Chapter 731: Chapter 731: Impressive_1
“How is this anything to brag about?” Alexander Sumrs couldn’t help but laugh. “Going to all that trouble to hook up with n, doesn’t it tire you out? Nobody’s as amazing as you are.”
Purple Sumrs felt flattered and was in a good mood, “How am I amazing?”
“You didn’t even say a word and yet you snagged .” Alexander Sumrs fed her a piece of the fish cake that had been drying for a while, “Now, tell if that isn’t impressive?”
Purple Sumrs wanted to roll her eyes after hearing this; she had thought Alexander was about to praise her for her impressive detective skills.
“You’re also amazing at solving cases,” Alexander added, as if he could read her mind.
Only then did Purple Sumrs smile, showing off her neat rows of pearly white teeth as she bit into the fish cake, revealing the golden beans inside, “Mmm, so sweet!… You should have so too.”
They took turns eating, and soon the palm-sized fish cake was all gone.
On the way back, Purple Sumrs suddenly said to Alexander, “If Mrs. Carter cos to again, I’m thinking of taking on the case of her younger brother.”
Alexander Sumrs, who was driving, glanced at her and asked, “Why, are you worried she holds a grudge against you? So, you want to do her a favor?”
Since redith Richards was Christopher Simonson’s first love, it made sense that Caitlin Carter might hold a grudge against Purple Sumrs, considering Purple Sumrs her romantic rival’s daughter.
“Why would I be worried about that?” Purple Sumrs chuckled, “I just feel there are uncertainties in that case. Her brother was sentenced to twenty years; by the ti he’s released, he’ll be a man in his fifties, a little old man, and the best years of his life will have been wasted. If he really was wrongly accused, that’d be too tragic.”
Purple Sumrs had no emotional connection to the Simonson Family, and she had only t Caitlin Carter once, with no obligation to help. However, having worked as a prosecutor in her past life, she would get professionally restless whenever she found flaws in a case and felt compelled to get to the bottom of it.
Maybe after all the digging, it would turn out that Caitlin Carter’s younger brother was indeed the perpetrator, making the effort all for nothing.
But if she didn’t look into it, Purple Sumrs would feel incessantly troubled and uneasy.
Alexander naturally understood her small quirks and laughed helplessly, ruffling her hair, “Let’s worry about it during the winter break. He’s in jail anyway, and a few more days won’t make a difference.”
“I’m not in a rush,” Purple Sumrs said with a smile. “After what happened, it’s a bit awkward, and Mrs. Carter might look for another lawyer.”
Purple Sumrs thought she might touch base with Allen Rivera, whose access to the prosecutor’s internal network would make searching for case files much more convenient…
After taking Purple Sumrs ho, Alexander went to the hospital.
Damian Howard’s sudden awakening was a sensitive matter for the Howard Family; people who forrly remained passive were beginning to show signs of restlessness, and Alexander would surely be quite busy these coming days.
When Monday ca, Purple Sumrs went to school and shared the news of the upcoming banquet with Zara Jason and Jane McCain, planning to invite classmates and teachers they were close with.
Zara Jason couldn’t help but express her admiration for Purple Sumrs, “I’m really envious of you.”
Purple Sumrs laughed, “What’s there to envy, your future university might be even better!”
Zara Jason shook her head, a touch of emotion in her voice, “I envy that you know which path you should take, while I’m still fumbling around, clueless about what the future holds.”
Their high school days were coming to an end, but as to which university to attend and how to plan for their future, Zara Jason was still at a loss.
“You’re going to the Judicial Training Institute, Jane wants to study fashion design abroad; you both have your plans,” Zara Jason sighed.
Purple Sumrs and Jane McCain exchanged glances and asked her, “Do your parents have any suggestions for you?”
“My mom wants to apply for a literature major, my dad wants to apply for a language major, and my brother says to go for whatever I like,” Zara Jason laughed self-deprecatingly. “But I don’t know what I like.”
