Quiet. Deathly quiet. So quiet it was as if nothing else existed between Heaven and Earth.

The mont his big brother fired the gun, Bai Chengfeng’s entire body trembled with excitent because he knew the stinking beggar was dood. But now, he looked as if he had seen a ghost. His already pale face beca even paler, his eyes filled with shock.

The dozen or so n in military attire had the sa reaction. Yet Bai Chenglong was more shocked than any of them, shocked as if he had seen an alien. His eyes, once full of murderous intent, were now bulging like copper bells, his gaze filled with disbelief.

He could never have dread that the beggar in front of him could actually catch a bullet.

What level of terror must his cultivation have reached?

Bai Chenglong dared not entertain the thought further.

Indeed, Lin Xiao had caught the bullet. Although ninety percent of his cultivation was currently stored within Su Qingning’s body, he was still in the Divine Martial Realm. For soone of his realm, catching a bullet was hardly a difficult feat.

He casually tossed the bullet onto the ground. As he looked at Bai Chenglong and the others, his eyes suddenly erupted with a terrifying cold glint.

Frightened, Bai Chenglong involuntarily took a step back.

What a terrifying gaze. It’s like that of a ferocious beast, or perhaps an abyss.

Bai Chenglong was not an unworldly man; in fact, he had t many powerful figures over his years in the military. Yet he felt that none of those magnates had eyes as sharp as this stinking beggar’s. The man’s gaze was like a knife, seemingly ready to stab him to death.

The instant their gazes t, Bai Chenglong’s heart hamred wildly in his chest, a chaotic rhythm born of uncontrollable panic.

"Follow !" Lin Xiao suddenly said, his voice cold. It wasn’t loud, but it carried an irrefutable command.

Bai Chenglong subconsciously began to walk, following Lin Xiao into the security room. He himself didn’t know why he was obeying a beggar’s orders.

Once the group was inside, Lin Xiao said coldly, "Close the door!"

That’s right, Lin Xiao was about to unleash a massacre, and doing so at the entrance of the bar was out of the question.

The mont the door closed, Lin Xiao’s gaze fell on Bai Chengfeng’s face. The sharp look made Bai Chengfeng instinctively lower his head.

There’s no other way. Lin Xiao’s gaze is simply too terrifying. It was so terrifying that Bai Chengfeng felt as if soone were frantically stabbing his heart with a knife.

Lin Xiao asked coldly, "Bai Chenglong, how many years did you spend in the Western Region?"

"Nine years!" Bai Chenglong replied.

"And in nine years, you were molded into soone who can’t distinguish right from wrong?" Lin Xiao’s voice grew even colder.

A sharp glint flashed in Bai Chenglong’s eyes. "What do you an?"

"I’m asking you, if soone placed a voodoo curse on your wife, intending to control her, what would you do?" Lin Xiao countered.

At these words, Bai Chengfeng’s face grew even paler, and his body couldn’t help but tremble.

Bai Chenglong was stunned. Although he didn’t know why Lin Xiao was asking such a thing, he still responded, "Naturally, I would teach them a harsh lesson, perhaps even kill them directly. But I don’t understand why you’re asking this."

As a soldier who had killed on the battlefield, he certainly possessed a ruthless streak. Bai Chengfeng, however, was so shaken by these words that he nearly collapsed. He knew his older brother, Bai Chenglong, quite well. Although his brother doted on him and couldn’t stand to see him bullied, he also despised evil with a passion, especially since he served under the War God of the Western Region—a man known for his strict military discipline.

Lin Xiao sneered. "Because that’s exactly what your brother did!"

Bai Chenglong was startled, his gaze shifting instantly to Bai Chengfeng. His own brother had told him that a beggar was throwing his weight around and bullying people, and that he had been victimized quite badly. That was the only reason Bai Chenglong had decided to return and back him up.

"Is what he said true?" Bai Chenglong asked, his voice extrely cold. It was clear he was genuinely furious.

"Brother, I... I... when I did that, Su Qingning hadn’t married this stinking beggar yet!" Bai Chengfeng stamred, his body trembling as much as his voice. He had no choice; he knew his older brother too well. The man was a person who despised evil.

SMACK!

Bai Chenglong delivered a heavy slap. The imnse force instantly knocked Bai Chengfeng to his knees, the pain so intense it almost made the trash faint. Despite the excruciating agony, Bai Chengfeng clutched his face and kept his head down without a word.

This scene took Lin Xiao by surprise; he hadn’t expected Bai Chenglong to hit Bai Chengfeng, let alone with such force.

This guy is actually quite righteous.

But just then, Bai Chenglong’s gaze fell upon Lin Xiao, his eyes as forbiddingly cold as ever.

"I am sorry for what my brother did. I have also punished him. So, let’s put an end to this matter here!"

These words made Lin Xiao laugh.

And here I was, thinking this Bai Chenglong was a righteous man. Turns out it was all an act. Then again, it makes sense. He’s Bai Chengfeng’s older brother; how could he possibly be fair and just? I was naive.

Lin Xiao had originally thought that if Bai Chenglong were truly an upright person, he would have let him off the hook today. Since that wasn’t the case, there was no longer any reason to show him rcy.

"What are you laughing at?" Bai Chenglong suddenly barked coldly.

Lin Xiao’s laughter had clearly irritated him. Undeniably, seeing Lin Xiao catch a bullet with his bare hands had been shocking. However, the shock wasn’t about the feat itself. What stunned Bai Chenglong was that a re beggar—a man of such lowly status—could possess such an ability. In other words, he wasn’t shocked by the level of cultivation required. Bai Chenglong was a Martial Artist himself, at the Martial King Level, and catching a bullet wasn’t a particularly difficult feat for him either.

"So, you still intend to stand up for Bai Chengfeng?" Lin Xiao retorted with a sneer.

"That’s right. My brother may have done wrong, but he is ultimately a mber of our Bai Family. Besides, you poisoned him. Hand over the antidote imdiately, or this day next year will be your death anniversary!"

"I’m afraid that even if I hand over the antidote, you still won’t let go, will you?"

"Correct. Anyone who wrongs our Bai Family must die. Don’t think I can’t handle you just because you have so cultivation. Boy, in the face of absolute power and background, you’re nothing but trash, a maggot," Bai Chenglong said coldly.

Lin Xiao was amused by the remark.

One would have to be brain-dead to say sothing like that.

Just as he was about to speak, a placid voice suddenly ca from outside the door.

"Bai Chenglong, long ti no see."
