Wanqing found herself saying those words without any form of hesitation, she didn’t even think about how weird it might have sounded.

’Mine’ Wanqing said inwardly, oblivious of the small smile she had on her face.

Qingyue frowned instantly, an emotion so ugly flashed through her eyes. Before she could respond, Wanqing had turned away and was now walking towards the door.

The second she stood in front of the door, the wooden doors slid open.

"I always get what I want, Wanqing." Xiao Qingyue suddenly said, making Wanqing pause mid-step.

Behind her, Xiao Qingyue’s voice sounded softer than usual...yet, sohow it made her words sound threatening.

"Today won’t change that."

Wanqing didn’t respond, heck she didn’t know what to say. She calmly stepped out of the room, the doors sliding close behind her.

anwhile, Anning was beginning to regret why she hadn’t passed out from blood loss. The physician had already treated the wound and left soon after.

"Can you stop fidgeting?" Yuelan yelled, her annoying voice echoed through the small room.

How did she end up here you might wonder? Well, after the physician left... Yuelan offered to wipe the blood off her face.

Anning had firmly refused but well...

"How can I not fidget? I thought you hated ." She said, frowning slightly.

"I don’t hate you. I just see you as a hypocrite." Yuelan responded, shrugging as she dropped the rag in her hand into a bowl just beside her.

"Don’t call that." Anning snapped.

Yuelan glared at her and Anning glared right back. The blonde haired girl scoffed before looking away first.

Mostly because she was afraid she’d end up slapping Anning.

Seeing Yuelan seated in front of her and leaving this room to go face Wanqing, Anning wasn’t sure which she disliked at this point.

Yuelan stared down at her hands folded neatly in her lap and then asked, "Do you know why the princess wants you?"

Anning blinked. She felt nothing but confusion at that mont, how was she supposed to know?

"No." She answered calmly.

"The answer is really simple, because you an sothing to young Miss Gu." Yuelan said.

Anning stared at her for a few seconds, then imdiately burst out laughing.

The sound of her laughter echoed through the room, she laughed softly hard that her stomach soon started to hurt.

"What’s so funny?" Yuelan demanded with a darkened expression on her face.

Anning wiped tears from the corner of her eyes, pointed at herself. Then at Yuelan before asking, "Did you hit your head sowhere?"

Yuelan let out a small sigh, slapping a hand over her forehead as Anning continued laughing.

"? an sothing to Wanqing? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all day." Anning said.

Yuelan stood up abruptly, turning toward the door as she said, "Forget it."

Instantly, Anning stopped laughing and quickly cleared her throat.

"Wait, I’m sorry. That was quite rude of ."

She had expected Yuelan to angrily storm away, but the blonde haired girl slowly sat back down.

"Nobles always take what they want Anning. If they can take properties, land, artifacts...what makes you think the imperial princess can’t take you?" Yuelan asked, folding her arms against her chest.

"Because it’s not..."

She had wanted to say proper, but ever since she ca here. Nothing had been proper.

From the way she always got slapped or almost got killed by n who were twice her size. She knew people here were free to do as they please.

And this was the exact reason why she wanted to go ho. She misses ice cream, noodles, mochi...and even her phone!

"I have just one piece of advice for you, Anning. Stay away from Gu Wanqing and maybe, just maybe...the imperial princess might lose interest in you." Yuelan said softly.

The mont those words left her mouth, Anning’s mind instantly went back to the kiss she had shared with Wanqing. Could she really be able to stay away from Wanqing?

"I-i understand." Anning responded.

Before they could dwell on the topic any longer, the door suddenly slid open. Both Anning and Yuelan looked up instinctively.

Wanqing stepped into the room first, with Han Luo following closely behind her. The once harmonious atmosphere changed to sothing that made Anning gag.

Yuelan jumped to her feet, she lowered her head... bowing respectfully. "Greetings, Young miss."

Wanqing acknowledged her with a small nod while Han Luo rely glanced at her. As for Anning?

She wasn’t even looking at them, she didn’t move... didn’t bother to even stand. Why should she?

At that mont, respect was the last thing on her mind and why should she respect Wanqing?

Because she was her owner? A noble or even a mistress?

Because as a person, Anning knew she didn’t deserve her respect.

Just thinking about everything that had happened today made her irritated and anger flared up over again.

Wanqing glanced at her briefly before turning towards Yuelan and saying, "If you remain here any longer, Xiao Qingyue might decide to leave you behind."

Yuelan’s eyes widened imdiately, color already draining from her face. "Shit."

Without a second to spare, she hurriedly bowed again. Then turned toward Anning, "It was nice talking to you again. Excuse ."

Her whole sentence ca out sounding rushed and slightly panicked. Anning rely nodded at her, watching as the blonde haired girl literally ran out of the room.

The mont she was gone, Wanqing let out a small smile and turned to Han Luo, "Leave us."

Han Luo didn’t question her order. He simply bowed and turned toward the door.

Unfortunately for Wanqing, Anning had no intention of remaining in this room. She picked up the bowl of bloodstained water and pushed herself to her feet.

If Wanqing wanted privacy, she could have it for all she cared. Anning would gladly remove herself from this whole situation.

She had just taken a few steps toward the door, when Wanqing tilted her head at Han Luo.

Han Luo understood that gesture instantly, he practically rushed past Anning. The door slid closed with a loud thud before she could even reach it.

Anning froze, her lips stretching into a smile that was sweet enough to fool anyone unfamiliar with her.

Anning slowly turned around, the bowl still in her hands as her green eyes ca to settle on Wanqing.

"Oh, it’s you." She blurted out, feigning confusion. "You finally decided to speak to ?"
