Sian’s body collapsed silently into He Jinyun’s arms.

Kira was still screaming in terror, calling out to him desperately.

"Captain! Captain, wake up... please don’t leave again... Boss..."

"Kira, calm down. He’s fine. He only exhausted his powers. He’s just asleep."

He Jinyun could no longer bear listening to Kira’s cries.

But he could see the fear and horror trembling in her eyes.

He had died before them and disappeared from their lives for a long ti. Because of that, he had no idea what Sian and the others had endured afterward in that world.

Still, this was not the ti to dwell on the past.

Right now, they had a present they cherished... and a future still resting in their hands.

"Let’s take him sowhere safe first. We’ll talk after he wakes up."

Kira nodded vigorously.

Then she stood beside He Jinyun as he lifted Sian effortlessly into his arms.

"Stop right there!"

Lan Qishing shouted as he rushed toward them.

"Where are you taking him? You can’t just leave with him! Give him to —we’re taking him to the military hospital."

As he spoke, he reached out to take the unconscious Sian—

But a golden bolt of lightning exploded across the sky with violent force.

Lan Qishing froze, looking at He Jinyun angrily.

"What exactly do you an by this, He Jinyun?"

"Heh... what do I an?" He Jinyun laughed softly. "Isn’t it obvious? You’re not touching him."

His golden eyes glowed with a mysterious and threatening light.

"Do you really think I’d leave Gege unconscious in your hands? Impossible."

"Why not? We’re on the sa side. He’s humanity’s savior. Of course, he’ll be treated properly."

He Jinyun let out a mocking laugh.

"Treated properly? Savior?" His voice dripped with ridicule. "We’ve heard those sa words before. Endless praise. Endless gratitude. And in the end, those sa people imprisoned us and experinted on us day after day after day..."

His smile vanished.

"I won’t be fooled again."

He Jinyun’s gaze swept toward Lan Qishing’s n, who were aiming their weapons at him with fearful expressions.

"My captain may be far too soft-hearted..." he said quietly. "He keeps insisting he’s cruel, but his heart is more fragile than paper."

A cold smile appeared on his lips.

"I’m different."

The mont his voice fell, lightning crashed down violently upon everyone who dared raise a weapon toward him.

The attack didn’t kill them—

But the soldiers collapsed to their knees instantly, their bodies convulsing in pain.

"He Jinyun... stop!"

"Lan Qishing, I’ve been tolerating you because of Sian. Because he would be sad if I killed innocent people..."

His gaze sharpened into sothing terrifyingly cold.

"But don’t test the limits of my patience."

Lan Qishing knew imdiately that He Jinyun was not joking.

He knew better than anyone that the man who acted obedient and spoiled in front of Sian hid a heart colder than stone beneath that gentle mask... along with a soul drowning in darkness.

The only person capable of controlling this man was currently unconscious.

But—

No.

No matter what, he would never allow them to take Sian away from him.

From the very beginning, Lan Qishing had always felt inferior compared to Sian, who ca from another world.

Compared to Sian’s comrades—the people who had fought beside him through countless battles, through suffering and survival alike—

Compared to their strength... compared to the deep trust between them...

Lan Qishing constantly felt inadequate.

Unworthy of standing beside Sian.

But even so...

He had never once thought of leaving him.

He couldn’t leave him.

His gaze shifted toward the delicate girl standing nearby, her beautiful face and clothes drenched in blood.

"Kira... say sothing."

Kira had remained silent beside He Jinyun from beginning to end.

Lan Qishing did not want this confrontation to escalate. In truth, even with a hundred more soldiers, he knew they would never win against He Jinyun.

So he hoped Kira would diate.

But her answer stunned him completely.

"We’re going with He Jinyun. When Captain wakes up... if he wants to co back, then he’ll co back."

Lan Qishing’s eyes widened.

Why?

Why were these people acting like this?

What Lan Qishing didn’t know... was that they had all gone through sothing eerily similar in the past.

Back then, Sian had used every ounce of his power to save everyone.

And he succeeded.

But after exhausting himself completely, he fell into a coma and remained asleep for a very long ti.

Who could have imagined that the very people he saved with everything he had... would betray them?

They drugged them.

Then handed over to their enemies, where they were tortured and subjected to endless cruel experints.

From that mont onward, everyone in Sian’s team learned a brutal lesson:

Kindness only invited disaster.

If you wanted to survive, then you had to beco even more ruthless than your enemies.

They could not trust outsiders.

Not even Lan Qishing—the so-called lover of their captain’s brother.

He Jinyun trusted him even less.

Besides, He Jinyun had his own information network. Before arriving here, he had already learned what happened to the little boy Sian once saved.

The governnt had promised to protect the child and treat him well.

And what was the result?

They treated the boy like a dangerous criminal and peeled apart his flesh in the na of research.

Humans...

They never changed.

No matter how different the worlds beca.

How ridiculous.

He Jinyun’s eyes darkened further at the mory.

It was a good thing the captain was unconscious.

If Sian had been awake, he probably would have softened again after hearing a few sweet words from these people.

But now—

He Jinyun had already sent trusted subordinates to retrieve the little boy.

And after taking Sian and Kira away, they would disappear sowhere far beyond the reach of these scum.

...

Inside the eting base, everyone had been celebrating their victory proudly—

Until they witnessed the scene unfolding before them.

"No! We can’t let them escape! Hurry and stop them! We must keep them under our control!"

A white-haired man shouted anxiously.

Another imdiately agreed.

"Sian’s power is extraordinary, and that girl Kira is remarkable too. Even that mysterious man who appeared—we need them working for humanity. It’s their duty! How can they just leave? Those ungrateful bastards!"

"Minister! Hurry and order your forces to surround them! They’re at their weakest right now. If people with supernatural abilities from your squad block their escape, we can still succeed!"

Everyone turned toward Wei Ling with burning anticipation in their eyes.

Wei Ling let out a long, exhausted sigh before murmuring:

"Now I finally understand why Sian refused to help humanity before..."

His gaze darkened faintly.

"Humans really are..."

He never finished the sentence.

But no one cared enough to ask.

Because on the massive screen before them, He Jinyun suddenly moved.

Holding Sian in his arms with Kira beside him, he boarded the helicopter that had just landed.

Monts later, it disappeared into the night sky—

Just as the first rays of dawn began to rise over the horizon.
