Sang Luo arrived at the scorched forest. At so point, a torrential downpour had begun, extinguishing the flas, but it also washed away any lingering scent of her departed loved one.

She searched through the ruins for a long ti but couldn’t find Caesar’s body. Even the corpses of the Star Beasts in the forest had been reduced to ash. Nothing was left.

’Were even the ashes burned away? And my two children...’

Sang Luo could barely breathe. Devastated and lost, she walked forward aimlessly.

She tried to find that familiar scent again, but there was truly nothing.

She didn’t know where she had walked to.

The broad, silvery-white surface of a river shimred with a cold light.

Suddenly, Sang Luo’s body went stiff, the hairs on her arms standing on end—an instinctual biological reaction to danger.

Countless crimson eyes were staring at her covetously from the shadows.

This feeling was very familiar...

Sang Luo rembered the group of Sea Beasts she had seen on the cruise ship.

She had almost forgotten that many great rivers led directly to the sea, and Sea Beasts traveled inland through these waterways.

This was the month when most Sea Beastn were in heat, and many Beastn would travel to land to find mates.

Over a hundred Sea Beastn of various appearances climbed out of the river, surrounding Sang Luo.

They had clearly targeted her!

’Counting the days, my period is due soon. To think that would attract these things.’

Sang Luo’s hands, hanging by her sides, trembled slightly. She was physically and ntally exhausted. She could handle a few of them, but against such a large group... she had no chance of winning.

A Seventh Rank Sea Beastman, who seed to be the leader, stared greedily at Sang Luo with his crimson eyes. He let out a strange, excited cry from his throat, then charged forward, grabbing her wrist and tackling her to the ground.

His hard, sharp claws, covered in dark black scales, nearly tore her delicate skin to shreds!

He tore violently at her clothes!

Sang Luo’s face paled. She activated her Space Power, but unexpectedly, she teleported along with the male Beastman on top of her.

He seed surprised that she possessed a Talent Ability, which only made him more excited.

Sang Luo cursed loudly, kicking with all her might, trying to break free.

Using electricity, using her spiritual power to repel him... nothing worked against the frenzied, High Rank Male Beast. She was on the verge of despair. There is no greater sorrow than a dead heart.

"SPLAT!" Warm blood splattered across her face. The Sea Beastman had been torn to pieces alive.

A man with long, silver-blue hair appeared, staring at her with great interest.

He was still holding a severed limb from the Sea Beast, which he casually tossed aside.

Beautiful, fierce, cruel.

These three words suddenly surfaced in Sang Luo’s mind.

’This beautiful, silver-blue-haired Beastman... he seems to be... the rmaid I saw in the sea last ti?’

’To think we’d et again. Fate really is a curious thing.’

The rmaid Beastman seed extrely interested in Sang Luo. He circled her twice, then scooped her up and brought her to an island surrounded by the sea.

The damp, salty sea breeze drifted past.

Sang Luo gazed out as far as she could, but she couldn’t see the edge of the azure sea, her thoughts a turbulent mix.

She turned to look at the man before her. He was also staring at her curiously, now and then touching her face or grabbing her hair, his silver-blue eyes filled with interest and affection.

Sang Luo took two steps back. "...What’s your na? Why did you bring here?"

He made a purring sound and moved closer, gently nuzzling her face.

Sang Luo blinked in confusion, unsure what he ant, so she asked again.

He still didn’t speak, but his purring grew louder than before, seeming to carry a hint of ingratiation.

As Sang Luo got closer, she could finally hear it clearly. The strange sound wasn’t coming directly from his throat; rather, it seed to be a vibration from his chest, revealing its owner’s pleased mood.

A bold guess suddenly ford in Sang Luo’s mind. "You... you can’t talk, can you?"

He still didn’t react to her words, continuing to nuzzle her face gently. Sang Luo’s heart sank to the pit of her stomach as she asked in a trembling voice, "You... you can’t understand ?"

The Beastn she usually interacted with, aside from their beast forms, weren’t that different from humans. They had prosperous civilizations, written and spoken languages, and were even stronger than humans... In her heart, Sang Luo had always seen Beastn as just another form of human evolution; she had never considered them to be wild animals.

But the rmaid before her now seed to subvert her entire understanding.

’He can’t speak? Can’t understand my language?’

’Like a... beast that hasn’t fully evolved.’

For a mont, Sang Luo stood frozen on the spot, unable to say a word.

The rmaid seed to think she was hungry. He turned and went into the sea, returning a short while later with a fat fish clenched in his mouth that weighed a dozen or so pounds. The fish was still struggling, thrashing its tail wildly, until he bit down and snapped its spine. He then let it drop to the ground and looked over at her.

When she didn’t move, he nudged his catch toward her. Sang Luo snapped out of her daze, walked over, and asked, "Is this for ?"

He perhaps thought she was praising him, as he gave a gentle flick of his tail.

"..." ’Asking was pointless.’

It seed the fish really was for her.

Beastn were never generous with food. The prey they hunted was either for themselves or to feed their mates.

’Has he taken a fancy to and decided to keep as his mate?’

Seeing that Sang Luo had no intention of eating, the rmaid flicked his tail anxiously. He suddenly bent down, took a bite of the fish, chewed the at until it was soft and mushy, and then tried to feed it to her directly from his mouth.

The fishy, salty at, mixed with broken scales, was forced down her throat. Sang Luo shoved him away, coughing violently. Her face was flushed, and tears were welling in her eyes—this rmaid really was a senseless beast! She had rarely seen even Beastn in the tribes eat raw at!

"This fish... you didn’t even gut it or scale it! How am I supposed to eat this!"

’A raw fish, fresh from the water... does he expect to just swallow it whole?’

Sang Luo suddenly rembered reading in so book that 69% of this land was ocean, and only 8% of the Deep Sea had been explored. Of those, less than 20% of the Deep Sea Beastn had contact with the land. Most of the deep-sea regions were in a primitive, ancient state from millions of years ago. Their civilizations were undeveloped, they had no writing or language, and the Beastn from the extre depths of the sea were akin to primitive, savage beasts.

In the end, Sang Luo decided to fend for herself and prepare the fish.

The rmaid watched her movents with a puzzled expression. Sang Luo had originally wanted to roast the fish, but realizing she couldn’t communicate with him or ask him to find firewood, she decided to just eat it as sashimi.

Sang Luo looked around for a sharp tool, but her gaze ultimately fell on the rmaid’s hands.

He was still in his rmaid beast form. His silver-blue fishtail and forearms were covered in a layer of silver-blue scales. Moving upward, the scales gradually faded in color and shrank in size, appearing to beco softer and more transparent, before transitioning into the cool white, humanoid skin of his upper body.

But upon closer inspection, the skin not covered by scales had a thin, slick film over it. She guessed it was for protecting a rmaid’s skin, or perhaps to help them swim more nimbly in the water.

The scales on his tail were the largest, but they were thinner than Caesar’s, yet looked incredibly sharp.

Sang Luo initially wanted to pull a scale off him, but after a mont’s thought, she decided that would be too offensive and took his hand instead.

His hands were also in a semi-bestial state, with extrely sharp nails. With a light flick, they cut as if through mud. The fish was quickly sliced into neat rows of chunks and fillets.
