The first and second waves went pretty smoothly for Max and the group. They easily defended themselves against the cockroaches and even killed the two wave bosses, giving their team an extra 300 annihilation points.
"Life is good. No players from other teams are trying to kill the wave boss." Max comnted casually as he ran around the gray desert to return to the base.
Running beside him was Lily and Atlas. They had just returned from killing the second wave boss and were prepared to follow their next plan.
"Lily, good luck." He said to his girlfriend when they reached a large boulder. "Make sure you stay out of their range. It will be trickier now that they use sniper rifles to try to find you."
This was where they separated. The harassnt would start now until the fifth wave.
"Un, I will. Good luck to you too, Breeze." Lily nodded with a smile, "Destroy them with Atlas."
"Leave it to us." Max grinned as he high-fived her. He ran in another direction with Atlas to finish his own mission.
While running, he looked at the blond-haired man.
"How many bases do we need to destroy before the fourth wave?"
"Based on our current points, I say a minimum of two to ensure our victory."
"Two, huh? That's why we go Southwest of our base."
"Indeed. There are two bases that are close to each other. It's fortunate we spawn on the edge of the map."
"You're right."
Their running speed wasn't affected at all, even when they were talking. Both of them were pretty casual for players who played in a franchise tournant, the highest one in Roach Planet's competition.
And their strategy was… too bold for a team that risked themselves to reach this far. Mainly, it was all due to the fact they weren't actually supposed to be here. Only Flexy had the qualifications to enter and had been serious about this competition before.
"DizzyTop, TipsyCar, and Flatheadman is it? Flexy especially asks us to drill their heads if we see them." Max chuckled in amusent as he rembered their last strategy eting this morning.
"Can't say I don't understand his feeling of getting betrayed." Atlas added, with his usual calm tone, "I will take that task if you don't mind. Though I don't think we can find out about them."
"We can just kill everyone we see and say that one of them is those people."
"Genius. Let's do that."
— Did they just have a rather casual conversation?
— They are hilarious
— Everyone is so serious. anwhile, both of them are like: Who should we kill now? How about these three?
— It's hilarious.
"They are like kids on a picnic, having no sense of danger as they march into the enemy base. Can you believe them, Paul?"
"I heard their conversation too, Jack. And yes, they are too calm and lacking for soone playing in a competition."
Unbeknownst to the duo, their conversation was caught on the main cara. Everyone in the audience laughed at their casual look, in contrast to everyone else.
At the sa ti, they were surprised that they wanted to destroy 2 teams before the third wave. Their confidence was amazing, considering there were only 2 of them against 4 professional players at once in each team.
However, their surprise was soon turned into amazent. Max and Atlas reached the first base they saw. There were many boulders to hide from the enemy's gaze. The defender was unlucky to be spawned in this terrain. It made the duo infiltrate easier.
As a result…
"Any last word?"
"Fuck yo–"
Zzt—!
A clean sweep of the first team.
[Team OrangeSquash has annihilated Team M24.]
[500 Annihilation Points have been rewarded.]
"How dare he say fuck you. He's gay and it seems he likes you, Atlas." Max comnted as he put his SMG and walked away from the crumbling base.
"There is nothing wrong with gay." Atlas comnted, "As long as that doesn't concern . I already have Fer."
"That's true. Let's hurry, then. I want to et Lily again."
With that word, Max began to run, followed closely by Atlas. Due to the change in cara earlier and how fast the base fell, what happened was replayed on the main screen, and their conversation wasn't heard.
"They are amazing! Did you just see that?" Paul exclaid loudly, turning to Jack.
"Breeze and Atlas entered the base using grappling guns from two different spots. They imdiately rounded the enemy when they were recharging their magazines from the warehouse. It's just clean! Atlas' rifle pierced the enemy's head one by one, and Breeze got close to the sniper rifle to riddle his body with bullets!"
"Clean! No matter how we saw it, it was clean! They only took less than 30 seconds to destroy one base! The third wave will start in 2 minutes and 26 seconds. Will they be able to destroy another base before that?"
The replay ended, and now the screen showed Lily. The amazent didn't stop there as it continued. Paul's voice bood excitedly.
"LilyPixel has returned after harassing a team. She made a stop at another base and downed another player before running away! Her target is the sniper! They have no chance to find her if their sniper is down! What a beast! No, stealth!
She's like a cockroach! Disappear when soone find her."
— Don't call LilyPixel a cockroach, you stup1d caster!
— Breeze and LilyPixel are a couple, right? They are… crazy. Crazy good!
— They make this competition like a child's play. Are they actually that good or do other teams suck?
— They suck dik too much.
— No, it's because OrangeSquash applied a strange strategy that the other teams aren't used to it.
— The elent of surprise is too sudden. Their strategy changed so much from the Scrim and Joint Practice, making the others perplexed
— Use simple words.
As the viewers, audience, and casters comnted on other teams, Max and Atlas had arrived on second base. They were expected to co, and were raining bullets imdiately on sight.
Max was forced to hide behind a boulder, but it probably wouldn't last long, considering the sniper rifle could destroy it. Not to ntion, the enemy team had two MGs and one rifle. If they stayed behind the boulder, unmoving, only to wait for them to deplete their bullet, they would eventually die.
He looked at the blond-haired man and took out five live grenades. Atlas did the sa, as he also thought of the sa strategy.
"I throw to the left, you to the right."
"I will make sure they reach their wall," Max added with a nod.
Bullets kept raining on them, and a loud explosion sotis rang from the sniper rifle's attack. The ground shook slightly from the impact, and the boulder was chipped away.
However, bullets weren't infinite. They had to reload at one point. Still, they were professional. They left two people to rain bullets while the other two reloaded. But they were also humans. There was sothing called human error.
And it happened more often than one might think.
After a while, the bullet rain stopped. Max and Atlas spent not even a second hesitating and threw 10 live grenades, scattering them on the sand desert between them and the base.
