Chapter 635: Showing Off?
“Everyone, get back!” Dong Geming yelled at the team when the hollow fell back and prepared to let out another roar. Seeing that the hollow was going to attack them once again, Dong Geming turned the gloom deflection feature on in her suit and hid behind a wall. Everyone followed suit and started hiding one after another. They turned on the deflection system of their suits and tried their best to avoid the roar.
However, this hollow was at least on the fifth or sixth level. Thus, even with the deflection system being turned on, they were still brought down to their knees. Even Dong Geming, who was an A-rank hunter, felt all kinds of thoughts surge to her head. From being abandoned to being taken in by her uncle’s family, who tried to mooch off her until the very end. The anger and rage that she had felt back then surged to her heart, and she wished she could kill those who had wronged her.
The anger got to her head, and just as she was about to charge out like a bull, the roar that was causing her to lose her mind vanished and replacing its place was an anguished roar. Dong Geming’s mind turned clear, and she raised her head to look in the direction of the hollow. “Leader ifeng! What are you doing here?” Dong Geming was surprised, and Bai Shiliu was even more surprised, as she had never seen Shi ifeng making a move. So what was this woman doing here, and how co she was so unbothered by the roar of the Hollow? Was this the real strength of an S-rank hunter?
Shi ifeng jumped down from the building on top of which she was standing. She glanced at Dong Geming and calmly stated, “What else do you think I am doing? I was asked by the council to co here and deal with this hollow, as you were taking too much ti.”
Dong Geming’s face stiffened when she heard Shi ifeng’s response; she turned and glanced at Bai Shiliu, whose expression wasn’t any better either.
Dong Geming straightened up. She raised her head while clutching her arm that had been injured by the hollow earlier when she went to attack its leg. She had tried to dodge it, but the hollow, despite its size, was rather quick. It still caught her before she could attack it.
“You do know that this could lead the two guilds to beco potential enemies,” Dong Geming said to the woman coldly. The hollow breakout happened in their territory, and they hadn’t called the hunters from other guilds to help them either. Neither the council nor the other guilds had the right to intervene at this mont. They hadn’t even dragged this matter on for more than three hours.
The protocol stated that unless they couldn’t deal with the Hollow breakout for eight hours, the council could not intervene.
But it had only been two hours. This ant that the council was intervening too much.
“You should go back,” said Bai Shiliu, her cat-like eyes flickering as she straightened up as well. Her long hair turned and twisted behind her as she looked at Shi ifeng with fury.
Shi ifeng, however, seed oddly at ease. Even though she was being glared at by two A-rank hunters, she was completely at ease. It wasn’t until Duan Jia Xu appeared along with Xue Shen that the entire situation turned quite stiff.
“What’s going on?” Duan Jia Xu glared at Shi ifeng hostily. He had heard all about Luo Huian being embarrassed by this woman, and he didn’t like her at all. It didn’t matter that Luo Huian was in the wrong; Duan Jia Xu cared only about one thing, and that was Luo Huian being embarrassed by Shi ifeng, who snatched the r she loved.
He narrowed his eyes and said to Shi ifeng, “Are you trying to cause trouble, Miss Shi? I don’t understand what the council is trying to do by breaking the protocols, but how could you forget the laws that the council had written themselves?”
Xue Shen didn’t say anything, but her eyes continued to look at Shi ifeng with a hint of annoyance. What was Shi ifeng trying to do? Was she trying to join hands with the council and show everyone that they were not capable of taking down this hollow on their own?
“Oh my, you are absolutely wrong,” said Shi ifeng with a light shake of her head. She smiled at the hunters in front of her and said to them, “Why would I even try to do sothing so foolish like that? You can think of this as a little help—oh dear,” She jumped from the spot where she was standing, and it was a good thing that she did. Because a second later, there was a spear jutting out of the concrete.
“Leader!”
Bai Shiliu turned to look at Luo Qingling, who had appeared out of nowhere.
“Leader Qingling,” Dong Geming greeted the woman with a hint of hesitation in her eyes. Though they were holding Shi ifeng accountable, they had no intention of attacking the woman, but Luo Qingling was different. As a leader and an S-class hunter, she would take Shi ifeng’s intervention as a challenge. After all, S-rank hunters were all about their pride and arrogance.
“ifeng”, Luo Qingling called the woman in a cold voice. “Just what do you think you are doing by interrupting us in our work?”
Shi ifeng simply cast a glance at Luo Qingling while standing on the flat surface of the street lamp. She smiled and said, “There is no need to get angry, Lingling. We are sisters; in the end, we can share things, can’t we? Just take it as sothing along the sa line.”
No sooner had she spoken than Shi ifeng had to jump off the lamp as Luo Qingling had attacked her once again, and this ti around, she caused the entire lamp to disappear.
Seeing that the situation was getting tense, Dong Geming hurriedly said, “HUIAN IS HERE!”
Just as she spoke those magical words, the two won who were about to attack one another with the intention of killing each other paused and turned to look at the sky. Sure enough, a second later, a slender figure fell from the sky and landed on the street.
Though a bit ruffled, Luo Huian still looked impeccable as always. She ran her hand through her hair and stared at the two won who were about to draw blood and questioned, “Just what is going on?”
Why did they look like they were about to fight one another instead of the hollow?
Under Luo Huian’s gaze, both Luo Qingling and Shi ifeng’s faces turned awkward; it was quite similar to a couple being caught by their children when they were fighting. They looked at one another before dropping their stances and turning to look at their baby sister.
“Nothing.” Luo Qingling smiled at Luo Huian and walked over. She reached out and patted Luo Huian on the head and questioned, “How are you? I hope you didn’t rush here without a break.”
She did, but sothing told Luo Huian that she shouldn’t say it. She shook her head and then glanced at Shi ifeng with slight confusion in her eyes. Shi ifeng smiled and winked at her, which confused Luo Huian because she didn’t know who Shi ifeng was, but at the sa ti, she was a bit confused.
Why was this woman looking at her with such goodwill? It was as if she truly cared for her. But the two of them had fought one another for a r, shouldn’t Shi ifeng look at her as if she had killed her ancestors?
Maybe she is showing off? Xiao Hei, who had returned to his spiritual form, glanced at the woman and muttered in a soft voice. Sothing about Shi ifeng told him that he couldn’t ss with that woman; she looked even stronger than Luo Qingling. It made him wonder what the old host of this body was thinking while trying to go against this woman. What did she think? Did she think she could knock Shi ifeng out with one punch? With what? Xiao Bai turned and looked at the snake with a hint of speechlessness on her face. She then turned to look at Luo Huian, who was seriously considering whether what Xiao Hei had said was the truth or not and said to her, “This is not true. She is genuine in her care when she looks at you. Don’t listen to your uncle Hei.”
“Then why is she smiling like that?”
“She is smiling to show her goodwill; you are just too dumb to sense that!” Xiao Bai rolled her eyes and said to the black snake, who stared back at her dumbfounded.
