Unlike Euryno and Oceanus, who were defeated and demoted, Hecate actively sought integration.
Although she held no divine office after crossing domains, her powers and authority remained intact.
She never expected to claim the dominions of sky, sea, earth, or the underworld, but she had plenty of minor domains to lean on: witchcraft, magic, spirits, keys, crossroads, and so on.
Still, she needed divinity to better blend into Olympus.
To put it plainly, she needed a proper background to establish herself in the Olympian order.
Deter offered just that, splitting a portion of her own divinity to grant Hecate the title of "Daughter of Deter."
But for the forr great goddess who once held sway over the sky, sea, and land, such divinity and lineage were rely a way to offload her power and responsibilities.
It was impossible for Hecate to obtain a massive composite domain like the one Hades held, so she took a different path: quantity over quality.
Like a wealthy outsider looking to invest in the booming Olympus enterprise, she knew buying in without connections was nearly impossible.
She had also made a deal with Nyx, obtaining the title and divinity of "Daughter of Nyx."
If Eros gave her Perseis’s divine authority, she’d unlock the "Triple Lineage Servant" achievent.
Even now, backed by domains like witchcraft and magic and aided by Deter, she was already capable of challenging Hades.
Countless arcane rituals and incantations poured from her hands, stripping Hades of her ho-field advantage in the underworld.
Flas were extinguished. Mist was dispelled. Darkness was pierced by moonlight.
Appearing in her three-faced, six-ard divine form, Hecate resembled a master archmage with hundreds of spell slots.
She beca the very embodint of a magical machine gun, on triple fire rate.
Eros watched, blood pumping with excitent, itching to have a deep, heart-to-heart interaction with this triune goddess.
Don’t misunderstand, he just wanted to study magic. He definitely wasn’t raising a star domain.
Sure, divine power was more efficient and overwhelming, but who wouldn’t want to be a spellcaster with ridiculous visual effects?
"A great goddess from the Near East? I didn’t expect you to be this powerful," said Hades, surprised.
But before her awe could linger, Deter charged forward, scythe in hand.
"Give back my daughter!"
Empowered by Hecate’s rituals, Deter’s swing cut straight through the iron chains in Hades’s hands.
Yet Hades summoned more barbed chains, which shot toward Deter like venomous snakes.
Styx raised her shield to protect Deter, and icy spears ford behind her, raining down on Hades.
Frowning slightly, Hades whispered, "Cerberus, co to ."
In the distance, the ground trembled. A beast the size of a mountain charged forward—the Hellhound Cerberus, born of Typhon and Echidna.
Among Gaia’s many monstrous children, this dog was one of the better-looking ones.
Despite its three snarling heads, its appearance wasn’t especially grotesque.
Hecate furrowed her brows. One of her arms raised a key, and with muttered words, she opened an invisible door.
From the threshold stepped a creature with a slim, translucent form—its hound-like silhouette faintly visible under the light.
This thing... felt too familiar.
Eros’s eye twitched. He decided he needed a long talk with Hecate later.
"Don’t scare like that! This is supposed to be Greece, not so creepy film set!"
As Hecate showcased her divine might, Hades slowly fell into a disadvantage.
The coordinated assault from Deter and Styx, combined with Hecate’s interference, felt like wading through quicksand.
"I knew it. This one’s locked in."
At first glance, Hades seed fierce, but she looked destined to beco just another stepping stone.
But... was she buying ti?
Eros rembered that in myth, Deter did retrieve her daughter from Hades.
However, because Persephone had eaten pogranate seeds from the underworld, she couldn’t fully leave.
She had to return for four months each year, bringing winter to the surface world during her absence.
Right now, Persephone lay unconscious nearby, and Hades was still engaged in battle.
Should he check on her?
As soon as the thought appeared, Eros made up his mind.
He had to check. Hades might be stalling.
He’d go assess Persephone’s condition, purely for health reasons.
Without hesitation, Eros leapt into motion. The Hypnos followers around him froze, stunned.
