Chapter 1226: Chapter 1226
The next day, Allen Rivera t linda Johnson’s live-in boyfriend, Marshall Jones, at the police station.
The guy was quite handso, only 19 years old. Due to his work, his skin was tanned, with a lean yet muscular build. His slightly longer hair hung ssily over his eyes, giving him a rebellious and cool appearance. Despite his untidy look, he was the kind of bad boy that young girls were often infatuated with.
Before Allen t him, the officers had already spoken to him, and it was said that the conversation did not go well.
There was a cynical air about him, as if he brimd with anger towards society, often responding with aggressive comnts.
Having read through the transcript, Allen asked Marshall, “According to your colleagues, you and linda Johnson have been breaking up recently. Is that true?”
“We were arguing,” Marshall replied, tilting his head as he sat in the chair opposite, his face darkened. “Has the prosecutor never been in a relationship? My wife and I have small fights every three days, big fights every five days. That’s how feelings develop.”
Unperturbed by Marshall’s sharp words, Allen continued, “Did you go ho before the incident?”
“No.”
“Did you buy her any nutritional products, like pastries, milk, or vitamin tablets?”
Marshall frowned as he replied, “Why go through the trouble? I hand over half of my salary to her each month. She buys whatever she wants herself.”
Allen was silent for a mont before asking, “Do you think your relationship is good?”
Marshall laughed, “If our relationship wasn’t good, would we elope?”
“Other than you, does linda Johnson have any close male friends?” Allen inquired.
Marshall was taken aback, his complexion darkening further. “What the hell do you an? My wife is pregnant. Do you think she could cheat on with her big belly, or are you suggesting that the child isn’t mine?! Huh?!”
Allen slightly frowned. After a mont, he put down the transcript, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Marshall Jones, linda Johnson died because she drank milk laced with abortion drugs. This ans that the culprit didn’t intend to kill her, but to kill her child,” Allen calmly observed the slightly immature man before him, “Who would harbor a grudge against an unborn child?”
Marshall was stunned.
Allen continued, “It could be a girl who likes you and wants to teach your girlfriend a lesson; or linda Johnson was pregnant with another man’s child and tried to blackmail him, resulting in revenge; or maybe it’s you, unable to bear the responsibility of raising a child, so you drugged her. It could even be linda Johnson’s parents.
This case has many possibilities, and my job is to eliminate them one by one. I understand you have negative emotions due to what happened, but you must realize that your current state is of no help to the investigation. Do you want to catch the real culprit or not?”
Listening to this, Marshall dejectedly held his head in his hands. Slowly, he angrily tugged at his hair.
“No,” after a while, Marshall raised his head. “linda rarely went out after getting pregnant. She only chatted with a few close female friends online. She didn’t have male friends.”
“What about you?” Allen asked, “Do you have female friends? Or any female admirers?”
Marshall was silent for a while and then exhaled, “Yes.”
“Please tell her na.”
…
linda Johnson’s case progressed slowly and did not have any substantial developnt.
Although Marshall had so female friends out of town, they were nothing more than flirtations, with insufficient motive to commit the cri.
As for linda Johnson, she didn’t have any suspicious friends either.
While considering linda Johnson’s case, Allen received results from the Black Rose investigation instead.
