His ears were filled with the sharp cries, the wailing, and the tragic deaths. It was as if he had returned to his desolate, corrupted world, where only the strong survived, and the stench of death perated every street and alley.

There was a ti when Sian had encountered the Silent Killer. As his na suggested, the man murdered without dirtying his hands. He didn’t even need to wield a weapon—just a touch on bare skin, and within monts, his victim would die without a trace.

That was his terrifying power, one that drained the very essence of life from his victims, leaving behind nothing but an empty shell.

Just a hollow, lifeless husk...

Sian despised that kind of power, and he despised its owner even more. The man had slaughtered thousands for his own twisted enjoynt, taking pleasure in absorbing the life force of others.

Sian had faced many powerful foes in his life, but that man had been the worst—not only in terms of personality but also because of his terrifying ability. Even if his heart were torn from his chest, he would continue to live. He was like a vampire but without the weaknesses. Or fear of the sun.

Sian and his team had suffered devastating losses in the long, bloody battle against him. They had endured countless hardships before finally managing to put an end to that monster once and for all.

But...

"How the hell is he here?! And how can his power work in this world?! Impossible... Impossible! This world can’t beco like the one I ca from... It can’t... It just... No...!"

Sian was muttering to himself, his voice growing louder and more frantic, his words spilling out like a madman’s.

Of course, anyone would lose their sanity if, after barely escaping hell, they were forced to relive it all over again in what was supposed to be their new life.

Sian burned with rage, hatred, and sheer unwillingness.

Unwilling to suffer again.

Unwilling to live that way again.

Unwilling to see that world again.

Utterly unwilling.

"Sian, Sian, stop! You’re just... You’re just denying it. Everything will be fine. You’re safe now. Please, stop hurting yourself."

Lan Qisheng held the trembling teenager tightly in his arms, his hands wrapped around Sian’s bloodied wrists. At so point, Sian’s body had started to shake violently, and he had begun muttering incoherent things. Then, his hands had moved to his own throat, scratching at it with desperate force, as if trying to tear it open.

Sian’s crimson eyes were dazzlingly beautiful—but neither of the two n had the mind to appreciate their beauty. His hysteria, his self-harm, terrified them.

"Calm down, Sian. I’m here. Nothing’s going to happen. You’re safe. You’re safe..." Lan Qisheng’s voice was filled with love, gentleness, and pleading desperation as he tried to soothe the boy in his arms. Finally, Sian’s trembling began to subside.

Sweat dripped from Sian’s face and forehead. His lips were a pale shade of blue, and the amber in his eyes was now edged with blood-red veins.

But at last, he had co back to his senses. The shaking stopped, and he no longer tried to break free from Lan Qisheng’s firm grip. Instead, he moved closer.

Maybe it was just his imagination, but the faint scent of the man in front of him was oddly soothing. Without much thought, Sian leaned toward the source of that scent, feeling safer as it surrounded him completely.

When Lan Qisheng felt Sian stop resisting, he knew the teen had returned to himself. He let go of his hands, intending to lift Sian’s face to check on him. But before he could, Sian suddenly moved—his hands wrapped tightly around Lan Qisheng’s neck, and he buried his face into the man’s shoulder.

Not only that, but Sian had wrapped his legs around Lan Qisheng’s waist. The man had been kneeling between Sian’s legs while holding him, and now, all four of Sian’s limbs were clinging tightly to his strong, sturdy fra. Sian tightened his grip as if trying to rge himself into Lan Qisheng’s very being.

Lan Qisheng was all too familiar with the changes in Sian’s ntal state. He knew the boy felt insecure and afraid. He had seen Sian’s panic attacks before. Many tis, he had woken up in the middle of the night to find Sian trembling in fear as if waking from a nightmare, desperately clinging to him as if trying to hide. And yet, once he cald down, Sian always acted as if nothing had happened.

Lan Qisheng knew Sian was haunted by painful mories. He had heard him call out for his mother, his sister, his brother... But when he tried to ask, Sian never gave him an answer. And so, he had no choice but to pretend he was blind—to act like he knew nothing. That had been his way of respecting his lover’s wishes and supporting him.

But now... Lan Qisheng regretted it.

Maybe he should have taken Sian to a therapist. Maybe he should have tried harder to understand what was tornting him so much that he would have panic attacks so severe he could barely breathe.

Jiao Liangchen was terrified as he watched Sian in this state. For so reason, he regretted asking the boy anything. He felt as if he was the reason Sian had ended up like this.

His dark eyes filled with pain and fear. He was afraid for Sian. Jiao Liangchen wasn’t stupid—he knew that the teen had suffered a panic attack. And it had happened right after he asked about the mysterious deaths of their teammates. That ant Sian had likely witnessed sothing... or maybe, just maybe, he had faced the murderer responsible for it.

Well... Jiao Liangchen’s sharp instincts were truly sothing else. In less than a minute, he had already deduced the truth.

"Is he okay?" he finally asked, his voice full of concern as he noticed how still Sian had beco, clinging to Lan Qisheng without moving.

"He’s fine now. He just needs to rest for a while. We’ll talk about this later."

After saying that, Lan Qisheng stood up, holding onto the "koala" wrapped around him. He placed one hand on Sian’s back and the other under his thighs, lifting him as if carrying a child, then headed toward the villa to take him to his room.

Of course, he had Jiao Liangchen clear the way first. The last thing he wanted was for them to be photographed and for his lover to end up on tomorrow’s headlines, surrounded by wild speculations.

Lan Qisheng wanted the world to know that Sian was his. But he respected his lover’s wishes. Sian had said the ti wasn’t right—so Lan Qisheng would wait. He would do exactly as Sian wanted.
