Chapter 746: Chapter 746: Use Your Cunning Well_1
Yolanda Sumrs had already roughly learned about the situation from Laura Sumrs.
With a pale face, she rushed downstairs. Upon seeing Mrs. Fowler, she quickly began to explain, “Mrs. Fowler, is there perhaps a misunderstanding? While it’s true that Sheldon Fowler and I have broken up, I haven’t sought him out since. I’ve been a bit sick with a cold these past few days and feared infecting the guests, so I didn’t co downstairs today…”
Laura Sumrs also chid in, “Exactly, how could my sister possibly elope with soone? Sheldon Fowler did call her a few tis inviting her out, but she rejected him every ti.”
“Impossible!” Mrs. Fowler stared at Yolanda Sumrs with a grim expression, speaking with conviction, “My son wouldn’t lie to ! He told himself that you called him, asking him to et up!”
Yolanda Sumrs took out her mobile phone to show Mrs. Fowler, “Mrs. Fowler, I really haven’t called Sheldon Fowler recently!”
However, Mrs. Fowler did not even look, “Call logs can be deleted! Miss Sumrs, just be honest, where exactly did you coax my Kai Kai off to?!”
Dylan Sumrs’s gaze fell between the two, containing repressed anger. His hands balled into fists, and he was filled with confusion, unable to discern who was telling the truth.
If it was Yolanda Sumrs lying, luring another family’s young master to elope, Dylan Sumrs would certainly teach her a severe lesson!
If it was Mrs. Fowler lying, Dylan Sumrs must quickly think of the most dignified way to resolve the issue.
…But why would Mrs. Fowler lie? What were her motives and reasons?
Mrs. Fowler had no need to trouble a twenty-year-old girl.
The scales in Dylan Sumrs’s heart involuntarily tipped towards Mrs. Fowler, believing that it was most likely Yolanda Sumrs who was up to mischief. He knew his daughter, and she was indeed a bit crafty.
Used well, cunningness is cleverness; used poorly, it becos despicable.
Dylan Sumrs’s anger burned fiercely, almost convinced of Yolanda Sumrs’s guilt!
How could Yolanda Sumrs not perceive the anger and resentnt in her father’s eyes? She felt extrely desolate, her heart undisturbed, as if such an outco was expected all along.
She knew all too well what kind of man her father was!
Just as Yolanda Sumrs attempted to explain once more, a phone rang—
It wasn’t Yolanda Sumrs’s phone, but Mrs. Fowler’s.
She answered the call with furrowed brows, and because the banquet hall was very quiet at that mont, the shouting on the other end ca through exceptionally clear: “Mom! Co save ! Hurry, save ! I’ve been kidnapped!”
Sheldon Fowler’s voice stopped abruptly, followed by the kidnapper’s voice: “Have 1.5 million ready within three days! No police, or else be prepared to collect your son’s corpse!”
The call was forcibly hung up by the other party.
Mrs. Fowler’s complexion had turned utterly pale!
She stood there rooted to the spot, frozen!
Guests nearby showed shock on their faces, looking at each other in disbelief, while those further away, having not heard clearly, were confused.
“What’s going on?”
“…Seems like the kidnappers made the call?”
“Is this so kind of prank?”
“It sounded real…”
Sheldon Fowler’s aunt suddenly broke down, wailing, “My Kai Kai!—”
The Fowler won were all thrown into disarray!
“Is this your doing?!” Mrs. Fowler snapped back to reality, glaring at Yolanda Sumrs with venom, “You hold a grudge over what happened last ti, so you took the opportunity for revenge! You have such a vicious heart!!!”
Yolanda Sumrs’s face showed panic, but she cald down inside, feeling that things were unfolding just as Purple Sumrs had predicted.
Sheldon Fowler needed money urgently, and even if Yolanda Sumrs didn’t take the bait, even if the kidnappers lost contact, Sheldon Fowler wouldn’t simply abandon his plan!
Tears nearly breaking, Yolanda Sumrs defended herself, “Mrs. Fowler! I know you introduced Ms. Jones to Sheldon Fowler, and I stepped back voluntarily after that! Sheldon Fowler and I have broken up, what more do you want from ? Why are you framing for sothing as serious as kidnapping?!”