They watched him slip around the battlefield’s edge and head straight for the sleeping Persephone.
Deter noticed but thought nothing of it, assuming Eros was lending a hand.
Styx, however, looked slightly suspicious.
Still, she reasoned that Eros wouldn’t act recklessly enough to offend Deter.
But Hades, upon seeing his movent, hesitated before throwing a dagger.
A mont later, she regretted it. That might’ve been too much force for a mortal.
Yet Eros, without even turning around, dodged the dagger as if he had eyes on his back.
On top of that, he kicked Cerberus right in the face, leaving the poor mutt dazed and dizzy.
"...Huh?"
Hades made a confused sound.
When Eros used his powers just now, she had sensed sothing familiar.
A weakness!
That single mont of distraction was all it took. Deter lunged forward, her scythe glowing with the aura of death.
A chill surged through Hades. She moved to block—but moonlight from above froze her for an instant.
And in that instant, Deter struck.
The scythe flashed. A crimson line appeared across Hades’s pale neck.
Beads of blood welled up and spilled.
"Go cool off in Tartarus for a while, Hades."
Deter, once the embodint of warmth and maternal care, now wore a terrifyingly cold expression.
Styx looked at Hades’s fallen head and felt a chill in her heart.
How did two sisters beco like this?
Was this what "cooling off in Tartarus" ant now—grown-up sibling squabbles?
As her thoughts spiraled, Styx suddenly noticed sothing.
Even in death, Hades’s lips were curved in a smirk.
A sense of dread rose in Styx’s chest. She tried to warn Deter.
But it was too late. Chains from Hades’s severed body impaled Deter’s chest, hooks latching onto her shoulder blades.
"Sister, why would you think that in the land of the dead, you could so easily kill the god of death?"
Hades’s severed head still spoke, blood leaking from her smiling lips.
"No one’s ever been the Lord of the Underworld before, so you can’t understand what I’m truly capable of."
"Even Nyx, the goddess who created the underworld, may not fully grasp it."
She casually picked up her head and reattached it to her neck.
The wound sealed with only a star-shaped scar remaining.
"I am the god of the underworld. The master of the dead. The unseen darkness and inevitable end."
"Fighting on my own turf? That was the dumbest mistake you could’ve made."
The reversal happened too fast. Eros had only just reached Persephone.
Now Hades had gravely wounded Deter, knocking out the main DPS.
It’s fine. There’s still Hecate, one can always count on a powerful mage.
But Hecate’s triple form began to flicker. Her six arms phased in and out of reality.
"No good. I’m at my limit."
Using her minor domains to fuel her triple goddess form was too taxing.
Now that Hades was going all out, she couldn’t hold it any longer.
"No way... is this where it all falls apart?"
Hypnos looked at Hecate, then at Hades and the impaled Deter.
Was it still possible to switch sides and pledge loyalty to the Underworld?
Should be fine, right?
"Oath goddess, I don’t wish to trouble you. Step aside."
Hades glanced at Styx, not intending to harm her old ally.
"But as for the son of Nyx and the goddess Hecate, you two will be excellent stepping stones to announce the rise of the new Underworld Queen."
She raised her hand, and countless chains erupted from the ground, aiming to capture Hypnos and Hecate.
The forr was Nyx’s child, perfect leverage to take over the night pantheon.
The latter, a powerful threat that must be neutralized if not controlled.
Gritting her teeth, Hecate summoned her strength and struck the ground with her staff.
Her key opened another door, swallowing herself, Hypnos, Styx, and the heavily wounded Deter.
The sudden teleportation caught Hades off guard.
By the ti she reacted, they were gone.
Still within the underworld’s borders, though. No matter. She’d deal with them later.
She wasn’t planning to throw everyone into Tartarus anyway.
Let them run.
Only...
Now facing Cerberus again, who was baring its teeth, Eros looked like he wanted to say sothing.
He hadn’t even boarded yet!
