Chapter 745: Chapter 745: Elopent_1
The woman was in her fifties, dressed in a style that awkwardly straddled the line between vintage and outdated, but one could still see from the fabric that it was exquisitely luxurious.
So guests recognized her and exclaid in surprise, “Mrs. Fowler? What brings you here?”
Mrs. Fowler took a clear look at the scene in the banquet hall and was also startled.
Wasn’t it said that the Sumrs Family was on the decline? Why does it look so grand?
Upon further thought, she realized that even if the banquet were ten tis more luxurious, the Fowler Family could afford it. Perhaps the Sumrs Family was just putting on a show to seem more prosperous!
She said indignantly, “My son is missing! Of course, I have to co and ask Yolanda Sumrs about it!”
The crowd was taken aback.
Among the guests, Dylan Sumrs ca over with a dark expression and said sternly, “Mrs. Fowler, if your son is missing, you should be looking for the police, not my daughter.”
Mrs. Fowler retorted angrily, “Because your daughter ran off with my son! They were supposed to have broken up and not et each other! But my son, being too soft-hearted, went out to et your daughter the day before yesterday, and he hasn’t co back since!”
A shorter woman beside Mrs. Fowler said, “Your daughter has been calling my son Sheldon every day, harassing him. Sheldon didn’t want to bother with her, but she kept crying and begging, and even said she was pregnant, who knows whose bastard she’s carrying! She just wants to pin it on my Sheldon! And now, look, they’ve both disappeared!”
The won surrounding Mrs. Fowler began to denounce, “Our Fowler Family has only Sheldon as our sole scion. If anything were to happen to him, can your family bear that responsibility?!”
It looked like they were all Sheldon Fowler’s aunts and the like.
The guests in the banquet hall looked at each other.
“Co to think of it, I haven’t seen Miss Yolanda Sumrs today either… Did they… Did they elope?”
Soone said this.
“Nonsense!” Dylan Sumrs said, his face flushing with anger, “My daughter would never elope with anyone!”
He turned and shouted at Laura Sumrs, “Call your sister down to !”
Laura Sumrs shuddered with fear and hurried upstairs in a panic.
Mrs. Fowler defiantly pulled up a chair and sat down, looking ready to accuse and bla.
The music stopped, all eyes were on them, and the atmosphere of the banquet vanished, utterly destroyed by the Fowler won.
So guests who couldn’t stand it spoke up, “Mrs. Fowler, if you want to find Miss Yolanda Sumrs, you could send a ssage first. Isn’t it very impolite to co uninvited like this? Besides, today is Purple Sumrs’s reception, and this commotion is really unfair to her.”
Mrs. Fowler was furious, thinking to herself: My son is missing! Can I afford to care about these niceties?!
As she was about to retort, she turned her head and realized that the person was none other than the governor’s secretary!
Not only was Secretary Wiggins there, but Camilla Farrell, who always seed too proud to pay any mind to others, was standing beside him, looking at Mrs. Fowler with a strong disapproval in her eyes.
Mrs. Fowler’s heart skipped a beat, and glancing at the other guests from the corner of her eye, she noticed many familiar faces!
These were all high-status socialites, who were usually hard to invite to ordinary banquets. Why would they co to such a small academic celebration? Just because soone got into a good school? To think they would invite these people?
The Fowler Family had money, and they could afford a banquet of unparalleled luxury and grandeur, but to invite guests like these was extrely difficult…
Mrs. Fowler felt incredulous, a mix of shock and envy, thinking: Even the disreputable second young master from the Graves Family is here…
If Yolanda Sumrs had not broken up with Sheldon Fowler, perhaps all these connections could have been developed into the Fowler Family’s network.
At the thought, Mrs. Fowler felt a sting in her chest, as if she had missed out on a great fortune!
At that mont, two lovely young girls ca down the stairs side by side, none other than the sisters Yolanda and Laura Sumrs.
