Zhao Yi felt like he had joined so sort of cult.
"Co, co, join the cult!"
"Welco, newcor!"
"At last we have another companion who shares our beliefs!"
Co to think of it, it made sense.
Theoretical physics is like that. Believing in a certain theory is really like having a faith, whether it be Supersymtry, Grand Unification, String Theory, or Multiple Universes...
Each one cannot be proven in a short ti, but can give birth to a school of thought.
The Big Bang Theory, widely popularized and known even by elentary school students, talks about the expanding distances between galaxies or the observable remote parts of the universe asuring so and so many billion light years. However, using these conditions to indicate that the universe is expanding is clearly insufficient.
The Big Bang is, after all, only a doctrine of theoretical physics.
Now, Zhao Yi is getting ready to delve into these theories, not just to understand what they are but to study their mathematical foundations, hoping to increase his knowledge and tie it to 3D seismic waveforms.
...
Ti flies when you’re learning. Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.
School season is here!
Fan Lei and Li Renzhe arrived very early.
The student council held a welco event, and many early birds signed up to participate. Fan Lei, now a senior, participated in the welco event as fervently as if he was on a power trip.
"So you ca a week early just to welco the freshn girls?" Zhao Yi asked Fan Lei, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah, aren’t you going to too?"
Fan Lei said expectantly, "Helping juniors, it’s such a good deed! As the god of biological sciences, I cannot shirk my responsibility."
"Pfft!"
Zhao Yi almost choked on his words, "You’re just trying to find a girlfriend, right? A pretty freshman just entering university..."
"What are you talking about? I just want to help..."
"Get out!"
Fan Lei walked off, laughing.
Zhao Yi turned to Li Renzhe, "What’s up with you? How co you’re so early? Didn’t you register?"
"I’m not going."
"Then why did you co early?"
"I ca early to study." Li Renzhe pointed to the advanced math book in his hand.
Zhao Yi looked blank, "If I rember correctly, you ntioned in the Penguin Group chat that you passed your math exam with a 69."
"..."
Li Renzhe’s face darkened, he thought he’d score higher, but getting a 69 was quite disheartening. He couldn’t understand it, he was supposed to get full marks in his routine tests and sowhere around a 70 or 80 on his final, it should’ve averaged out higher than 80, right?
How did he end up with only a 69!
This score made him the worst perforr in their dormitory, even two points lower than Fan Lei.
Li Renzhe decided to stay silent.
Zhao Yi could clearly see that Li Renzhe wasn’t really studying at all, he was simply ssing around on his phone and his book was just for show.
"What’s going on?"
Zhao Yi asked puzzledly, "How about a round of gas?"
"No, I have sothing to do." Li Renzhe responded firmly.
Zhao Yi didn’t pay it much mind. He was just waiting for Fan Lei to return, knowing they could play online gas later that night.
That evening.
Fan Lei did return.
But Li Renzhe was nowhere to be seen. He sent a ssage saying, "Won’t be back tonight."
"Old Li isn’t coming back?"
"He went to an internet cafe for the night? But why? He has a computer."
"What’s he up to?"
"Could he be on a date?" Fan Lei’s eyes widened suddenly, an image ca to his mind.
It was a plump, short-skirted, stockings-wearing... cough cough.
Zhao Yi thought of it too.
They looked at each other and simultaneously lit up with gossip fever.
