Capítulo 1548: Chapter 1548: Copying Scriptures

Gavin Graves arranged a room exclusively for Cherry, furnished with a set of classic furniture. On the desk were brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. The whole room was simple and elegant, with the only decoration being a painting on the wall and a pot of asparagus on the desk corner.

This room was originally prepared for scripture copying—the simpler, the quieter, the better.

Cherry rarely complained.

Although her face was full of reluctance, she obediently learned when Gavin taught her to write.

Copying scriptures with a brush was indeed difficult for her, so crooked and shaky, with many rare characters she didn’t recognize.

But no matter how difficult it was, she had to write…

During the day Gavin went to the company, and Cherry stayed ho copying scriptures.

When she copied a lot, occasionally she could even morize a few phrases.

Sotis it was sothing like, the soul is tempered, the celestial becos human, the physical form is guided, eternally existent over tribulations…

Sotis it advocated doing good deeds, not killing or harming, not being jealous or envious, not being lustful or stealing, not being greedy or desirous…

In short, even though she didn’t quite understand many anings between the lines, she could sense it was about persuading goodness and guiding people.

While copying, she sighed, “If only I were a foreign evil god, copying the English version would definitely be much easier…”

A few days before the New Year, the Graves Group held its annual eting, which Gavin, as the family head, had to attend.

The lady of the house was also supposed to attend, but Cherry didn’t want to go and insisted on staying ho.

It wasn’t that she didn’t love the excitent, but recently having removed the bandage, a new layer of red skin had grown on her bald wrist, and it looked extrely unsightly.

Just a glance made Cherry wish she could wrap that place up again and never let anyone see it, so how could she possibly wear a sleeveless dress to attend the beautifully adorned annual eting full of beauties?

If she were compared to others, she would be furious.

On the day of the annual eting, Cherry stayed ho to copy scriptures, and Gavin went alone.

Gavin’s siblings, relatives, friends, and business partners who could attend were almost all present.

Mrs. Graves had long been dissatisfied with Cherry’s willfulness. Now seeing her not attending such an important annual eting, she was even more upset, nagging in Gavin’s ear—

“The reason for marrying her was that she could give birth! Now it’s been more than half a year, and there’s been no sign of pregnancy! All that knowledge and virtuousness, it’s all a lie. She doesn’t respect her elders, doesn’t obey rules, and doesn’t even show up at the annual eting—totally outrageous!…”

Gavin said, “She isn’t feeling well today, so I let her rest at ho, and it doesn’t make much difference whether she cos to this kind of occasion or not.”

“How does it not matter?!” Mrs. Graves glared, “Not helping her husband, not networking, why marry her?”

Gavin gave her a faint look.

Mrs. Graves’ expression froze slightly, explaining worriedly, “I’m not trying to interfere with your life, but she… she’s just too much like this. Which family has a daughter-in-law like her?”

“You don’t need to worry about this matter, I have it under control.” Gavin said calmly, “If you have ti, you’d better pay more attention to Gerald. He’s not getting any younger and should start settling down.”

When ntioning that unruly youngest son, Mrs. Graves grew even more worried, sighing repeatedly.

Speak of the devil, and the devil appears.

Gerald Graves ca over with a wine glass, leading a woman to greet them: “Hey, brother! Look who’s here?”

The woman beside him was tall, with delicate features, looking very graceful and elegant.

Before Gavin could respond, Mrs. Graves was already exclaiming with joy, “Isn’t this Ruth? You’re getting more and more beautiful. I rember when you kids used to love playing together!”

Gavin asked, “Didn’t your husband co with you?”

Mrs. Graves was stunned when she heard this, “Ruth, you’re married?”

Ruth Frazer smiled gently, “Auntie, I got married abroad, it’s been several years now.”

“Yes, I rember you married that famous painter.” Gerald asked, “Wasn’t his na Moissanite?”
