When she heard that the other party was already married, Mrs. Graves lost interest in chatting and, after a few perfunctory words, pulled Gerald away to find a suitable match for her son.
Ruth Frazer raised her glass and gently clinked it with Gavin Graves: "I haven’t congratulated you yet, welco to the world of married folks."
Gavin smiled, "Thank you."
After they drank, Ruth’s gaze moved over his long fingers holding the glass, "I heard so ti ago that you injured your hand and were wearing gloves all the ti. Is it better now?"
Gavin glanced down, "Yeah, it’s fine now."
He switched hands with the glass, freeing his right hand to casually move his wrist so Ruth could see.
There was a trace of surprise in her eyes, quickly masked by a smile.
"Take good care of the emperor’s body," Ruth joked, "otherwise, when your subjects panic, who knows what kind of trouble they’ll stir up."
"Of course, health is the most important thing," Gavin said with a slight smile, unflustered, "Last I saw you, you were still abroad. Where’s your husband? Why didn’t he co with you today?"
"Oh, he’s out seeking inspiration sowhere. Who knows which country he’s imrsed in now."
Ruth slightly raised her chin, took a sip of wine, and said nonchalantly, "Those in the art world are like that, disappearing with barely a word, not caring if their families worry... The last ti he ca ho was half a year ago, looking like a vagrant, so unkempt I almost didn’t recognize my husband. Asked him what happened, he ignored and started to work on his art the mont he walked in."
Gavin laughed, "Aren’t you also in the art world?"
"Ha..." Ruth laughed at herself, "He said I’ve grown mundane after marriage, that my work lacks the forr flair. In front of a master, I’m probably just at the level of a common designer... Forget it, talking about this is tedious, let’s talk about you."
Ruth asked him, "How is married life treating you?"
Gavin thought of Cherry’s little sulky face when she sent him off, and a smile crept onto his lips, "Hmm... it’s okay."
Ruth smiled upon hearing this: "It’s not easy, huh? I rember you used to be very picky in this regard, didn’t want anyone not beautiful, not smart, not talented. There was this gorgeous girl who pursued you, and you refused her because you thought her mind wasn’t deep enough. Everyone said you’d be single forever back then."
Recalling the past, Gavin couldn’t help but laugh, "Was I really that picky?"
"Absolutely!"
After chatting for a while, others ca to greet Gavin, and Ruth took her leave in ti.
Before leaving, she said: "I prepared a wedding gift for you, but I was abroad and couldn’t give it to you in person. If you’re available in the next few days, I’ll bring it to your place and maybe check out your new ho?"
Gavin nodded, "Thanks for the thought. Give a call when you’re coming, and I’ll have soone pick you up."
After Ruth left, it wasn’t long before Gerald ca over and asked, "Bro, what were you guys talking about?"
Gavin gave him a curious look, "This is rare, you’re starting to show interest in company affairs. Director Harvey just ntioned the film festival project for next year."
Gerald wiggled his eyebrows, "I was asking what you and Ruth were talking about!"
"Just so casual chat," Gavin responded nonchalantly, "Why are you asking?"
"I feel like she’s not over you yet." Second Young Master Graves had a gossipy excitent on his face, "Her husband disappears at random, and everyone says they’ll divorce sooner or later."
Gavin chuckled, "What does her divorcing have to do with ? Don’t go spreading rumors outside."
"How is this gossip? She’s always liked you," Gerald said, "You used to say you liked talented girls, and she imdiately started learning to paint and even held an exhibition. That’s the power of love!"
