In the official live stream room of Celestial City, Flint, an eighth-level Beast Master, was watching Miles Carter and Skylar slowly moving ahead, his face filled with admiration. He particularly admired Miles Carter, but of course, his admiration for Charles was the greatest.
Flint began to explain in the live stream: "For those of you who aren't very familiar with alchemy, you might not understand why Miles Carter just picked that plant and hunted a ferocious beast."
"He used these two materials to create a potion that most Beast Masters wouldn't know about, a potion that can temporarily mask the scent of a Beast Master."
The viewers in the live stream had been watching Miles Carter and Skylar's actions closely. Just monts ago, Miles Carter had hunted a ferocious beast, carefully picked a plant, then removed his and Skylar's shirts, allowing their respective flying mystical beasts to take their clothes and scatter.
At first, viewers didn't quite understand why they were doing this. But after hearing Flint's explanation, they finally realized that Miles Carter was misleading Charles!
This strategy worked because, no matter which direction Charles pursued, after traveling a certain distance, he would find all the clues and traces ahead of him completely vanished.
As long as they led Charles a bit farther, Miles Carter and Skylar's flying mystical beasts would be able to return. At that point, Charles would be unable to catch up with them.
In the live stream, the Genosha viewers couldn't help but express their admiration: they had to admit that Miles Carter was indeed quite clever.
"Ugh, the place where Miles Carter picked the plant was right near Charles, yet Charles just stopped right there and didn't move forward!"
"It's not Charles' fault. You saw how cautious Miles Carter was when he was picking the plant. Other than that plant, he didn't disturb anything—no bent grass, no footprints, nothing."
"Yeah, if it were , I'd definitely just pick a direction and chase after them. I can't bla Charles; the position he's in now is one where he can't detect anything."
The mood of the Genosha viewers was subdued. If any of them had been in Charles' position, they wouldn't have thought that Miles Carter would do such a thing. They wouldn't have noticed the trace left by the alchemy plant being picked.
Even if they had noticed, they wouldn't have known that the plant could be used to make a potion that masked scents.
Now, it seed that they would have to let Miles Carter and Skylar get away. If they returned to their team, the outco of the battle might not be as certain as they had hoped.
Just when everyone thought Charles would choose to chase after either the left or right direction, they saw Charles take a step forward—he simply continued walking straight ahead!
Flint, witnessing this, nearly had his eyes pop out of his head. He exclaid loudly:
"Charles has made a decision none of us expected! He picked the right direction!"
"Miles Carter spent a lot of ti and effort trying to mislead Charles, but Charles just took one look here and chose the correct direction."
"How did he do it? He obviously didn't detect the traces left by Miles Carter picking the alchemy plant! A fifth-level Beast Master's perception can't cover that kind of distance. Charles was still a long way from where the alchemy plant was picked!"
"Could it be that he guessed?"
Flint's voice was filled with astonishnt. Just monts ago, he thought Miles Carter's strategy was incredibly smart, capable of turning the tide of the situation. But now, he was being proven wrong.
If it had been him, with the perception of a fifth-level Beast Master, he definitely wouldn't have noticed anything unusual. For ninety-nine percent of Beast Masters, noticing that a plant had been picked from the dense underbrush would be next to impossible.
He might have chosen a direction and followed it too.
How did Charles manage to do it?
This huge question lingered in the minds of every viewer watching the live stream. The Genosha viewers, who had been feeling sowhat down just monts ago, were suddenly excited again. No matter how Charles had figured it out, the hope of victory had once again grown larger!
At this mont, in the live-stream footage, Miles Carter and Skylar were moving at an exceptionally slow pace. Every step they took seed to take a long ti because they were carefully clearing any potential traces that could reveal their direction.
Miles Carter took a deep breath, cautiously avoiding the leaves around him, constantly mindful of not leaving any footprints. He slowly spoke:
"Once the miracle drug that masks our scent wears off, we can move quickly. By then, Charles will probably have figured out the direction he chose. There will be no scent or traces left from us."
Skylar remained silent, occasionally letting out a sigh. Not having fought Charles in a true, close-quarters battle was a regret for him. At that mont, he clearly understood that once he and Miles Carter returned to the team, the outco for the Genosha Beast Masters would only be death.
