When Ethan’s calm voice cut through the tension-filled air with his bid of "ten million dollars," the room seed to freeze. For a mont, there was only silence, as though everyone collectively held their breath, unsure if they had heard correctly. Then, almost in unison, heads turned sharply toward the source of the voice, a wave of curiosity and disbelief rippling through the room.

The whispers started almost imdiately.

they still couldn’t believe what they just heard.

"Who was that?"

"Did soone just bid ten million?"

"Who even has the nerve—"

Then their gazes landed on Ethan, standing tall and unbothered, his expression cool and unreadable. The murmurs grew louder as recognition set in.

The kid? people thought, their disbelief plain on their faces.

they couldn’t believe it was the sa young man who caused a stir at the entrance earlier?

At that mont Robert Wesley, who had been leaning back with a smug grin monts ago, suddenly sat upright. His eyes locked onto Ethan, his expression a mix of shock and growing annoyance. Him? Robert thought, his mind racing. The sa kid they almost didn’t let in?

However he has the highest Invitation card.

Nicholas Austin, still seated, glanced at Ethan with a raised brow. For a mont, the usual cocky deanor he carried slipped, replaced by genuine surprise. The whispers around him grew louder, but his focus remained on Ethan, sizing him up.

At that mont the auctioneer, standing at the podium, quickly regained composure and addressed the crowd.

"Ten million dollars," he announced, his voice carrying a touch of awe. "Do we have a higher bid?"

However the question hung in the air like a challenge, but no one responded. The tension was palpable, everyone waiting to see if Robert Wesley or Nicholas Austin would counter.

Robert’s jaw tightened, his fingers tapping against the armrest of his chair. He hated being outplayed, especially by soone who, in his eyes, had no business being in the sa room as him. Ten million? he thought, his frustration mounting. ’Who does he think he is?’

he thought to himself.

But even as the anger simred within him, Robert hesitated. Ten million dollars was an astronomical sum, even for him. The cost of continuing this bidding war wouldn’t just be monetary—it would be a blow to his pride if he lost after going higher.

Nicholas Austin, for his part, leaned back, a smirk creeping across his lips.

"Looks like I’m out," he said under his breath, his tone amused but conceding. Let Robert deal with this one.

Again the auctioneer repeated the call. "Ten million dollars. Any higher bids?"

However the room was still Silence.

Ethan remained standing, his posture relaxed, his expression betraying nothing. Inside, his mind was clear.

He did co here to play gas. He wanted to buy the necklace and give it as a gift, and he’s not walking out of here without it.

Finally, the auctioneer’s gavel ca down with a sharp crack, punctuating the end of the bidding war.

"Sold, for ten million dollars!"

Imdiately The room erupted into murmurs again, eyes darting toward Ethan as they tried to piece together who he was and how he had managed to steal the show again.

At that mont Robert Wesley sat back, his face dark with irritation, while Nicholas Austin simply chuckled, clearly entertained by the turn of events.

Ethan calmly returned to his seat, unfazed by the attention, his thoughts steady.

Then it was ti for Ethan to pay and clam his ring.

However his focus then shifted to his watch, knowing he was getting late already for the party.

Ethan stood, straightening his suit jacket as he made his way to the front desk to finalize the paynt. His calm deanor contrasted sharply with the whispers that followed him.

At that mont all eyes were on him, the supposed enigma who had just casually bid ten million dollars.

At the paynt desk, the staff awaited him, their professional smiles faltering slightly as he handed over his bank card. There was a mont of palpable tension as the card was swiped. Everyone watching seed to hold their breath, expecting the transaction to fail.

But then, the machine beeped, and the transaction was approved. Ethan nodded at the staff, who looked at him with a mix of awe and disbelief as they handed him the receipt.

He couldn’t believe they are acting like it’s the first ti soone’s paid this much.

In the corner of the room, Nicholas Austin observed the entire interaction with a thoughtful expression. His curiosity was piqued. Who is this kid? he wondered. He doesn’t look like one of us, but he’s too calm for soone pretending to fit in.

At that mont Nicholas stood, adjusting his tie. He had made up his mind to approach Ethan and uncover the truth.

But before he could take a step, Robert Wesley grabbed his arm, his grip firm.

"Don’t bother," Robert said, his tone low and dismissive.

Nicholas turned to him, raising an eyebrow. "And why not?"

Robert leaned closer, his expression smug. "Because he’s not worth it. Think about it—do you really believe a kid like that has ten million dollars lying around? He’s probably a ssenger for one of the big families. They sent him to bid on their behalf to avoid attention."

Upon hearing what Robert just said. Nicholas hesitated, glancing back at Ethan, who was now walking toward the exit with the receipt and the prized necklace in hand.

"A ssenger? Are you sure?"

Robert scoffed. "I saw him when he entered. The security stopped him, rember? His card wasn’t the standard one. It’s obvious. He’s not here on his own. Soone powerful sent him, gave him access, and he’s just doing their bidding."

At that mont Nicholas crossed his arms, his gaze narrowing.

"Still, that doesn’t explain his confidence."

"It’s an act," Robert said with a smirk.

"ssengers are trained to carry themselves like that. It’s all part of the image. Trust , you’re wasting your ti trying to figure him out."

Nicholas nodded slowly, though doubt lingered in his mind.
