Micah sat in the back of a black car, feeling conflicted. His fingers twitched toward the door, itching to swing it open and run for his life. Yet, he knew escape was impossible. First, what if the back door was locked? Wouldn’t that be such an awkward mont? Showing Aidan he wanted to flee? The result would be Aidan’s growing suspicion toward him. Then, assuming the door was unlocked, could he outrun Aidan, a healthy robust man, with his bruised beaten body?

Nope. He wasn’t narcissistic enough to think he was better than anyone or foolish enough to gamble on sothing this uncertain.

And what would happen when Aidan caught him?

Micah shivered, recalling the novel.

Aidan was the type who thrived on the ecstasy of hunting his prey. Wasn’t Darcy, the pitiful protagonist, the subject of his cruel pursuit?

anwhile, Aidan popped a hand lazily under his chin, sitting on the passenger seat, looking relaxed, yet, his gaze never left the side mirror as it reflected the girl’s figure seated in the back. He could see her hand on the door, twitching, struggling with what choice she should make. He found the situation amusing.

Finally, the door opened and Alex returned with a small bag in his hand. He extended it toward Micah without a word.

Micah reached out, fingers brushing against the new phone’s box.

"Go on," Aidan said smoothly. "Log in to your WeChat and text him. I want to see it."

Micah stared at him, hesitant.

The corner of Aidan’s lips stretched upward, turning into a smirk so dangerous that a shiver ran down Micah’s back. His eyes dared him to defy him.

Micah sighed, feeling defeated. He unwrapped the box, switched on the phone and logged into the SugerPlumFairy account. Fortunately, he had added his main account, as a friend to this one.

Aidan craned his neck to the back seat, looking at the screen with an intense gaze.

"You two never talked on WeChat?" he asked.

"No, I deleted it after sending you the money." Micah lied without batting an eye.

Aidan’s gaze locked on the glowing letters on the screen. That userna... it was really him. RogueOverlord.

Micah’s fingers hovered over the smooth, unfamiliar screen, thinking how ridiculous all this was. Who would text their own alt account?

Yet, under Aidan’s intense gaze, he forced his fingers to move, typing the letters.

SugerPlumFairyisLeo’sWife: Hey, do you have ti to speak? I need your help.

The words stared back at him, almost mocking. Micah swallowed, tilting the phone toward Aidan. "Is it good?"

Aidan leaned forward from the passenger seat, shadows stretching across his face as the car drifted under the overpass. His gaze flicked over the screen, then back at Micah. He nodded with a smirk. "What’s with the userna?" he asked, chuckling low in his throat. "Who is Leo? Are you married? Aren’t you too young for that?"

Micah tried hard to maintain his expression. The pure mockery in Aidan’s eyes was getting on his nerves.

"No. He is a star." Micah said through gritted teeth.

"Leo?" Aidan tilted his head with exaggerated disbelief. "Have we had soone like him?"

Before Micah could explain, Aidan’s hand shot out and snatched the phone, his long fingers curling around it lazily. Aidan tapped quickly, scanning through the WeChat interface. His thumb paused over a group nad The Majestic King. He raised a brow, lips curling. He tapped on it, noticing it was filled with fans gushing over a celebrity.

Aidan swiped through, his eyes narrowing as he skimd other chats, a handful of shallow conversations, mostly related to that star.

Then he landed on a chat labelled SunshineSparkle. He raised an eyebrow as he skimd the content.

"Really? You have a powerful family? Isn’t it just a sugar daddy? Using his power to stan so actor? Tsk." Aidan snickered, tossing the phone back with careless disdain.

Micah’s face flushed. Not from embarrassnt, but from raw anger. This scum thought everyone was like him, a scum, changing partners like used napkins, getting close to others just for gain... he was such a pathetic man, so empty. Yet he had the audacity to assu everyone else was like him.

The arrogance made Micah want to spit on his scum face, condemning him. Unfortunately, he had to do it another ti.

"Where are you taking ?" he said instead. "You know it’s against my will. It’s kidnapping. Do you want to end up in jail?"

Aidan barked a laugh, so loud it made the driver, Alex Ford, flinch subtly. "Fuck! That’s funny." Aidan slapped the console with his palm, leaning back in his seat with glee. "Who would buy that story? Are you living in La La Land? In the real world, money and power, buy you exemptions. What law? It’s just a bunch of fancy, eloquentwords to trap low-life junkies."

Micah stared at him, lips pressed flat, his eyes narrowing as if studying a new specin. The look was filled with contempt, the way you look at sothing you consider ntally broken.

But Aidan didn’t notice.

"Why isn’t he answering?" Aidan snapped. His tone was doused with impatience as he looked at the screen again. Then with a frustrated exhale, he shoved it back into Micah’s hand.

"I told you. We are not close." Micah mumbled, eye downcast.

Aidan’s finger began tapping on the dashboard, deep in thought. His eyes narrowed, darting from the windshield to the girl in the back seat.

Even if the young man didn’t reply, Aidan mused darkly, it wouldn’t matter. He had seen enough. The sa userna. And her account was not blocked. This girl had a way to contact him. His lips curved.

Of course, he knew the girl was guarded against him, a strange man appearing out of the blue. He could use force, but he needed her assistance for his future plan. If he played his card well, he could extract information from her, especially about La Riviere’s president. Even using her as a chess piece. Yes. Gaining her trust was more beneficial to him.
