Dong Geming raised her head and looked in the direction of the giant Hollow. Her eyes widened slightly before she muttered, "Well, when was the last ti fate was in our favour?" Her heart was bleeding quite heavily while looking at the Hollow. Even though they hadn’t even arrived anywhere close to the Hollow, she just knew that they were going to have a really hard ti dealing with this monster.
It was bigger than any hollow that she had faced before, and it was not good at all.
Bai Shiliu didn’t comnt. While sitting in the passenger seat, she had her arms crossed, and she was still looking at the Hollow. Her eyes flickered with countless calculations as she questioned, "When did Luo Huian say she would be here?"
Though they promised that they would hold the hollow back until Luo Huian arrived, Bai Shiliu knew that it was not going to be easy. Nan Zhi allowed the hollow to swallow her consciousness when she was in a residential area, where there were too many lives at stake. If Luo Huian didn’t arrive in ti, she was worried that the council would take the matter into their hands.
By then, even if they wanted to protect Nan Zhi, they wouldn’t be able to do it.
"That’s the thing; she didn’t say anything," said Dong Geming with a nervous laugh, and Bai Shiliu let out a groan. She brought her hands to her face. She knew that things were going to beco ssy. This ti around, they had to protect not only the commoners but also the hollow because the vessel of this hollow was none other than a child.
Dong Geming and Bai Shiliu arrived, and along with them ca Duan Jia Xu and Xue Shen. There were several hunters who had joined their team, as each of the top hunters was leading a four-person team.
"What is the plan?" Xue Shen asked. Her hair had been chopped into a sleek and elegant bob cut. Unlike the last ti Luo Huian saw her, Xue Shen had gone through therapy and was even given a complete makeover. Thus, she was no longer the sa. Xue Shen was now bolder and much more confident than she was in the past. And it was all thanks to Luo Huian.
"There is no plan," said Dong Geming as she glanced at Duan Jia Xu and Xue Shen. "Huian asked us to keep this Hollow at bay, but not kill it. The vessel of this hollow is a pitiful child, and she hopes to save her. Just hold on until she arrives; don’t try to do any life-threatening damage to the Hollow. If you do that, then you can wait for Luo Huian to question you."
Dong Geming wanted to make sure that everyone was clear about what they needed to do. The last thing she wanted was for soone to cause any life-threatening damage to the Hollow. If that happened, then Luo Huian would certainly harp.
The hunters who ca with them looked at one another in shock. What was this? They were being asked to look after the hollow? Where exactly had the world co to? They couldn’t help but question.
However, Dong Geming had already given them the order? What else could they do other than try to hold back the Hollow?
"Everyone clear? Then let go!" Dong Geming said to the teams. "You are not allowed to play heroes if you think that things are getting troubleso. You are allowed to run; no one will look at you differently. As long as you are alive at the end of this ordeal, nothing matters."
"Yes!"
With Dong Geming giving them the command, everyone rushed at the Hollow.
Of course, even though they didn’t charge at the Hollow to kill it and only wanted to push it back, the Hollow didn’t know it. It beca furious when it saw a bunch of hunters attacking it. It roared even more loudly than before; the gloom waves that oozed through the Hollow were enough to make everyone drop their weapons, but they dared not.
Because they knew that if they dropped the weapons, they would die, but at the sa ti, many D-rank hunters couldn’t help but falter.
"What is the point of fighting this thing? We are going to die anyway?" said one of the D-rank hunters.
"That’s right, this thing is so dangerous. We cannot survive it!"
"I want to go back ho."
"This is terrifying."
"Stop it!" Duan Jia Xu snapped. He looked at the D-rank hunters who were falling backwards. He glared at them before saying to them, "Do you think that by running away now you will be able to survive? You either fight or you leave. What’s the point of wallowing here!? Can’t you see that you are demotivating those who are willing to fight?"
Upon hearing his words, the hunters turned and looked at the C and B rank hunters. All of them were covered in sweat, but were fighting hard; of course, they had been listening to the words of the D rank hunters. Even though they were gritting their teeth and fighting, they couldn’t help but feel a bit disgruntled upon hearing the words of these hunters.
The D-rank hunters lowered their heads. They knew that what they did was wrong and thus didn’t dare to say anything more. They glanced at one another before gritting their teeth and rushing into the fight once again. Since they dared to co here, they would try their best to hold on till the end.
While the hunters were trying their best to hold the hollow back, Shi ifeng received a set of commands from the council. She looked at the email in front of her and raised her brows. "And what is this?"
"What’s the matter?" Xu Ying looked at her boss and questioned. "Did sothing happen, Leader Shi?"
"It seems like Gu Sirou is bent on going against Luo Qingling," said Shi ifeng as she tapped her knuckles on the table. Her eyes flickered with a look of unease as she pointed to the screen and said to Xu Ying, "Look at this. Even though Heaven’s Knights Guild is already dealing with the Hollow, Miss Gu asked to go down there and deal with the Hollow breakout."
Shi ifeng had no idea what Gu Sirou was thinking. Why was she even targeting Luo Qingling all of a sudden? Even if Luo Qingling wasn’t the leader of the strongest guild, she was still the leader of one of the strongest guilds, and they were asking her to back down every now and then and trying to suppress her at every turn. What was even Gu Sirou thinking?
Xu Ying frowned as well when she heard Shi ifeng’s words. She said to her boss, "How can that be possible? The Hollow breakout happened at the southern district; that’s the Heavens’ Knights territory. If we break through it, they will take it as us trying to start a war against them. I don’t think that they will appreciate it."
"I know." Shi ifeng furrowed her brows slightly. She glanced at the hunters who were pushing the Hollow back and leaned back on her chair before sighing and getting on her feet.
"You aren’t thinking of going there, are you?" Xu Ying questioned worriedly. She looked at her boss and said to her, "I know that this is the command from the big boss of the council, but if you intervene now, things will beco complicated."
"And if I don’t go there, then soone else will take over," said Shi ifeng. She narrowed her eyes and stared at the skilled hunters of the Heavens Knights guild. She had a feeling that they were trying to delay the Hollow from heading to the city rather than killing it. Knowing that it was sothing Luo Huian must have asked them to do, Shi ifeng didn’t want anyone else to take over.
If soone other than her headed over to control the hollow breakout, then she was sure that they would go for the kill instead of waiting for Luo Huian. At least with her taking over, she would be able to control the situation for a while.
Xu Ying frowned. She knew that Shi ifeng was only looking after Luo Huian but —
"I don’t think Luo Huian will respect or understand your sacrifices. That girl is still resentful that you got engaged to Chen Mingyu." Speaking of that, Xu Ying could not understand why Shi ifeng even bothered to get engaged. The Chen family was good, but they were nowhere near good enough for the Shi family, and yet Shi ifeng agreed to get married to him.
And if Shi ifeng truly wanted to get married to him, Xu Ying would have understood, but the woman had no intention of marrying Chen Mingyu. But his boss had only t with Chen Mingyu for less than three tis; if she wanted to marry him, why did she treat Chen Mingyu like that?
