Fortunately, Kim and the head courtesan, ng, were close by, enough to have heard Isaac scream, and rush to his aid.

Kim burst the door open and they forced their way in, only to et Isaac sweating profusely and gasping for air as his chest heaved.

"Are you alright?" ng asked, hurrying to his side and rubbing his back in an up and down movent to calm him down.

Isaac looked at him and nodded. "Yes. I’m fine, ng."

He turned to Kim, having noticed the worried look that he wore.

"I said I’m fine, Kim," he said with a chuckle.

Isaac tried to lighten the tense atmosphere that was created but this was one of those few tis where his friendliness was not going to have much influence. Maybe to him it was just a nightmare but Kim and ng were very worried because whatever would have made him scream so loudly was sothing serious.

"Are you sure?" ng asked, pressuring Isaac to reveal how he truly felt at the mont.

He turned towards her and held her right cheek in his palm, peering deep into her brown eyes and with a smile, Isaac opened his mouth and said the sa thing he had always said, "I... am... fine."

ng continued to rub his back regardless while sparing him a look of dissatisfaction.

"Do you want anything? Anything at all," ng asked again. She was trying her best to see how she could help with Isaac’s situation. Having known Isaac for a while now, ng knew that in as much as he was jovial with everybody, most people still didn’t know him as a person.

Isaac was extroverted but hardly talked about himself or his problems. Sothing that ng wished that he could do more often as ti passed. But it seed that even marriage had not changed that part of Isaac, or at least hadn’t gotten to that part yet because Isaac had changed noticeably in terms of his physique from what she could see.

Even though the atmosphere was tense and their current situation was a serious one, ng could help but thirst Isaac. His body was divinely crafted and he was topless, exposing every fibre of his muscle that he chiseled himself through years of consistency. She felt the bulk of his arm when she wrapped hers around it and instead of making Isaac feel safe, ng felt safe.

Unknowingly, she bit her lips and her eyes carefully followed the beads of sweat that trickled down from Isaac’s face to his chest, moistening his muscles.

"ng," Isaac called, snapping his fingers in her ears.

"Ye-Yes!" she exclaid and imdiately rose without even knowing why Isaac had called her.

"Do you want anything?" she asked Isaac as they exchanged eye contact.

ng was now acting weird and for reasons that Isaac couldn’t figure out at the mont.

"No, ng. I’m alright," he reiterated. "But thank you guys for coming."

"Psst," Kim mouthed to ng. "Psst. ng. Let’s go. Let the man have so rest."

ng stood up and joined Kim but couldn’t help but look back at intervals as they walked towards the door of Isaac’s room.

With the door shut behind them, Isaac finally got so alone ti to process what the angel, Diana, had told him.

He looked towards his window and sighed. "What the hell was that? No way that was real."

Isaac smacked his forehead. "What are you even saying, Isaac Winters? It was a nightmare. Of course, it can’t be real."

He glanced at his bed and pillows. He wanted to go back to sleep but the thought of having such an encounter again made him rethink it.

Isaac let out a frustrated sigh. It was only the middle of the night and he was going to be miserable until the cock crows in the morning. Anyways, he laid back on the bed with the hopes that sleep would co to court him again.

****

The cock crowed and the sun was gradually rising over the horizon.

Isaac, who was sitting up against the head of his bed, opened his eyes slowly and turned his head towards the window to witness the break of dawn.

His eyes were heavy and half shut from lack of sleep. He hadn’t slept properly since leaving Bambara village to co here. Turning his neck sideways many tis, Isaac trying to relieve the strain and tension that was around his neck.

"Hmmm," he moaned satisfactorily with a crack of his neck that seed to put everything into perfect shape.

Isaac stretched his arms over his head, hearing yet another crack that ca from his shoulders, a stream of pleasure flowing through his veins with bettered circulation.

Isaac got down from his bed and cleaned himself up before stepping outside.

He had his small bag in his hand and as he approached the central hall, he t several staff of the inn dining and he stopped to look around.

"You’re awake," ng said, approaching him and holding his hand. She looked him in the eyes, not out of lust but concern, having noticed the slight darkening underneath his eyelids.

"Do you sleep well?" she asked.

"I will do that when I get ho. Right now, I have to go," he answered. "Do a favour, ng."

ng nodded. "Anything."

"Please, tell Madam Tai that we will have to reschedule, I’ve got so personal issues to handle."

Isaac was about to zoom off when ng grabbed his hand again. "Why are you in so much haste, Isaac? Are you okay?"

Isaac faked a smile and nodded. "Yeah. I’m alright but I have to go. I will make it up to you all next ti."

With that, he hurried out of the central hall and stepped into the open compound of the inn.

Isaac found his way around and brought out his cart as he departed the inn and the Herb village at large.

He needed to get back ho more than ever and if he could travel any faster than he was already, certainly Isaac Winters would have.

In as much as he wanted to dismiss his eting with the angel as a re occurrence in the dream world, this incident constantly plagued his mind. He feared he would lose it soon if he didn’t act on it.

With a light crack of his whip and a pull on his bridle, Isaac commanded his horses to move faster.

"Hyah!"