Miles Carter was powerful not only because he was a dual-attribute Beast Master, skilled in both the Dark and Poison attributes, but also because of his extraordinary intelligence. He was smarter than any Beast Master Skylar had ever t!
If it were him chasing the enemy, he would also be misled into thinking that the enemy was acting separately.
Ava looked at the back of Miles Carter ahead, especially noting his tense posture and the clenched fist in his hand, all signaling one thing—that was his murderous intent toward Charles.
Suddenly, Ava spoke up: "Do you really want to kill Charles that badly?"
Miles Carter let out a cold laugh and slowly replied, "Yes, I've never wanted to kill soone as much as I do now. He took away the most important thing from ."
As the contract holder of Cursed Venom, Miles Carter's understanding of Cursed Venom surpassed everyone else's. He knew a piece of information that no one else did—that Cursed Venom could choose a second master.
In the past, Cursed Venom had never shown any signs of submission to anyone. It would only inflict endless suffering on its enemies, causing them to die in unimaginable agony.
But today, after using the Soul Link, Cursed Venom had subtly revealed signs of submission and a desire to follow Charles.
Miles Carter had nothing left—no friends, no family—only the Cursed Venom that cursed others' fates. Even if Charles did not form a contract with Cursed Venom, Miles Carter had to eradicate this possibility. He had to, he must kill Charles!
Miles Carter slowly exhaled. Anger could cloud one's judgnt, and he needed to stay calm.
They should be close to reaching the Kingston genius Beast Master team. Once they t up with the team, they could head straight for the central canyon area, and everything would proceed smoothly.
Charles would undoubtedly die!
With that thought, a slight smile curled at the corners of Miles Carter's lips. His eyes widened slowly, and his entire ntal state beca electrified with excitent and joy. He could hardly wait to see Charles suffer and die in agony.
Just then, a whistling sound broke the silence around them.
Miles Carter's pupils suddenly dilated, and his heartbeat quickened. Instinctively, he turned to look, only to see an arrow shooting out from the dense foliage, speeding straight toward them!
"Boom!" A trendous explosion rang out.
Miles Carter, scrambling out of the smoke, shouted in disbelief, "How is this possible?! No, it's impossible! You had no reason to choose this path, no reason!"
"Cheating! Charles, you must be cheating!"
"You have a way to contact the outside world, it has to be that!"
Miles Carter had completely broken down. He began to believe that Charles was cheating. The speed at which Charles had caught up ant that Charles had faced his carefully crafted misdirection without a mont of hesitation or doubt!
This was impossible. Miles Carter was confident that when he had picked the alchemy plant, he had left no obvious trace.
He had encountered several identical plants before, but their locations were very obvious. To prevent Charles from noticing, he had specifically chosen a place that was not easily spotted.
He had been so cautious, considering all possible factors, and yet, he still failed.
Skylar, looking at the wounds on his arm from the explosion, shouted loudly at Miles Carter, "You were so confident just now! How could Charles have caught up so quickly?!"
Miles Carter didn't look back and kept running forward, throwing out only one sentence: "There are a lot of trees here, and the visibility isn't great. Use the tree trunks to our advantage—he won't be able to lock onto us!"
Just as his voice faded, Miles Carter, running behind a tree, suddenly heard the whistling sound of an arrow from his side. Without a mont to think, he used the fastest speed he had ever run and quickly dodged.
"Boom!" Another explosion. This arrow was slightly less accurate, but Miles Carter was completely stunned.
The first arrow had co from behind, so how had this one co from the side?
Could there be two Charless?
While running, Miles Carter slapped himself hard across the face. He had to stay calm. How could there be two Charless?
Before long, Miles Carter heard the third whistling sound.
This ti, he listened intently to every sound, unwilling to miss any detail.
Finally, Miles Carter caught an unusual sound, very faint, nearly drowned out by the whistling of the arrows.
"Damn! The direction of the first arrow's whistle was coming from behind!"
"Charles' arrows can change direction in mid-air!" Miles Carter shouted loudly, trying to alert Skylar as best he could.
