Chapter 824: Chapter 824: Top Secret Files_1

Purple Sumrs leaned back in a wicker chair on the balcony, reading a book, when she heard a knock at the door.

She glanced down at the ti; it wasn’t even close to alti.

This was rather unusual, as the servants only knocked on her door at alti. As for the other mbers of the Simonson family, they all kept their distance from her. The only person who might co to see her was Caitlin Carter, but they had just visited Christopher Simonson at the hospital yesterday, and Purple couldn’t think of any reason why Caitlin would co to see her now.

Upon opening the door, it was indeed Caitlin Carter, followed by a little girl.

“Are you Purple Sumrs?” Before Caitlin could introduce her, the little girl burst out, “You’re going to help my dad overturn his conviction, right? Can I be your assistant? I’m very sincere, and I have lots of helpers! Together we would definitely be invincible!”

The little girl’s voice echoed down the corridor, clear and bright.

...

Caitlin looked embarrassed and pulled Autumn Carter back to her side, explaining, “This is my niece… She’s very concerned about her father’s case. She heard that I was looking for a lawyer and has been eager to et you.”

Purple suddenly understood; ever since Alexander Sumrs had gotten into trouble, she had completely forgotten about the case, and Caitlin hadn’t brought it up since then, either.

It seed that there indeed was limited space in one’s heart. With a husband seriously ill, one couldn’t spare the energy to fight for a younger brother’s case; uncertain about a loved one’s life or death, she too had no mind to consider anything else.

Purple’s gaze fell on the little girl in front of her and moved aside, saying, “Co in.”

Autumn Carter followed Caitlin into the room, looking around with curiosity, “You live here? It seems so ordinary.”

Caitlin’s face turned red, “Autumn! Don’t be rude!”

The little girl defended herself, “I’m not being rude. This room really is very ordinary, there’s no hat, pipe, or magnifying glass.”

Purple couldn’t help but laugh; was she being mistaken for a detective?

“I don’t need those things,” Purple said as she took sothing out of the drawer and gently placed it on the table, “This is all I need.”

It was a pistol with a tallic sheen.

“Cool!” Autumn’s eyes lit up, and her look at Purple was imdiately filled with boundless admiration and envy.

Caitlin took a sharp breath. She hadn’t realized that Purple would carry sothing like that with her.

As her little niece joyfully handled the gun, Caitlin’s face turned pale with fright.

“It’s okay, there are no bullets in it,” Purple explained with a smile.

Caitlin finally relaxed.

As they began to talk about the case, Purple didn’t hold back and told Caitlin straight, “The chances of overturning the case are very slim, especially since your younger brother cannot provide an alibi. Unless we find key evidence, even if we appeal again, the original verdict is likely to stand.”

Autumn listened with keen interest and interrupted, “What kind of evidence counts as key evidence?”

“Autumn,” Caitlin showed a asure of sternness, “When adults are speaking, children should not…”

“It’s fine,” Purple didn’t mind, looking towards Autumn, “The key evidence we need could be sothing that proves your dad wasn’t at the scene when the incident occurred, or sothing that proves the victim was hard by soone else.”

Upon hearing this, Autumn imdiately took out a thick file from her bag, saying earnestly, “I have a lot of evidence. Take a look, is there anything here that can be considered as key evidence?”

The file was opened to reveal a thick stack of printed photos, including landscape and portrait photos. At first glance, it wasn’t apparent how they were related to the case.

Caitlin was shocked, “Autumn, where did you get these photos?!”

Autumn lifted her head proudly, “I already said they’re top secret files; the source is obviously confidential. Auntie, don’t ask any more questions.”
