Chapter 1248: Chapter 1248

Hans Geoffrey was stunned, his fingers halting as he flipped through the pages, remaining still for a long ti.

Purple Sumrs watched him silently, waiting for a response.

“Manslaughter…” Hans Geoffrey slowly raised his head and asked her, “Will it still be the death penalty?”

“If convicted, you might be sentenced to twenty years.” Purple Sumrs replied.

After a slight pause, she continued, “Of course, the prosecutor won’t easily let us change the charges. I’ll strive for a not-guilty defense, but… Hans, sotis, to be safer, we have to make so concessions.”

“I understand…” Hans Geoffrey gave a bitter smile, “I understand everything. You’re doing this for my good. Serving twenty years in prison is much better than losing my life…”

Purple Sumrs pressed her lips together, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

Both fell silent.

After a while, Hans Geoffrey asked, “Have you talked to my wife?”

“Yes, she has agreed to testify for you.”

“How is she… doing lately?”

“She seems about to give birth.” Purple Sumrs smiled faintly, “When I saw her, her belly was already very big. We don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet.”

“Really, that’s good…” Hans Geoffrey’s face showed a slight smile.

Another mont of silence, Hans Geoffrey hesitantly asked Purple Sumrs, “Has she… remarried?”

Purple Sumrs was slightly taken aback and replied, “No.”

After saying this, she beca suspicious and frowned at Hans Geoffrey, “Why would you think that?”

“She’s so beautiful. If I die, she’ll certainly remarry sooner or later,” Hans Geoffrey’s smile was obscure, “If I die, soone else will marry my wife and raise my child… it’s just a matter of ti.”

Indeed, if Hans Geoffrey died, Abigail Thompson was still young, with a long life ahead of her.

Purple Sumrs finished her eting with Hans Geoffrey and left the prison. Sitting in her car, she watched the trees passing by outside the window, feeling a strange sensation in her heart.

Turning her head to look back, the prison was getting farther and farther away.

Hans Geoffrey was stuck in there, and if they lost the case, the end of his life awaited him.

Purple Sumrs’ heartbeat suddenly sped up.

She took out her phone and called Marcel Jefferson: “Get Calvin and Zev to drop everything and fully investigate Abigail Thompson’s private life. I suspect she has had an affair!”

“Huh… what?” Marcel Jefferson was confused, “What’s going on with this couple? The husband seeks excitent online, and the wife has soone outside?”

Purple Sumrs said, “Abigail Thompson is over eight months pregnant. Normally, no one would suspect a pregnant woman, but Hans Geoffrey just asked if she had remarried, which ans Hans Geoffrey has long suspected Abigail Thompson as well! Maybe there’s no evidence for his suspicions, but if Abigail Thompson really had an affair, everything would make sense!”

If Abigail Thompson was involved, she could know the password to the house, Hans Geoffrey’s drinking habits at night, and could easily find the car keys to hide the body and fra him!

Once we identify this person, the case will take a whole new turn!

Marcel Jefferson led the law firm’s lawyers in searching for clues everywhere. anwhile, the pre-trial motion proceeded as scheduled—

In the courtroom, Purple Sumrs said, “The security guard was the first witness to discover the body, yet no relevant information was provided in the docunts. Why didn’t the prosecution consider the security guard as a suspect? Moreover, in the chat group, a man explicitly told the victim, Sophia Wilson, that he wanted to kill her. He also knew about Sophia Wilson and Hans Geoffrey’s ambiguous relationship, making it entirely possible for him to have followed and killed her. However, none of this was reflected in the docunts!”

Graham Burke, who was in charge of the case, replied, “Your Honor, the police have investigated these people, but they did not find any leads, so this was not included in the files.”

“It’s not that there were no leads, but after the chat group disbanded, the police didn’t continue to pursue this lead and easily gave it up!”

“It’s standard procedure for the police to exclude irrelevant information,” Graham Burke said, “Information not submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office will not be investigated as evidence.”
