Jiang Yuning was frustrated but he could understand.
Her parents were the ones who raised her after all.
“Do you want to see next then?”
“I want to see my brother next, and my grandparents too,” Nian Xi said as she smiled apathetically.
Jiang Yuning gritted his teeth. He had to give in—they were her family after all. “Who’s next then?”
Before Nian Xi could reply, he quickly interrupted her and said, “If it’s still not next, I’m going to be... I’m going to get angry.”
Nian Xi nearly burst into laughter watching his sad face, and she tried hard not to. She couldn’t stand the guy, making her crack up even when she was injured. “What are you going to do when you’re angry?”
Jiang Yuning looked at her with resentnt. All sorts of ideas floated through his head but he didn’t think it was a good idea to act on any of them. Finally, he said, “I won’t do anything as long as you’re not angry at . I know I am far from being perfect—I’ve been trying my best to improve ever since I t you. I didn’t even enjoy listening to others talk about this, but I’ve been paying attention to whatever your family says. I didn’t like using phones in the past, but I’m trying to learn it now. Xixi, I’ll do my best to change, alright? I’ll beco a man that you can rely on and trust. I promise that this will never happen again...”
Nian Xi was pleased to hear this from him, but the tone of his voice changed towards the end. “Of course, this shouldn’t happen again. Do you want to get shot by a gun again?”
“Of course not...” Jiang Yuning shook his head vigorously. “I an, I’ll be by your side when you go into labor next ti.”
“Who said anything about having children with you?” Nian Xi rolled her eyes.
Jiang Yuning looked disappointed, “Well, I’ll be there even if you have children with another man.”
Nian Xi was speechless.
What an idiot.
It would be so uncomfortable if he was around while she had children with another man.
That day would probably never co, though.
“Stop talking, my lungs feel a little tired. I need so peace and quiet,” Nian Xi said softly but uncomfortably.
“Alright, go to sleep then,” Jiang Yuning said quickly. “I’ll be by your side.”
Nian Xi slept for about an hour and when she woke up, she felt bored as she couldn’t move around or do anything. Jiang Yuning decided to read her a novel.
Luosang overheard their conversation while she was sitting in the room.
Jiang Yuning said, “Xixi, let read you the book ‘The Three-body Problem’ written by Liu Cixin. I think this book is very well written, and the storyline is very creative, I like it a lot...”
Nian Xi said, “I don’t want that. Read Jin i to .”
Jiang Yuning was flabbergasted.
Luosang nearly spat out all the water that she was drinking. Nian Xi truly led a tough and tenacious life.
Jiang Yuning said, “It’s... hard to read that book. Why don’t I read you ‘The Outlaws of the Marsh’ instead?”
Nian Xi replied, “Fine, read ‘Battle Through the Heavens’ then.”
Jiang Yuning was a little tongue-tied. “That book... has about five million words...”
Nian Xi replied, “Yeah, what’s wrong with that?”
Jiang Yuning said, “Nothing...”
Luosang felt bad for Jiang Yuning as she witnessed the whole exchange. She pitied him for having to read such a long novel, but he should have known better than to suggest reading a sci-fi novel to Nian Xi—she was all about the action after all.
When the two of them were engaged with the novel, Luosang went to give Sister Lan a call. “Is Little Apple making a fuss when we’re all not around?”
“Nope, he’s playing with Liuxi,” Sister Lan said. “Liuxi heard about Little Missy’s accident and he volunteered to co over in the morning to take care of Little Apple. He’s doing a fantastic job—he’s even more professional than .”
