Eros didn’t need a diviner to tell him that sothing was coming; sothing he would rather not have an encounter with. He took to his heels imdiately, desperate to escape whatever was behind him.
At this point, he no longer needed to muffle his footsteps, so he stopped caring about stealth.
The tremors grew consistently more violent and a bad feeling welled up in Eros’ chest. From ti to ti, he would inadvertently glance over his shoulders, but he was t with a thick coagulation of shadows and nurous pairs of eyes, glowing with a pale light.
Eros chest tightened when he saw this, he could only run faster while cursing under his breath.
As if his life depended on it, he forced himself to run harder, even though his lungs were burning. He burst forth with more energy than he knew he had, trying to create so distance with whatever was behind him. Whatever those creatures were, they were too many for him to even think about fighting back.
Unluckily for him, though, this group of monsters was unnaturally fast, and what had been a distance of over a hundred tres shrank to less than fifty.
He could already feel them behind him. Their pale white gaze pierced into his exposed back. Left with no other choice, he focused his yang energy into his feet, said a silent prayer and exploded the force.
An absurd amount of energy flowed into his feet, causing him to grimace in pain as a line of blood, flowed down from the corners of his mouth. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it had been before he achieved a perfect body, but it was still subpar.
The force of exploding Yang sent him flying forward. He didn’t let himself fall as that would put him in a more precarious situation.
Landing on his two feet, there was no ti for him to even as much as heave a sigh.
The dim purple glow in his hands illuminated a few ters in front of him, and he could vaguely make out the junction he had passed earlier.
His eyes squinted into two slits as he contemplated his next course of action.
The creatures behind him didn’t seem to be chasing him in particular, they were most likely running away from sothing or soone—most likely Lain—and he just happened to be in their way.
This was the scenario he liked to believe, after all if they were really chasing him, his chances of survival were slimr than a needle.
With that in mind, he figured his best shot was to use the junction to get out of the herd’s way.
"Fuck for coming near this goddamn mountain." If only he had known what he had been throwing himself into.
The herd were closing in, and they were doing so fast. Eros didn’t want to explode any more yang in his body, not only would this hamper his future ability to fight, but he also felt it was a waste as he would rather use the ability in a fight. So, he just kept running.
He could feel them behind him, inching closer with every second, and his breath grew ragged as he pushed his body to the extre.
He could see the junction, his last hope, just a few tres away. But, the creatures behind him didn’t seem to be any farther. And they were closing the distance faster.
Gritting his teeth, Eros released his dragon blood aura. Surprisingly, the creatures didn’t seem to be affected as they kept on running. He wondered if they were even living things.
He felt the domineering energy from the technique diffuse through his blood, granting him another boost.
In the end, the boost was what he needed, as he pushed himself forward, arriving at the junction.
Imdiately, he turned to the side and picked the closest tunnel before running into it. Without wasting an extra second, he turned off the dragon blood aura and tried to be as quiet as possible.
He felt the tremors violently as the herd passed through the junction and kept on moving straight down without stopping for a second.
Eros heaved a sigh of relief as his legs grew weak and he sat on the floor.
This breath was uneven and he tried his best to stabilise himself.
Everything had happened so fast, and he hadn’t even been given any ti to fully understand what was going on. Perhaps this was the heavens’ way of punishing him.
He chuckled knowing that wasn’t it, after all, what had an innocent dual cultivator like him ever done to deserve sothing like this. It was most likely his bad luck, piling up after days of good luck.
After stabilising his breath, he got up. He couldn’t afford to waste ti. After all, the herd was going to et a dead end and they were going to co back in the end. He needed to find a way out of this accursed place before that happened.
After stretching his limbs, he noticed that his purple fla had died on the way.
Rubbing his hands together, another blue fla ca alive, illuminating the interior of this new cave. It was then that he noticed sothing he hadn’t noticed before.
There were nurous wisps of darkness, floating around in this cave. They weren’t large, and three of them would be needed to be as big as his fist. But these wisps caused him to feel an unnatural sense of danger.
They were also moving towards him, albeit slowly. No, they weren’t even moving towards him; they were moving towards the fla in his hand.
Eros didn’t plan on letting them touch him. He picked up a stone and flicked it at one of the wisps. Imdiately, they ca in contact, and the wisp exploded.
It was a silent explosion, but the powerful shockwave sent him back a few ters.
After stabilising himself Eros’ stared at the nurous wisps coming towards him. He could count more than a hundred of them, and there were probably more down the paths.
If just a single explosion was so powerful, he would, without an iota of doubt, die if they all t him.
Imdiately, he turned off the purple fla in his hand. The wisp stopped moving towards him imdiately he did that.
But that raised another question: How in the world was he supposed to manoeuvre his way around them, while also being blind?
