“Julia, are you okay?”
Over the past few years, Alexander had thought that it was Julia whom Noah loved, but recent events made him suspect that he might have been mistaken.
Noah had always loved Arabella Shaw.
“I’m fine, really,” Julia showed a sincere smile.
“If there cos a day when lovers finally get together, I’ll congratulate them.”
Alexander sensed that she was serious and was glad for her.
He smiled, “That’s good.
n are everywhere anyway.”
It was past seven in the evening when they arrived at the hotel.
Julia bid Alexander goodnight and swiped her card to enter the room.
As the lights turned on, she was startled to see a man resting on the sofa.
She hurriedly closed the door.
Jas Thompson opened those deep-set eyes and said with a hoarse voice, “You’re back.”
“How did you co to Grand City?
No, how did you get in?”
Jas lounged on the sofa, one arm casually draped over the armrest.
A few buttons of his white shirt were undone,
giving off both a laid-back and noble air.
He looked at the woman by the door, “I used a card to get in, this hotel belongs to the Thompson Family, and I ca here to perform surgery on a patient.”
That was his way of answering Julia’s questions.
“Co over here; what are you standing there for?
I won’t bite.”
If he were to bite, it would have to be after a full al.
Otherwise, where would the strength co from?
Jas spoke lazily, “Little Pear, co and join for dinner.”
There were two boxes of unhealthy food on the table—fried chicken, French fries, and a bottle of cola.

She hadn’t expected him to eat such things.
She changed her shoes and walked over.
“I’m not eating, I had a full dinner already.”
Seeing her response, Jas didn’t insist.
He washed his hands, returned to the sofa, and started to eat.
Watching him eat was quite a delight.
“Did you enjoy your lunch?”
“Uh-huh, it was tasty, thank you.”
Julia poured him a glass of cola.
After he filled up, Jas threw away the plastic gloves and pulled out a strawberry-flavored lollipop from his pants pocket for Julia.
“For you.”
It was her first ti seeing soone give a lollipop as a gift.
“Why are you suddenly giving a lollipop?” Julia received a candy from a man for the first ti.
“And just one?”
Jas looked at her as if to say, how many do you want exactly.
“I saw my great-nephew and Miss Shaw downstairs; I snatched a lollipop from a little girl in the elevator just to please you.
If I’d taken more, the girl would have cried.”
Julia, “……”
That little girl was such a good child, not to cry when soone coaxed a lollipop away from her.
Seeing Julia’s shocked expression, Jas snickered and pinched her chin, then leaned down to kiss her lips.
He was very domineering in his conquest.
They caught their breath.
“Secretary Land, earning a million a year, rember you owe ,”
he released her and laughed in a husky tone.
Julia hadn’t even responded when the doorbell rang.
“I’ll see who it is.”
Her lips were flushed; she straightened her clothes and walked to the door to peer out the peephole.
Outside stood Alexander Strong.
Julia turned to look at Jas sitting on the sofa and gestured towards the bathroom, telling him to hide there first.
Jas almost burst into laughter at her indication for him to take cover in the bathroom.
What an adventurous thought she had.
He had never hidden in a bathroom before.
But despite his annoyance, he still got up with a cold face and entered the bathroom.
Only then did Julia open the door.
Alexander glanced inside and said, “Noah Quarter asked to co check if everything is all right here?”
Noah had just heard from Arabella’s agent that a man had entered Julia’s room.
He called Alexander Strong to see if it was safe.
Julia Land had a puzzled look on her face, “I’m fine here, is sothing the matter?”
Alexander Strong explained, “Arabella Shaw’s agent saw a man enter your room, and Noah called to co and check it out.”
“Oh, it’s nothing, that man is my friend.”
Having understood the situation, Alexander Strong saw that Julia Land was alright and went back to report to Noah Quarter.
When Alexander Strong went to report to Noah Quarter, Arabella Shaw was not in the living room.
“Secretary Land said that man was her friend.”
“Friend?” Noah repeated the word.
His voice cold, he said, “It’s alright, Secretary Strong, you can go rest, thank you.”
Alexander Strong clearly sensed Noah’s displeasure, but he didn’t dwell on it and turned to leave.

Julia Land called for Jas Thompson and, seeing that he hadn’t co out of the bathroom, she opened the bathroom door, “Can…

She let out a light gasp and quickly closed the door.
“Why didn’t you lock the door!”
Jas Thompson chuckled inside, “What are you shouting for?
It’s not like you haven’t seen it before.”
Not only seen but also touched.
Julia Land rubbed her face, her ears burning hot.
She turned to walk away when she suddenly realized sothing.
Julia Land knocked on the bathroom door again, “Mr.
Thompson, what are you doing?”
The sound of the showerhead ca from inside.
Julia Land didn’t need to wait for his answer.
She knew what he was doing.
Showering.
The doorbell rang again.
Julia Land frowned.
Who could it be now?
What was he doing here?
This ti, it was Noah Quarter standing outside the door.
Noah Quarter rang the doorbell but Julia Land didn’t co to open the door.
He took out his phone and called her directly.
Julia Land answered, “Chairman, is there sothing you need?”
“Where are you?”
“I’m showering; it’s not convenient right now.”
“I’ll co over later, we need to video call Grandma.”
So that was it.
Julia Land glanced at the bathroom; it seed Jas Thompson intended to stay over tonight.
Arabella was probably with Noah at that ti.
Thinking it over, Julia Land decided it was safer to go to Noah’s place, “I’ll co over in a bit.”
Just then, the bathroom door suddenly opened, and Jas Thompson walked out, wrapped in a towel around his waist.
Julia Land quickly raised her hand to cover Jas Thompson’s lips.
She said to Noah on the phone, “Let’s leave it at that for now.
I’ll hang up.”
Jas Thompson gave Julia Land an amused look, his tongue teasingly licked her palm.
“Why so nervous?
I’m not soone who can’t be seen.
Didn’t you say that if he wears a green hat, you were going to wear one too?”
Julia Land withdrew her hand and gave an awkward laugh.
Could she admit that he was sowhat a person not to be seen?
Jas Thompson, in his capacity as Noah’s uncle, was a chasm itself.
Moreover, she didn’t dare think about the Thompson Family, and Jas Thompson likely wouldn’t marry soone of her status into the Thompson Family.
Jas Thompson was clever; judging by Julia Land’s reaction, he could guess what she was thinking.
He lifted her chin and narrowed his eyes, “Little Julia, do you want to be your secret man?”
“No, it’s not that.
Don’t get the wrong idea,” Julia Land laughed awkwardly, then suggested, “Maybe we should avoid being too intimate in the future.”
A clean break.
She was worried that if she spent too much ti with Jas Thompson, she would fall for him again.
The man before her had the ability to make that happen.
Jas Thompson smiled, not taking offense, and eyed her.
“Little Julia, do you think I’m as useless as Noah Quarter?”
“I can be your secret man for now.”
