Jade Carlson’s expression froze, her eyes stared blankly at Purple Sumrs, lost in stupefaction.
She couldn’t comprehend why, at such a critical mont, Purple Sumrs was not concerned about her own background but instead inquired about the cause of Suzanne Saunders’ death?
Why?
“Suzanne Saunders… didn’t she, didn’t she accidentally fall into the river…” Jade responded blankly.
“Is that so.” Purple Sumrs lowered her eyelids, her thick lashes masking the waves of emotion, and said indifferently, “Then, I suppose there is no need for us to continue this conversation.”
She stood up to leave.
Jade Carlson panicked, “Wait, wait! … Purple Sumrs, what exactly do you want to know? Suzanne Saunders did indeed die from falling into the river!”
Purple Sumrs stopped in her tracks, turned around and looked at Jade Carlson, her gaze serene and cold, “Still not willing to tell ? What did you put in Suzanne Saunders’ drink that I need to remind you of right now?”
Jade Carlson’s eyes widened in shock, as if frozen in place.
“How… how would you know…”
She had been so secretive about it; it was impossible for anyone to know!
“Not only do I know, but I also have evidence.” Purple Sumrs sneered, “Jade Carlson, you drugged her drink, and a guest on the boat captured it.”
At these words, Jade Carlson felt as if struck by lightning, unable to recover her wits for a long ti.
Purple Sumrs continued, “Of course, I can understand that compared to the cri of kidnapping children, the cri of murder is much heavier. You cannot afford to make such a grave mistake over a minor issue, can you?”
Jade Carlson’s face turned deathly white, she yelled, “I didn’t kill anyone! I didn’t!”
Fearful that Purple Sumrs wouldn’t believe her, she said desperately, “The drug was given to by Nathaniel Sumrs! It was Nathaniel Sumrs who asked to put it in Suzanne Saunders’ drink, this has nothing to do with ! I was just helping him out!”
A sharp pain shot through Purple Sumrs’ heart.
“You’re saying… it was Nathaniel Sumrs?” she said in disbelief, “Why would Nathaniel do such a thing?”
Jade Carlson, eager to clear her na, told Purple Sumrs everything, “That day was the anniversary of Nathaniel Sumrs and Suzanne Saunders’ New Year. Ever since they got married, they haven’t… they haven’t been intimate, and Nathaniel thought his condition was nearly cured, so he wanted to try… but feared Suzanne Saunders would be unwilling, so he bought so aphrodisiacs. They are husband and wife, doing this… it’s just a little spice! But who could have foreseen that an accident would befall Suzanne Saunders!”
“Nathaniel was ill? What illness?” Purple Sumrs frowned.
Talking about this matter, Jade Carlson looked uncomfortable, her head hung low, “It happened two weeks before their wedding… I went to the Sumrs Family house to retrieve a docunt for Suzanne Saunders. Nathaniel was about to pick up Suzanne Saunders from work, so he drove to the Prosecutor’s Office. On the way, we encountered thugs… Nathaniel was injured.”
Jade Carlson bit her lip, continuing, “He… he was severely injured down there, urgently needing treatnt, but such a matter is a great humiliation for a man. Nathaniel didn’t tell Suzanne Saunders, the wedding went on as planned. I don’t know if it’s because Suzanne Saunders was imrsed in grief over the loss of her grandmother, but she never noticed her husband’s serious injury.”
Purple Sumrs tried to recollect, but the mories in her mind were hazy, she couldn’t rember anymore.
Indeed, during that ti right after marriage, she was living in a daze, constantly crying over her grandmother’s death, completely oblivious to Nathaniel’s unusual behavior…
