Klaus directed his gaze back at the rest of the students who had fear instilled in their eyes. Even Kaori dared not face him, not after how he handled Mason.

"I-is this power... Of the A-rank Spirit Caster Klaus?" Christopher, with a wavering voice, questioned as he held his midsection, groaning slightly in pain.

"That was incredible professor Klaus! I now see why they call you the wild beast of the 3rd division." One of the students said, complenting his achievents.

The Five divisions.

It was one of the most respected organizations in the kingdom, an elite force made up entirely of elite Spirit Casters. It existed for a single purpose, to hunt, restrain, and destroy spiritual beasts before they could enter the world through the gates.

They were not part of the Spirit Caster’s Academy, but a disciplined military body. Every mber had already awakened their spirit core and undergone rigorous training. Only the most capable Spirit Casters were accepted, and even then, many never survived their first real mission.

It was the true goal of every spiritual caster that passes through the academy.

"Oh? You aren’t going to try your luck? This is the only way to pass this exercise." Klaus replied, chuckling as he couldn’t get over the complint he was given.

"Not really, who knows what might happen if I end up fighting you." Like a woman’s mood, the boy’s voice took on a chilling edge, each word dripping with an icy detachnt that sent shivers through the air.

The warmth of his earlier deanor vanished, replaced by a palpable tension. His eyes glead with a predatory intensity, narrowing as a smile twisted his lips.

"So I’ll pass!" As swiftly as his expression changed, it returned to his cheerful deanor from earlier. Leaving the A-rank Spirit Caster puzzled. ’This boy...’ He thought, slightly worried about his sudden deanor.

His na was Victor Elwin, he was one of the top scorers from the Spirit Caster’s exam, bagging a total of 87 points.

The expression of the other students showed fear, they doubted their abilities the mont they caught a glimpse of Klaus’s capabilities.

"Defeat doesn’t start by losing the battle, it starts the mont you begin doubting your abilities and losing the will to fight. I hope you overco this before it’s too late, that’ll be all for today." He announced, dismissing the students.

"Seth! That was amazing!" Snapping out of their previous deanor, several mbers of the class approached Seth. The hole in the ground was enough testimony to the power he attained, and they viewed his power as the most superior.

"You alright?" Maximus asked, offering Mason a hand.

"Yeah, I didn’t expect Klaus to be that fast, honestly it’s exhilarating." After experiencing firsthand the power of Klaus who was just an A-rank Spirit caster, he beca even more thrilled, now his quest to get stronger had a more defined purpose.

"That’s Professor Klaus for you." Maximus replied. "I’m Maximus, pleasure to et you."

"Mason Harris, the pleasure is all mine." Mason said, receiving his aid as he pulled him to his feet.

"Nice match." A voice spoke behind the two boys, and as they turned, they were t with the hand of Seth extended forward for a handshake.

At first Maximus felt conflicted, and his eyes said it all. It looked like they had history, but before he could say anything, Mason extended his own hand forward.

As the students left the courtyard, Klaus approached the small hole created by Mason’s Pulse Wave technique. As he gently stepped at the corners of the hole, the surrounding grounds nine ters from it released a crackling sound.

Alard, Klaus leaped into a backflip as the ground underneath him shattered in sync.

As he landed on his feet, he gazed at the hole with disbelief. Elias had inford him on the details of each students skills and abilities, but this was sothing else.

"That boy, Mason was it?"

His eyes glanced down at the 8 foot deep crater created from the dispersion of Mason’s [Pulse Wave]. "There’s no way that kid is a D-rank Spirit Caster, not by a longshot."

..

"Man that was aweso, I was frightened by the power of Klaus but you along with Seth and lower sector street rat went at him!"

After the battle and during a brief break, four students were gathered in the classroom. Seth, a boy and two girls, presently they completed their training for the day with Seth leading the session, the two core stages developnt.

"Yeah, you almost took him down, I’m sure you will next ti." Besides Seth were his two cheerleaders who continually praised him due to their obsession with him.

They neglected the fact that he had help while they cowered in fear like children, it was frustrating, but he had no choice but to keep them in check.

"It wasn’t just Seth you know, Seth and the kid from the lower sector played an important part in that exchange." The second boy — Darius chid in, his eyes narrowed, and his lips pressed into a thin line. Once again, they missed the main point.

"Weren’t you watching, you saw what Seth’s technique did to the ground. He was the most capable in defeating Professor Klaus." One of the girls, Mira growled, refusing to accept his point.

"No, I can’t beat him on my own with the level of power I have, not to ntion Seth and that kid played a vital role in that training session. If anything I really didn’t do anything much without the distraction both of them created for ." Seth summarized the battle at once, laying it out for his team.

"Indeed, as expected of soone who awakened an A-rank Spiritual-Type, you have quite the perception. Though I can’t say the sa for the rest of your team." Maximus’s voice broke through the murmurs of the four students, clear and unexpected.

The group turned sharply, their faces a mix of surprise and confusion, eyes widening as they caught sight of him.

"Maximus." Seth whispered, and slowly got up to his feet. He never expected Maximus of all people to show up here.

"Hey!" Both girls exclaid, feeling offended by his remarks. They also thought he was trying to pick a fight.

"What do you an by that?" Darius asked, confused by his statent.

"I’m sure you realized it after shaking hands with him didn’t you Seth?" Maximus said with a blank face. He wasn’t particularly fond of him or his teammate.

The two boys belonged to the six great noble families, and their families were rivals with each other, and passed down that rivalry to the next generation.

"Huh!?"

His words left them even more puzzled, Seth on the other hand, was lost in thought as he recalled the mont he shaked hands with Mason.

"Just what are you talking about you damn ba-"

"Silence." Maximus said, rudely interrupting Mira.

"Language please, you both were distracted so much that you failed to pay attention to the main man of that match, Mason Harris."

"What? Is your na and status just for show? You actually thought that street rat could stand a chance against professor Klaus? Don’t tell you didn’t witness what Seth’s technique would have done?"

"Actually." Seth’s cut in, finally ready to share the experience he went through. "As I grabbed that kid’s hand, I felt... Well a strong force that threatened to overpower my hand." He said, squeezing his right hand tightly.

"Huh?"

"Let put in simple words since you don’t have to knowledge to understand, the channeling of Spiritual energy into any part of the body that results in a phenonon is known as Spiritual-Technique. To use a Spiritual Technique, the principles of the amplification core stage and the enhancent core stage are applied. To amplify is to channel one’s Spirit-Energy and to convert that energy into a Spirit-Technique is to enhance the Spirit-Energy."

As Maximus turned around to leave, Seth stopped him imdiately. "Wait, what are you trying to say?" He asked, standing face to face with him at the entrance of the class room.

With a sigh, he turned his head over his shoulders and glanced at him before speaking in a low tune.

"For a spirit caster that calls himself the son of one of the six great noble families, your perception is poor. What do you think happens when a Spirit-Technique has been over amplified before it’s enhanced? And why is one’s Spirit-Energy over amplified in the first place? And more importantly, do you know where Mason is now?"

His question left him speechless, every day was a new lesson to him and apparently, this particular lesson was directed specifically towards one person.

Thanks to his ability, Maximus was able to justify what had truly occured during that battle.

"If I were you, I wouldn’t see Mason Harris as just another kid from the lower sector."

With his final words, he left the classroom.
