In truth, the peace conference between the three factions had not, as Azazel had claid, included an invitation to the yokai of Kyoto.
It was only after Azazel t Ren Kuroda—that he suddenly decided to invite Kyoto's yokai faction to act as impartial witnesses.
And Azazel was confident that once he proposed the idea, Michael from the angel faction and Sirzechs from the devil faction would have no reason to refuse.
In the past, while the yokai faction wasn't exactly weak, they had never been taken seriously by the three great Biblical powers.
Kyoto's supre commander, Yasaka, was indeed quite powerful—her strength even reaching the level of a Demon King—but she was only one individual.
Whether it was the devils or the angels, both sides possessed multiple Demon Kings or Seraphs. Compared to them, the yokai faction had no choice but to remain confined to a corner of the world.
But no one had expected that Kyoto's yokai would produce soone like Amano-in Ren—soone whose strength was more than enough to disrupt the existing balance.
Not everyone wanted the peace talks between the three factions to succeed. Inviting the yokai faction carried two advantages.
First, it allowed them to gauge the yokai's stance and potentially use them as a balancing force against the three factions.
Second, if chaos were to erupt during the eting, it would provide an additional ally.
After Azazel departed, Rias and Sona were left to deal with the aftermath—an exhausting series of tasks.
First, all the students who had witnessed the battle between Ren and Vali were gathered by the student council, and their mories were erased.
As for the area where Ren and Vali had fought, it was officially declared to have been caused by a teor impact. The entire region was now completely sealed off.
Given their status, handling such matters was hardly difficult for Rias and Sona.
Among the three factions, the devils of the Underworld had been the quickest to adapt, establishing a firm foothold in the human world long ago.
A day after the battle with Vali, Ren's daily routine remained completely undisturbed. He still went to work, still played the role of a doting caretaker.
If anything, ever since encountering Vali, Ren found himself looking forward to what this world had to offer.
The aura Vali had released in his "Juggernaut Drive" form had been that overwhelming—and yet he was only ranked within the top twenty in the world.
So what kind of monsters lurked within the top ten?
After finishing a full day of classes, Ren finally dragged himself out of his usual post-work "corpse mode." He had been about to go pick up Kunou and head ho when a black-haired girl stepped in front of him, blocking his path.
"Sona Sitri? What does the student council president want with ?"
The girl standing before him had shoulder-length black hair, rimless glasses, and a serious expression that gave her an air of sharp intelligence.
Sona Sitri was sothing of a celebrity at Kuoh Academy. Among the female students, however, she ranked only third in popularity—behind Rias and Akeno.
It wasn't that Sona lacked beauty. On the contrary, she was stunning. But her strict, no-nonsense personality—combined with her position as student council president—had earned her more than a few enemies among the student body.
"Ren-sensei, regarding the upcoming three-faction conference, I'd like to discuss sothing with you… and request your assistance."
Ren blinked in surprise at her words, then repeated slowly,
"You're sure you ant to co to … and not Rias? If I rember correctly, Azazel said the preparations for this conference were supposed to be handled by the two of you."
"That's correct. But while Rias is my closest friend, she is also my greatest rival."
Sona t his gaze directly, then suddenly bowed at a full ninety degrees, her attitude utterly sincere.
"And because I'm concerned that unforeseen complications may arise, I've co to ask for your help, Ren-sensei."
Ren scratched his head, still puzzled. He wasn't exactly busy, and truth be told, he was quite curious about this so-called three-faction conference. He was just about to agree—
When Rias arrived, accompanied by Akeno.
"As expected of you, Sona," Rias said with a wry smile. "We ca here the mont classes ended, and yet you still beat us to it."
Her eyes flicked toward Ren.
"But Ren-sensei hasn't agreed to your request yet, has he? Which ans we still have a chance."
"No, Rias," Sona replied calmly, straightening from her bow. A confident, intellectual smile appeared on her face as she looked at her rival.
"If you hadn't interrupted, Ren-sensei would have already agreed to assist the student council. Furthermore, we've prepared a position for him as an advisory teacher—and we're offering triple the salary of a standard faculty mber."
Between the sudden attack by the White Dragon Emperor and their assignnt to oversee preparations for the three-faction conference, both Rias and Sona were under imnse pressure.
That said, being entrusted with organizing such a monuntal event was, in itself, a trendous opportunity.
The peace talks weren't just important—they were historic, even by Underworld standards.
If they succeeded, the two young devils would undoubtedly distinguish themselves among their peers and rise to prominence.
However, the sheer importance of the task—and their lack of experience—left them with little choice but to consult their families.
Surprisingly, both the Gremory and Sitri households arrived at the exact sa conclusion:
Recruit the powerful half-yokai known as Ren Kuroda.
Neither family could directly assist Rias or Sona. Their influence in the Underworld was simply too great—any overt involvent would risk provoking dissatisfaction from both the fallen angel and angel factions.
That was precisely why Azazel had chosen relatively inexperienced devils like Rias and Sona in the first place.
Ren, on the other hand, was imnsely powerful and held a high position within the yokai faction.
More importantly, he had a good relationship with both Rias and Sona at Kuoh Academy, making him an ideal candidate for recruitnt.
Though the Gremory and Sitri families didn't know Ren personally, the information relayed by Rias and Sona painted a clear picture.
He had shown no interest in the Boosted Gear, despite its imnse power. And while he was clearly a battle enthusiast, he possessed a firm moral code, choosing not to run wild in the human world.
All of this suggested that his character and integrity were beyond reproach.
Winning Ren over would an strengthening ties with Kyoto's yokai. And with soone of his caliber providing protection, Rias and Sona's activities in the human world would beco far safer.
That was why both of them had shown up here today.
Rias crossed her arms, her expression turning slightly smug.
"That's ridiculous. Since when does the student council have a 'teacher advisor' position?"
She stepped forward, placing a hand lightly on Ren's arm.
"I'm here to invite Ren-sensei to beco the advisor of our Occult Research Club."
Her smile widened, eyes gleaming with confidence.
"As for compensation—offering just triple the salary is almost embarrassing. We'll pay ten tis that."
