Cecilia was just about to agree to help, thinking that Wynne wasn’t so stubborn after all as he knew to seek her help. However, he turned to Amy.
"Miss Lawrence, I heard you have so connections with David. Could you please persuade him to treat my father? Thank you!"
Though David’s reputation had diminished, many still acknowledged his professional skills. Right now, they needed him.
Amy glanced at Cecilia before nodding. She walked over to David, who was about to leave in his car. After the two exchanged words, David nodded before quickly leaving with the others.
Cecilia shrugged her shoulders. According to Wynne, his father, Thomas Whitmore, was terminally ill. Although David was an expert in pulmonary diseases, what he focused on in his research was slightly different from this illness. Even if he went, it probably wouldn’t help much.
Elena appeared behind Cecilia at so point, seemingly seeing through her thoughts, and spoke.
"Do you want to go and have a look? I heard Thomas was quite a legend in his youth. It’s surprising that he fell ill so suddenly in the past few years..."
Cecilia thought for a mont and shook her head.
‘Since they already said they won’t accept my help, it’s better if I don’t disturb him.’
anwhile, Steven had just returned ho and couldn’t figure out anything from looking at his phone.
He rubbed his temples, wondering if he was being too sensitive. Perhaps Cecilia was just brushing him off when she ntioned seeing Alex’s photo.
‘Photo... Right, where is that photo of Cecilia’s daughter that I had my people look into? It usually wouldn’t take this long for them to send it over.’
He quickly sent a ssage to Zane.
[Have you found a photo of Cecilia’s daughter yet?]
Zane, upon reading the ssage, was puzzled.
‘Photo... didn’t I send one over a while ago? Was it a mistake on my part?’
Thinking that, he sent the picture again to Steven.
Steven opened the photo to see an image of Emma as a newborn at the hospital.
All newborns looked quite similar—while you could tell the baby could turn out pretty, that’s about the extent of it.
In the photo, Emma looked as wrinkly as Alex did when he was young. Back then, when Alex was just brought ho, Ethan had mistaken him for a monkey that Steven had picked up from sowhere.
With that thought, he closed the phone.
There wasn’t even a single recent photo; Cecilia seed to be protecting Emma very well.
On the other hand, Cecilia took Elena and Jas to check the production volu of pills with the experts before taking them back ho.
Elena couldn’t hide her delight as she stepped out of the car.
"One hundred pills have been produced already. The workers will soon be able to receive treatnt."
Jas nodded in agreent.
"This is all thanks to Cecilia."
The three got out of the car and imdiately encountered Mary, who had been waiting for a while.
Her eyes were filled with disdain for Cecilia, but guilt when she looked at Elena and Jas.
She stepped forward to take Elena’s handbag.
"Aunt, Uncle, about last ti, I..."
Elena, having been the one who raised her, wouldn’t bla her. It was better for everyone to just be in harmony.
She shook her head.
"I’m fine, but you did wrongly accuse Cecilia."
Saying this, she took one of Mary’s hands and one of Cecilia’s.
Mary looked at Cecilia with a cold expression.
"I heard about the party. Your dicine is certainly effective. However, as your elder, it’s not appropriate for to apologize to soone younger than ."
Cecilia shrugged, interrupting Elena, who wanted to say more. Mary’s arrogance was not going to change overnight, so there was no need for further words.
"Great-aunt, Emma is waiting for at ho. I’d better get going."
Having said that, she got into the car and drove away.
At the Whitmore family’s residence.
Wynne and the others drove for quite so ti past the halfway point before reaching the Whitmore family villa.
Typically, only Thomas and a few servants stayed at this villa.
Thomas never liked noise, especially so after falling ill; he preferred to remain secluded.
They hurried to his bedside, finding him unconscious and surviving on a nutrient infusion.
His thin fra and cool deanor bore so resemblance to Cecilia’s.
Wynne felt saddened; his father was not in such a bad condition during his last visit.
At Amy’s prompting, David began seriously examining Thomas.
Twenty minutes later, he shook his head.
Wynne asked anxiously, "How is he?"
David pondered a mont before speaking.
"Your father’s lung disease has beco irreversible. The only solution at present is a lung transplant, preferably from a blood relative."
This statent hit like a thunderbolt. Everyone knew Thomas never got married, had no children, and only adopted two–Wynne and an adopted daughter nad Susan Whitmore.
This essentially ant that Thomas was left waiting for death.
David shook his head. "When I examined him a few years ago, his symptoms were mild enough that he was likely still able to live until he was at an older age if he was under proper care. But in just a few short years..."
Suddenly, a thought struck Amy.
"There is soone who might be able to save Uncle Thomas."
