Half an hour later, Cecilia appeared at Adrian’s courtyard door with Alex.
She had to settle the score with this old man. He had known Alex was her son, yet he didn’t bother to tell her!
Inside the courtyard, Adrian was looking for a place to hide. All he wanted was to take on an apprentice; what was so wrong with that?
Cecilia suddenly pushed the door open.
"Old Ari! I’ve co to deal with you!"
She caught Adrian just as he was about to hide in the side room, awkwardly smiling.
"I can explain..."
Before he could finish, the two began a chase around the courtyard. Alex watched them, smiling in half-amusent.
He never expected his mom to have such a playful side.
He had always thought of her as soone who was independent, calm, and strong. Although she appeared angry, there was a hint of a smile at the corners of her eyes.
In front of Adrian, she was also just a child herself.
After enough chasing, Adrian was out of breath and admitted defeat.

Adrian sighed.
"The problem here is that he is Steven Lawrence."
Cecilia suddenly felt frustrated.
"Otherwise, I might just snatch Alex away. You hire a car for , and I’ll be responsible for grabbing him."
"... The Lawrence family has deep connections in Star City. You would probably get caught before leaving the city’s premises."

Adrian continued earnestly.

Watching Adrian’s serious analysis, Cecilia teased.
"You seem quite satisfied with him. Why not take him yourself then?"

Cecilia chuckled at his reaction.
She thought maybe she should find a chance to explain everything to Steven. She was Alex’s mom, and he was Alex’s dad. Telling him would not be sothing overboard to do. Moreover, after spending these months with him, she noticed Steven did not seem as cold and ruthless as rumors suggested.
While she was pondering, Steven’s car suddenly appeared at the courtyard gate.
It seed he was here to send Emma for lessons. What a good opportunity!
Emma jumped out of the car and jogged into the courtyard, smiling sweetly when she saw Cecilia.
"Mommy!"
Cecilia affectionately ruffled her hair.
"Is Brother here too? Where is he? I want to play with him~"
That was when Cecilia noticed that this child really doted on her brother.
"Your brother is studying inside. When you go inside, don’t disturb him, okay?"
Emma obediently nodded, then cheerfully ran into the living room to find Alex.
Cecilia glanced over at Steven, who hadn’t gotten out of the car yet. Just as she was about to approach him, she noticed soone else in the car—Ethan. The two inside seed to be discussing sothing, unaware of her approaching. However, she heard Steven’s cold voice from within the car.
"I’ll co back to pick up Alex in two hours. By the way, Brother, how do we deal with these won pretending to be Alex’s mom?”
"As usual. Teach them a lesson and expel them from Star City."
Ethan understood and thought about it for a while, but he couldn’t help asking.
"What if Alex’s real mom cos back?"
"Dead."
It was only one word, yet it carried a chilling implication. It made Ethan shiver and fall silent before he drove away.
He was relieved he had not rashly exposed Cecilia’s identity.
It also made Cecilia, who was walking over, suddenly stop in her tracks.
