Since there was still so ti before the peace talks between the three Biblical factions began, Yasaka ended up staying at Ren's place.
The apartnt Ren had rented only had two bedrooms and a living room—one room for him, one for Kunou.
But after their candid conversation the previous night, the relationship between Ren and Yasaka had grown noticeably closer. At the very least, it was no longer the purely transactional "sworn siblings" bond it had been before.
That very night, after changing into her sleepwear, Yasaka had made a rather bold suggestion—to further deepen their relationship, she proposed sleeping in Ren's room.
Dressed in a loose nightshirt that barely reached her thighs, the fabric stretched tightly across her chest, while her long, bare legs were completely exposed—enough to dazzle anyone who looked.
Ren had to admit… it was an extrely tempting offer.
But in the end, he swallowed hard, steeled his expression, and firmly rejected her. Without another word, he turned around and locked his bedroom door.
"What a sha," Yasaka murmured to herself outside, tilting her head thoughtfully. "I thought Brother wouldn't refuse."
"When he ca back earlier, I could clearly sll quite a few different won on him…"
"Could it be that my choice of clothing was the problem? Perhaps I should try wearing a student sailor uniform next ti…"
Yes—Yasaka was a fox yokai too. If Kunou could sll those traces, there was no way Yasaka couldn't.
Inside the room, however, Ren heard none of this. Thanks to the soundproof barrier Yasaka had set up, her muttering never reached him.
Otherwise, he would've imdiately protested at full volu that he was not into uniforms—and definitely not so kind of degenerate who preyed on students!
—
Ring, ring, ring, ring—!
Early the next morning, Ren was jolted awake by the sound of his alarm clock.
Still half-asleep, he reached out instinctively toward where he rembered placing it.
"Mm—!"
But instead of hitting the clock, his hand sank into sothing astonishingly soft—sothing far too large to grasp with one hand.
And the faint, startled sound that followed instantly snapped him fully awake.
"Brother… you're up early…" ca a drowsy, languid voice beside him. "Yasaka was quite tired last night… so I'd like to sleep a little longer…"
Ren turned his head.
There, lying right beside him, was a fox-eared beauty—her collar wide open, her posture utterly unguarded.
As his eyes took in the scene, he imdiately realized exactly what his hand had just grabbed.
"Don't 'sleep a little longer'—wake up and explain this!" Ren roared, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her awake.
"I locked my door last night! So why the hell are you in my bed?!"
"And what do you an you were 'tired'?! Don't tell you did sothing else while I was asleep?!"
Yasaka, clearly unwilling to wake up, was forced into consciousness by Ren's relentless shaking.
"Brother… didn't you notice?" she said, still sounding slightly groggy. "Your room has beco… much bigger."
"Last night, I set up a soundproof barrier around you so you could rest undisturbed. And as for a simple wooden door… there's no way it could stop ."
"Since it concerns your living space, I naturally couldn't be careless. I personally oversaw the expansion and renovation."
"By the ti everything was finished… I was too tired. So I simply went to sleep here."
Ren paused, then looked around.
And sure enough—
His room was now more than three tis larger than before.
The once simple, minimalist space had been completely transford. New furnishings filled the room, and every single item looked anything but cheap.
"Since you and Kunou both like this place, I had the surrounding area purchased overnight," Yasaka added casually.
"Due to the limited ti, this will have to do for now. Once you leave for work, I'll have them continue further renovations and expansions."
Ren could only stare at her in speechless disbelief.
His original apartnt had been about the size of his old room alone.
And yet in a single night, Yasaka had not only expanded it several tis over, but also redecorated it with absurd luxury—
And she called this "making do."
—
"Good morning, Lord Ren. Good morning, Lady Yasaka. Breakfast is prepared and ready to be served."
When Ren and Yasaka stepped out of the room, the sight that greeted them left Ren completely stunned.
The living room and kitchen were unrecognizable.
A luxurious crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. Plush leather sofas lined the space. Even the tableware had been replaced with exquisite silver sets.
The living room itself was now more than ten tis its original size.
Ren couldn't even recognize this as the place he had been living in.
And standing before them were several maids—with fox ears, cat ears—each one beautiful and impeccably dressed.
Even breakfast had been prepared in multiple varieties, laid out like a lavish buffet.
All of this… in a single night.
Expansion, renovation, land acquisition—
Were Kyoto's yokai seriously this rich?
Back in the world of the Supre Beings, Ren had experienced luxury on this level—or even beyond.
But in a modern setting like this?
This was a first.
Even in his original world, where he was already a leading figure among yokai, his lifestyle had never been this extravagant.
"Brother, there's no need to feel restrained," Yasaka said with a soft smile. "They're quite happy to serve you."
She said it so naturally that Ren nearly choked on the milk he was drinking.
"In fact, if you're interested… they could attend to you tonight as well."
"As the strongest yokai, if any of them were to bear your child, they would be honored. Their status would rise accordingly."
Ren froze mid-sip, his brain short-circuiting.
He had intended to tell Yasaka to stop joking—
But then he noticed sothing horrifying.
The fox-eared and cat-eared maids weren't laughing.
On the contrary… they were looking at him with eager, expectant expressions.
This wasn't a joke.
This was serious.
—
Ren finished breakfast at record speed and practically fled the house.
One Yasaka was already more than enough to handle—
Now there was an entire squad of maids added into the mix.
There was no way any sane man could endure that!
As for why Yasaka insisted on keeping them, she had a perfectly reasonable explanation.
With the upcoming three-faction peace conference, the Kyoto yokai would be participating as both attendees and witnesses. Important figures from various factions would inevitably co to visit.
Hosting them in the previously modest apartnt would be extrely inappropriate—and would bring sha to Kyoto's yokai.
Therefore, expanding the residence and employing attendants was absolutely necessary.
If nothing else—
They needed to maintain appearances.
Otherwise, the three Biblical factions might look down on them.
"In terms of raw strength, Kyoto's yokai may fall slightly behind," Yasaka had said matter-of-factly.
"But when it cos to wealth in the human world… we surpass all three factions combined."
After all, they had lived in the human world for thousands of years, ruling over Kyoto—the most prosperous city.
The wealth they had accumulated over centuries…
Was nothing short of enough to rival entire nations.
