Chapter 825: Chapter 825 Sweet-Talking_1
Purple Sumrs flipped through the photos, her lips curling into a smile, finding the little girl rather amusing.
Autumn Carter leaned in, “How is it? Any key evidence? As long as you let be your assistant, I’ll keep providing you with endless information!”
Purple Sumrs looked up and asked with a smile, “How old are you?”
“Twelve!” Autumn Carter replied.
“How long did it take you to collect these photos?” Purple Sumrs asked.
Autumn Carter said proudly, “I started collecting them when I was eight!”
...
Purple Sumrs couldn’t help but chuckle, “You started collecting evidence at eight, and it’s only been two years since your dad went to prison, and you claim to be twelve?”
Autumn Carter’s face turned red, and she retorted, “I was speaking in terms of my nominal age!”
“That’s still not right,” Purple Sumrs laughed, “A nominal age only adds one year.”
“In a few months I’ll be eleven! If you round it up, that makes twelve, right?” the little girl said, embarrassed.
Purple Sumrs shook her head, still smiling, “To be my assistant, you can’t count your nominal age, nor can you round up. The first principle of an investigation is accuracy.”
Autumn Carter bit her lip, her head drooping in dejection, “Okay, I’m ten this year…”
Caitlin Carter couldn’t do anything with her niece and said helplessly with a smile, “Autumn, why do you insist on adding two years?”
Autumn Carter muttered quietly, “Those over twelve are adolescents, those below are children, and it’s a society that discriminates against children right now.”
Purple Sumrs and Caitlin Carter laughed together.
The little girl’s expression beca even more grievous as though her silence was an indictnt: See, you all look down on .
“Don’t worry, I don’t discriminate against you,” Purple Sumrs said with a laugh.
…
In the evening, Autumn Carter stayed for dinner, and with a child at the table, the atmosphere imdiately changed.
Little Autumn was cute, and her personality was as lively as a boy’s, not at all shy or timid. One mont she would say this dish tastes good, the next that one does, and she kept praising the food at the Presidential Palace.
Old Master Simonson and the old lady watched her eat with gusto, and found themselves with better appetites, unconsciously eating more than usual.
The old lady smiled and cautioned, “Eat slowly, no one is fighting you for the food. Are you still hungry from lunch, or what?”
Autumn Carter patted her stomach, craning her neck to look at the table, “Are there any more of those golden shrimp left?”
“Mrs. Ho, do we have any more fried shrimp?” the old lady asked the servant beside her.
The servant wasn’t sure and went to ask in the kitchen.
Caitlin Carter said, “If there aren’t any, it’s fine. Eating too much at night isn’t good for digestion…”
The old lady imdiately glared, “She’s a growing child, it’s the ti for her body to grow, she should eat more. Look at Autumn, her arms don’t even have any flesh. Don’t listen to your aunt, just eat to your heart’s content until you are full.”
“Grandma, you’re so kind! You really are like my own grandmother!” Autumn Carter exaggeratedly fawned over the old lady.
The old lady couldn’t stop smiling, “Oh dear, I wouldn’t dare compare to your real grandma. Your real grandma loves you a lot!”
Old Master Simonson also kept laughing, “Autumn, your words are so sweet today. What you’re eating isn’t shrimp, it’s honey, right?”
“Because I’m in a good mood today!” Autumn Carter said cheerily, “Sister Purple Sumrs agreed to revisit my dad’s case, and soon I’ll be her number one assistant! Just like Sherlock Hols and Watson!”
The smile on the old lady’s face froze in an instant.
“Oh? Is that so?” Old Master Simonson turned to Purple Sumrs, “Reinvestigating Autumn’s father’s case, what are the chances?”
Kids are always very sensitive, fearing Old Master Simonson might disagree, Autumn quickly interjected, “Grandpa, if we make an effort to investigate, there’s still a glimr of hope! If we don’t look into it, then there’s no hope at all!”
Purple Sumrs said with a smile, “Autumn has ford a detective club at school and asked to be the off-campus activity advisor. Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious.”
With that said, it was probably just child’s play.
