. I can’t make any other promises, but I’m at least no longer the type of person who bullies n and preys on won."

"Captain, I believe you! I didn’t an to bla you at all, I..." Pei Donglai stamred, trying to explain.

Lin Xiao waved his hand dismissively. "I know. I already said I was joking. Don’t worry, I’ll have a good talk with Yanzi later and see what’s really going on."

Pei Donglai nodded gratefully. "That’s actually what I was hoping for, Captain. I thought she would probably be honest with you. After all, Yanzi has said more than once that you’ve been exceptionally kind to her. Every ti she ntions it, her eyes just light up."

Lin Xiao smiled. "Alright, I’ll ask her for you later."

After they had finished off a third bottle of liquor, their lunch ca to a close. Though they had each drunk over a pound, neither of them was any worse for wear. They were, after all, martial artists of considerable cultivation.

Pei Donglai left to supervise the construction work, while Lin Xiao stayed in the security office, sipping tea.

The afternoon security office was quiet.

Lin Xiao closed his eyes, his mind at ease. He enjoyed these monts of peace. Back in the Kunlun Mountains, whenever he was in a bad mood, he would go to the summit, lie on the ground, and stare blankly at the sky, which seed so close he could touch it. Speaking of which, this was the first ti Lin Xiao had felt hosick since leaving Kunlun for so long.

Just as Lin Xiao was thinking about finding a place to clear his head, his phone rang. Seeing it was Shen Jingzhe, he answered. It was a rare occasion for this girl to call him.

"Where are you?" Shen Jingzhe asked coldly.

"A bar. What’s up?"

"Your wife is being bullied!"

BOOM!

Lin Xiao’s mind seed to explode. "What do you an?"

"You’d better co to Chunyu Pavilion and see for yourself!"

With that, Shen Jingzhe hung up.

Like a bolt of lightning, Lin Xiao raced toward his sports car.
