It was a race against ti!

Yang Yi didn’t dare stop for even a second, sprinting at full speed towards the Nightmare Star.

Behind him, the raging fire had already died out, and the ship had reverted to its frozen state.

He had to keep moving — if he slowed down even a little, he might end up as frozen at.

When he was about 400 tres away from the Nightmare Star, he suddenly heard the buzzing, crackling sound of static — chaotic and disordered, signalling that a massive swarm of Ice Nest Worms was closing in!

Without hesitation, Yang Yi ripped off his blindfold and used the third eye to glance behind him.

The swarm was close — there were thousands upon thousands of them, an uncountable mass!

The crackling noises grew louder as the distance between them rapidly shrank.

200 tres.

100 tres.

The worms were flying three tis faster than Yang Yi could run. At that rate, he wouldn’t make it in ti!

His eyes sharpened — he reached for the Pale Worm Hand Cannon, intending to use it to buy himself so ti.

But just then, a burst of blazing fire erupted ahead of him!

The flas burned intensely, piercing through the thick white mist, and even radiating warmth towards Yang Yi!

A few seconds earlier, a flaming arrow had struck the Nightmare Star’s bow, igniting the oil spread across the deck and triggering a massive fire.

The ship’s bow was engulfed in flas, lighting up the surroundings and cutting through the fog.

It was Suna’s handiwork — she had poured Pale Worm Oil over the front deck.

Upon hearing the crackling static, she had imdiately fired a flaming arrow, setting the bow ablaze.

And the Life Fireplace — the key to their plan — was right in the middle of that fire, installed outside the captain’s quarters, facing the front of the ship.

If the flas weren’t extinguished in ti, the bow would be reduced to ashes.

But things wouldn’t progress to that point.

Because the Ice Nest Worms wouldn’t allow the fire to spread unchecked.

They had been chasing Yang Yi, but the mont the fire ignited, they imdiately changed course — gaining altitude and swarming towards the Nightmare Star instead.

Yang Yi noticed this as well. He dropped to the ground, listening to the whoosh of the air being torn apart above him, as the swarm of Ice Nest Worms threw themselves into the flas without hesitation.

“The scorching chaos…must be purged!”

“What a vile and wicked heat!”

“…Embrace the cold, for it shall grant all things peace…”

“Eternity…”

Yang Yi’s eyes widened in shock.

He could hear whispering voices — chaotic and fragnted — coming from above him, from the Ice Nest Worm swarm.

These worms…had consciousness, and when gathered in large numbers…they could even speak!

A Battle Against the Flas!

At the bow of the ship, an intense firefighting war erupted!

Massive swarms of Ice Nest Worms crashed into the flas like living grenades, shattering on impact, and exploding into clouds of frost.

The first line of fire was instantly extinguished, and the flas were steadily pushed back — closer and closer to the Life Fireplace.

It had to be said — when enough of these Ice Nest Worms gathered, their fire suppression efficiency was insane!

In just a dozen seconds, more than half of the flas had been smothered, and in so areas, a layer of frost had ford, preventing reignition.

Eventually, the fire was completely under control, with only one remaining source of blazing light — the Life Fireplace!

The open maw of the furnace was like an endless abyss, pulling in a flood of Ice Nest Worms…

Yang Yi stood up, staring at the spectacle before him.

Countless Ice Nest Worms ford a single, unbroken line, surging forwards like a blue river of light, diving headfirst into the Life Fireplace, fueling a towering inferno.

The fire burned so intensely that flas even spewed out of the chimney, scattering a shower of embers into the sky, resembling fireworks.

These Ice Nest Worms were like zealous, fanatical martyrs, blindly following their doctrine — to eradicate heat, freeze all in their path.

No fire could make them hesitate. They would extinguish it. They would freeze it.

Except this ti, because they themselves had beco fuel.

The first Ice Nest Worms to enter the furnace ignited instantly, their bodies radiating blazing white flas.

And that very light attracted even more Ice Nest Worms, who in turn ignited, drawing even more, creating a vicious, never-ending cycle of death!

After several minutes, the furnace itself was starting to overheat, glowing dark red, on the verge of lting.

But the Ice Nest Worms clung to its surface, lting themselves to cool it down…

And thus, a deadly loop was born!

The Life Fireplace had transford into an Ice Nest Worm Crematorium — an exceptionally efficient one.

Those who entered were instantly incinerated, reduced to ashes, and expelled through the chimney…

At the sa ti, frantic, piercing voices echoed from within — a sound like ice scraping against ice, sharp and unbearable.

“I have done it!”

“Praise be to the Ice Nest Lord!”“I bring eternity!”“I…”

Yang Yi felt a sharp headache, his heart tightening in unease.

He imdiately began searching for Suna.

The furnace’s chimney was spewing a storm of embers, clearing the white mist within a hundred-tre radius.

Finally, Yang Yi spotted Suna.

She stood just a dozen tres away from the Nightmare Star, even closer than he was, staring blankly at the raging fire…

“Shit!”

Yang Yi imdiately checked her sanity value.

Suna

Sanity: 47/80 (Madness — Obsession)

She was taking determined, unwavering steps towards the Nightmare Star, seemingly fascinated by the battle of ice and fire.

Yang Yi sprinted and tackled her to the ground, the two of them rolling several tis across the icy terrain.

“What the hell are you doing?!” Suna frowned.

“What am I doing? Look at your damn sanity!” Yang Yi growled, pinning her down with his left arm, preventing her from moving.

“What’s wrong with my sanity?”

“What’s wrong?! You—”

Yang Yi froze mid-sentence.

Because Suna’s sanity had suddenly increased to 52.

What the hell?!

Had he misread it earlier?

“How long are you planning to stay on top of ?”

Suna’s voice turned cold, snapping Yang Yi out of his thoughts.

“…Shit. My bad.”

Yang Yi quickly got up and helped her to her feet.

“Those Ice Nest Worms make an unbearable noise when they burn. We should keep our distance.”

The two of them moved farther away, finally escaping the tornting voices.

But just then, Suna muttered sothing strange — her tone rhythmic, like a chant.

She was speaking in Human Common Tongue, a language she had spent 500 Shell Coins to learn.

“In the still, frozen palace where all has ceased, the Ice Nest Lord invites thee to embrace eternity…”

Yang Yi’s hair stood on end.

“What did you just say?”

“I heard the Ice Nest Worms repeating those words as they burned.” Suna replied.

“You must have misheard.”

Yang Yi imdiately dismissed it, but he stole a glance at Suna’s sanity value — seeing that she was still stable, he let out a breath of relief.

This Ice Nest Lord was probably just another vile, eldritch entity — akin to the Spider Mother, grotesque and repulsive…

【Attempting to recall the shadow of a Great Being. Sanity -10.】

Just the re thought of it cost Yang Yi 10 sanity points.

“Your right hand?”

Suna suddenly noticed that Yang Yi’s right hand was unnaturally tucked inside his sleeve.

“It’s nothing. My right hand froze off.”

Yang Yi revealed his severed wrist — the stump was blackened, with no blood flow.

Suna reached out and touched it — it felt like a popsicle, hard and ice-cold.

“You’ll need to amputate this properly.” She frowned.

“It’s fine. I can heal it with magic.”

“…Magic?”
