The monk regarded her thoughtfully.
"Your willingness to help is comndable. However, Madam Cai personally oversees the event. You will need her approval."
Yu i’s eyes sparkled with determination.
"I will do my best to earn her trust, Reverend. Thank you for the opportunity."
She bowed deeply and set off to prepare, her mind already buzzing with plans to outshine everyone at the event.
....................
At the shooting location.
Yu Holea, shook her head when she saw the news sent by Yu i.
Yu i was smart but starting with the Qiao Family was a dumb idea.
Having lived with the Qiao family for 2 years, Yu Holea knew what type of people the Qiao Family was.
She put her phone aside and her gaze drifted to the woman entering the shooting location.
Her destiny ring had a golden glow, but it was covered by black clouds. Her death was near...
No...
Yu Holea narrowed her eyes and frowned.
The woman should already be dead by now...how was she even alive?
Yu Holea’s gaze lingered on Xin Zhi, the female lead of the movie, as she walked gracefully onto the set.
There was an ethereal quality about her—an understated elegance that imdiately drew everyone’s attention.
Even the crew mbers couldn’t help but murmur in admiration.
When the director called for silence, Xin Zhi effortlessly slipped into character.
Her acting was srizing, each movent fluid, each line delivered with such depth that even the most seasoned actors seed to pale in comparison.
She moved the hearts of everyone present, her charisma almost tangible.
Yet, despite her brilliance, Yu Holea’s sharp eyes didn’t miss a curious detail: Xin Zhi carefully avoided any scene that involved water.
During a particular shot where her character was ant to run through a light drizzle, she protested, her tone calm but firm.
"Director, I feel the rain would dilute the intensity of the scene," Xin Zhi suggested, her voice smooth as silk.
The director frowned but nodded, impressed by her professionalism and keen understanding of her role.
Later, when a poolside sequence was proposed, Xin Zhi outright refused.
"I’m not comfortable with water scenes," she said firmly, her serene expression betraying no hint of fear or discomfort.
The refusal raised eyebrows, but Xin Zhi’s extraordinary performance overshadowed any doubts. Yu Holea, however, remained suspicious.
After the day’s shoot wrapped up, Yu Holea reported the abnormalities in Xin Zhi to the special forces.
Though she can take on any case without needing to explain, to avoid suspicions, Yu Holea always reports the matter, until and unless the matter is too urgent and can’t be ignored.
Once the call ended, Yu Holea made her way to the makeup room to freshen up before heading ho.
But as she approached the door, hushed voices drifted through the slightly ajar entrance, stopping her in her tracks.
"...Shay, you’re pushing it too far," a man’s voice said, his tone tinged with frustration.
Shay? Yu Holea’s heart skipped a beat. That na sounded painfully familiar. She leaned closer, careful not to make a sound.
"You don’t understand," Xin Zhi’s voice, or rather Shay’s, replied with a cold edge. "This is the only way I can stay alive. If they find , it’s over."
The man sighed heavily. "You can’t keep running forever. They’ll catch up sooner or later."
Yu Holea frowned.
Shay? That seed to be a familiar na...
Yu Holea thought for a while and rembered where she had heard of the na Shay.
In her previous life, the book containing the entries of her first life had ntioned Shay. Shay insulted Yu i and died after 2 months.
Cause of death? It was unknown.
Just then the man’s eyes t with Yu Holea and he imdiately shouted,
"Who is there?"
Yu Holea didn’t hide. Instead, she pushed open the door, entered the room, and closed the door. With a calm expression on her face, she turned to Shay and said,
"Miss Xin, it will be better if you don’t use any orthodox thod to extend your life."
Xin Zhi stared at Yu Holea with a chilling gaze for a brief mont before smiling,
"Miss Yu, what are you talking about? I don’t understand you. In fact I don’t even know you."
"Exactly what are you thinking? I won’t stop you. At least not for the ti being. As for knowing ...don’t worry you will know soon." Yu Holea said and left.
It would be fruitless to confront Xin Zhi for now.
That day when Yu Holea returned to her villa, she found the lights of the villa were off. Just as she was wondering what was happening, the light was suddenly turned on.
As the villa’s lights flickered on, Yu Holea froze montarily at the unexpected brilliance illuminating her usually dim and serene space.
Her sharp instincts imdiately triggered suspicion, but before she could use her mystic energy to attack, a familiar voice spoke, rich and low, carrying a warmth that lted her tension.
"Welco ho, Holea."
She turned toward the source, her eyes widening at the sight before her.
Qiao Jun stood in the center of the living room, his striking black hair slightly tousled and his piercing blue eyes reflecting the soft glow of the candles surrounding them.
The entire space had been transford into an intimate haven.
The dining table was adorned with an elegant white lace cloth, a single red rose resting in a crystal vase. Golden fairy lights cascaded along the walls like tiny, twinkling stars, casting a dreamlike ambiance over the room.
Soft, lodic piano music drifted from hidden speakers, filling the air with a romantic serenade.
For a mont, Yu Holea could do nothing but stare, her breath caught between disbelief and awe. "Qiao Jun..." she whispered, her voice barely audible.
His lips curved into a gentle smile as he stepped closer, his presence grounding her in a way that only he could.
"Four years ago, we beca each other’s. I missed three of those years, but tonight, I want to make up for lost ti. Happy first anniversary, Holea."
Yu Holea felt a rare warmth bloom in her chest.
It wasn’t just the effort—it was the way Qiao Jun understood her so deeply, even after all they’d been through.
"You didn’t have to go to all this trouble," she said softly, though her voice betrayed a hint of emotion.
"I did," he replied, his tone firm yet tender.
"You carried the weight of both our lives while I was in that coma. This is the least I can do to remind you that I’m here now, and I’m not going anywhere."
He held out his hand, and without hesitation, she placed hers in his. His touch was warm and reassuring, his fingers intertwining with hers as though they had never been apart.
"Let’s start with dinner," he said, leading her to the table.
As they sat, Qiao Jun revealed a ticulously prepared al: her favorite dishes, each plated with the precision of a five-star chef.
"I rembered everything," he said, a touch of pride in his voice.
Yu Holea couldn’t suppress a soft laugh. "You’ve outdone yourself," she admitted.
"No...I just want to make up for the ti you were suffering all alone." Qiao Jun said softly. He reached out and held her hand, in a soft voice, he whispered,
"Holea, thank you for being in my life. I don’t know how I would have ended up if you weren’t there. These past few months, when you ignored, I felt like dying. I can’t understand how you were able to hold on for 3 years."
Qiao Jun’s eyes moistened. He knew Yu Holea...she was a type of woman who would act tough, never cry, and act responsibly whenever faced with difficult situation.
However...she needed soone to support her.
In the past 3 years, she pushed herself. Took care of him, his business, and even his family to so extent. She made sure no one hard the people he cared about.
But in the end...he hard the only one he didn’t want to. Even so she forgave him.
His baby, who would leave a place just because she can’t tolerate even a slightest injustice, stayed behind, just because she didn’t want to lose him...
He felt his heart aching.
Yu Holea’s gaze softened as Qiao Jun’s words sank in.
"Jun," she began, her voice steady but carrying a rare gentleness,
"I didn’t hold on for gratitude or recognition. I held on because losing you wasn’t an option. You’ve always been my anchor, even when you weren’t awake."
Qiao Jun’s fingers tightened around hers, his expression a mix of love and guilt.
"You deserve so much more than what I’ve given you, Holea. But from now on, I swear, I will be the man who stands beside you, not behind you, not ahead of you—but as your equal."
Yu Holea’s eyes moistened and she changed the subject,
"I am so hungry! Let’s eat first."
