Soon, Xu Zheng’an finished testing the current batch of samples.
He picked up the printed report and glanced at the most critical trics, only to shake his head in slight disappointnt, before handing it over to other researchers for organization and archiving.
Just at that mont, Lu Ming returned carrying 10 tubes of blood samples.
"Professor Xu, Xiao Guo said these are the 10 most fortunate blood samples. I was the first to go, and they were all allocated to our team. He also insisted that we must achieve results," Lu Ming said with a wry smile as he placed the tubes on the test bench.
"Fortunate, perhaps? Maybe that’s precisely the bit of luck we need," Xu Zheng’an remarked, fondling the tubes as he muttered.
"Professor, do you really believe in that stuff?" Lu Ming asked curiously.
"Luck is sothing you can’t say doesn’t exist. So people are just fortunate, like the Superhumans," Xu Zheng’an replied.
"That’s true!" Lu Ming nodded, adding, "But now, the people with the best luck have sent their blood samples to us at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. With so much good fortune on our side, we should also get lucky!"
"Haha, well said!"
The two chatted while their hands moved swiftly, injecting the blood samples into specialized test tubes before sequentially inserting them into the gene analyzer.
This entire procedure had been repeated countless tis over the past few days by the mbers of Team Three, each of whom was diligently carrying out their tasks.
In the blink of an eye, half an hour had passed.
"Alright, last parater check, then we begin genetic comparison one by one. Brace up, everyone. After this round of tests, we’ll take a two-hour break," Xu Zheng’an announced loudly.
All the drowsy researchers perked up at this point, double-checking the data and each other to prevent any oversights.
Once the final gene set was validated, the resulting data was uploaded for comparison.
Only when the busy research team started to relax did the final minutes of waiting for the results begin, requiring no action on their part.
At this mont, soone peeked into the room from outside the door, and then entered upon confirming that the people inside were no longer occupied.
"Xiao Guo, what brings you here?" Lu Ming asked with curiosity upon seeing the newcor.
"Didn’t I tell you? I chose the 10 luckiest blood samples for you. I figured you would almost have the results by now, so I ca right over to check," Guo Hai responded imdiately.
Seeing how invested the other party was, Lu Ming showed a hint of surprise on his face.
"I thought you were joking at first. You really ca over. Is there sothing special about these blood samples?" Lu Ming queried.
The other researchers, including Professor Xu, cast curious glances at these words.
"I wouldn’t call it special, but Yang City, where these Superhumans are from, showed an incredible response to the recent Mutated Beings crisis," Guo Hai promptly explained the casualty situation in Yang City and the progress of their defensive wall construction.
"So, the Superhumans from their city might have sothing unique about them!" Guo Hai concluded.
Even though the researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences usually paid no attention to matters outside their labs, they were aware of the significant impact of the Mutated Beings crisis.
Upon hearing Guo Hai’s explanation, a look of amazent appeared on their faces.
"That amazing, solving the Mutated Beings crisis in a single day? Your news has piqued my curiosity. Once I’m off work and can get my phone, I’m going to look up how they managed that," Lu Ming couldn’t help but say.
At that mont, the adjacent machine began beeping.
At the sound, everyone was revitalized, indicating that the results were about to be revealed.
Although the team had no great expectations for this batch of results, Guo Hai’s narrative had raised a glimr of hope in their hearts.
Perhaps the Superhumans from Yang City could indeed bring them good fortune!
Lu Ming was the first to arrive at the printer, waiting for the results. The machine started chattering as it began printing, and in a few seconds, a detailed report was produced.
He quickly grabbed the report and skimd past the preceding text to look at the crucial parater.
"Wow, we’re actually in luck! The genetic compatibility of the first blood sample has reached five in ten thousand," Lu Ming exclaid.
Normally, they would have to analyze five or six sets of blood samples or more to find one with a compatibility rate of five in ten thousand.
"What a great start! There might actually be a miracle," said Guo Hai excitedly from the side.
Soon, the second report was printed out. Taking a look at it, Lu Ming said, "It’s two in ten thousand for compatibility."
This was normal.
The subsequent reports were all the sa, "Three in ten thousand, one in ten thousand, two in ten thousand."
Every ti Lu Ming picked up a report, he would read out the compatibility figure so that everyone else knew as well.
However, aside from the initial surprise from the first report, the rest soon returned to normal.
It wasn’t until he picked up the seventh report and glanced at it that his face showed a hint of surprise again, "Xiao Guo, I am starting to believe in the luck you ntioned. It’s another five in ten thousand."
To encounter two samples with a compatibility of five in ten thousand in the sa batch was a first for them, and truly no small feat.
"But what’s the use? We’re looking for a genetic fragnt with a compatibility of six in ten thousand," said Guo Hai.
"Who says it’s useless? The more genetic fragnts we have with a compatibility of five in ten thousand, the more options we’ll have when it’s ti to choose. You know, even among superhumans, there can be a big gap in strength," Lu Ming consoled.
As he spoke, he reached out to grab the eighth report.
But suddenly, Guo Hai said, "Ahem! Could I take a look at these last three reports?"
It was a small request, and Lu Ming gestured for him to go ahead.
Guo Hai took a deep breath, silently praying in his heart. He picked up the report and read, "The gene compatibility is five in ten thousand."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ming imdiately took the report and took a glance, "Damn, it’s really five in ten thousand. That’s the third one!"
At this, the other researchers also circled around, curious.
They all looked over the three reports, which stated a gene compatibility of five in ten thousand, their faces filled with disbelief.
At that mont, the printer produced the ninth report.
All eyes were drawn to it, and an irresistible sense of longing rose in everyone’s hearts.
After all, within the sa group of genetic samples, there were already three with five in ten thousand compatibility.
So, perhaps, maybe it was possible for there to be one with six in ten thousand?
Under everyone’s watchful gaze, Guo Hai, slightly nervous and hesitant, picked up the ninth report. After scanning it, he said with so disappointnt, "The compatibility is still five in ten thousand."
At this point, even Xu Zheng’an, the leading professor, couldn’t stay seated. He stood up, strode over, and picked up four reports, quickly flipping through them.
"Yang City is indeed a miraculous place!" he murmured to himself.
Tap tap tap!
The crisp sound of printing rose as the tenth report was finally printed.
With the appearance of this report, it seed to cast a spell, making everyone in the room hold their breath involuntarily.
And their gazes fell on Guo Hai.
At this mont, everyone was a little more inclined to believe in luck.
Guo Hai had felt two reports in a row, both reaching five in ten thousand, so naturally no one wanted to snatch the last one from him for fear of jinxing the good streak.
Taking a deep breath, Guo Hai quietly mumbled to himself, invoking nearly all the immortals and gods he could rember, seeking their blessing, before he finally picked up the last report.
Everyone could see that Guo Hai, as if he had stumbled upon sothing unbelievable, suddenly widened his eyes, and his hands holding the report began to tremble incessantly.
"Hey! Xiao Guo, say sothing!" Lu Ming couldn’t help but shout.
Seeing that the other man was almost in a daze, Lu Ming couldn’t care less, and directly snatched the report from his hands.
The next mont, his eyes also widened, and he exclaid in disbelief, "The gene compatibility is one percent!!!"
