Chapter 1404: Chapter 1404: Can Only Leave
Old Master Sumrs inford Janelle Roberts to handle the procedures together, but Janelle always made excuses; sotis she claid to be sick, other tis she said she was out of town and couldn’t make it back, always having a reason. Eventually, she simply vanished and could not be reached.
During this period, Clyde Sumrs returned once. Upon learning that Old Master Sumrs wanted to marry Atra Blanc, he lost control and went to confront Atra, only to scare her into a hasty retreat.
Atra Blanc had her mind set on Old Master Sumrs; how could she accept his son declaring love for her? It would go against moral principles.
Clyde Sumrs confronted Old Master Sumrs, but no matter how the old master explained the prospects for him, Atra’s future, or the reputation of the Sumrs Family, he simply couldn’t accept it!
One was the woman he deeply loved, the other was his respected father, and yet these two people had betrayed him together!
Seeing that the father and son were about to split, the old housekeeper sorrowfully advised him, “Young master, the old master’s health is deteriorating; he probably only has a few years left! Just be filial for once and let the old master have a peaceful old age!”
Clyde Sumrs looked at his father’s increasingly pale face, watching the housekeeper anxiously feed him dicine, bring him water, and seeing Atra rush in from outside, nervously pressing on his father’s chest…
He watched all of this, just watched, watched… ultimately, he weakly closed his eyes.
Despair and pain couldn’t fully describe his feelings at this mont.
Underneath the despair lay anger.
Hidden within the pain was hatred.
He couldn’t force his amnesiac lover to imdiately change her mind, nor could he push the father who raised him to a dead end.
Clyde Sumrs could only leave.
Before leaving, he told Atra Blanc, “As long as you are still here, you will eventually be mine.”
Atra looked at him, startled and trembling.
Clyde Sumrs gave a self-mocking smile and left.
Shortly after he left, Janelle Roberts returned with a slightly bulging belly, proudly claiming that she had thought ahead when she was younger and had frozen Old Master Sumrs’s sperm; she went to the United States for artificial insemination and was now pregnant.
According to the law, divorce is not allowed during pregnancy and breastfeeding periods.
In this way, Janelle could delay the divorce for at least two years.
In fact, artificial insemination had just erged during that ti and was not yet common in the country; people only heard of it through the news.
In order to avoid divorce, Janelle actually went to the United States for artificial insemination and said she stored sperm when she was young… saying such things was truly unbelievable.
But one had to admit, this was indeed in line with Janelle’s style of maxing out on achieving her goals.
She moved back to the Sumrs Residence under the pretense of nurturing the baby. Though Old Master Sumrs detested her, she sensibly did not bother them, pretending to quietly nurture her pregnancy, at most rolling her eyes at Atra Blanc occasionally.
With legal procedures unavailable, Old Master Sumrs held a family gathering at ho to make it official with a ceremony for Atra, marking her as his third wife from then on.
On the day of the ceremony, Janelle watched from afar, coldly observing everyone toasting Atra and muttering to herself, “Shaless vixen…”
Suddenly, there were footsteps behind her. Janelle jumped, turned, and saw it was Dylan Sumrs, the first young master of the Sumrs family.
Dylan Sumrs stared heatedly at her belly and asked, “The child is mine, isn’t it?”
Janelle was stunned for a mont, then furrowed her brows, “Are you crazy?”
“All that artificial insemination stuff, you made it up, right?” Dylan’s face was inexplicably radiant, his tone unusually confident, “It happened that day at the hotel, right? Don’t think you can fool .”
Janelle’s face suddenly turned white.
So months ago, she had t Dylan Sumrs by chance while drinking. Both had a bit too much to drink and ended up getting a room at a hotel… She had long been used to indulgence with little self-control. In retrospect, she regretted it imnsely, and if Old Master Sumrs found out, the consequences would be unimaginable!
“Shut up!” Janelle nervously covered Dylan Sumrs’s mouth, “If you dare ntion that day again, I’ll…”
