Whatever enmity the two of them had between each other needed to be put on the back burner while a threat to both of them like Grindelwald was free. Nick might really dislike the old wizard but even he knew how bad any sort of internal conflict would be at the mont. Nick rely stared the old man down before mouthing the words "Leave alone" and turning away. Dumbledore sighed in relief as Nick had basically just told him that so long as he wasn't dragged into it by him he would ignore his existence.-
This was not the optimal outco but considering a much he had wronged the boy Dumbledore considered it perfectly acceptable. Nick anwhile knew that he needed to increase his power considerably now. This didn't an not further solidifying his foundation but rather starting to build on it as well. While his lightning spell was powerful it was also easily blocked or dodged as it was very much straight forward in it's attack angle. Most spells also fell into this category but there were exceptions. For example the killing curse couldn't be blocked by any spell and needed a physical barrier to block it.-
The best defense against the curse was transfiguration but due to the difficult of using the art in combat most simply opted for dodging instead. What Nick had in mind however would very much count as a war cri as he wanted to modify the smokescreen charm to create poisonous gas instead of normal smoke , like mustard gas. This was definitely chemical warfare and in muggle law would get him arrested imdiately. The wizarding word however didn't have such problems as the law for self modified spells was that a ruling had to be made against the spell before it could be banned.-
This ant that unless he used the spell again after it was banned he could get away with casting it scot free. At most he would be labeled as soone dabbling in dark magic after the ruling , if any ruling was made at all. Even better was that Nick had a very large list of spells that he could modify in so way to make them combat viable. Nick didn't doubt that with the right effort throughout the rest of this year he could at the very least make a nuisance of himself to most wizards.-
Dinner ended and all the students headed to the dorms while worried for the future. Ti passed after that and besides the fact that astronomy had been moved to midnight on Fridays everything proceeded as per normal. During this ti Nick hadn't hung out with his friends very much as he was busy making preparations. He of course didn't just ghost them without any heads up but had explained this to them so they were very understanding. He had crafted a rather unique piece of equipnt during this ti that drew a lot of attention but was easily the most powerful thing he had ever made.-

This was Nick's first attempt at creating a multilinked enchantnt and it turned out fairly well in his opinion. The ankle ring jingled with each step he took but that was a small price to pay for what was effectively an insta stop ability to any attack made on him. The way he created this item was by enchanting each and every individual ring with a separate incomplete portion of the total enchantnt before finally liking them together to get the sum of it's parts. He had also been working diligently on his mindscape for at least one hour each day.-
This paid off as he now had a total of twelve permanent fixtures in his mindscape and his conjured environnts were lasting much longer before totally collapsing. Today was Halloween and much like in the original story Ron snapped at Hermione during charms class and she finally broke down. Nick was rather suspicious how such a simply thing was what kick started the events that would follow with Ron and Harry rescuing the girl and her llowing out. This hadn't happened yet but co dinner ti Quirelmort put on his whole "troll in the dungeon!" performance and the two slipped off to find her.
