Chapter 1204: Chapter 1204

“There’s a divorce case, and they want my help…” Purple Sumrs explained Camilla Farrell’s intentions to Alexander Sumrs.

“If soone really plans to use this case as a springboard to stir up trouble, I might need to consult Christopher Simonson,” Purple said.

“Camilla Farrell is making a big deal out of it. The national conditions are different, the political environnt is different; those people can’t cause much trouble.” Alexander paused, then continued, “But, her nervousness could be because her Won’s Rights Protection Federation is under a lot of pressure lately. Many people don’t like won’s rights activists and find it easy to make an issue out of them.”

“She said that in the latter half of the year, abortion could beco a proposed bill. If this case is lost in public opinion, it would be a great breakthrough for the conservatives.”

Purple sighed lightly, “It’s quite troubleso. A simple divorce case brings in won’s rights and politics. If I take it on, will it affect Christopher Simonson…”

“Who cares,” Alexander said indifferently, “Even if it becos a proposed bill, the president has legislative veto power.”

Purple glanced at him, “But if the Senate’s support exceeds two-thirds, even if the president vetoes, the bill can still beco law automatically.”

“It’s impossible to exceed two-thirds,” Alexander said. “Once abortions are banned, what will happen to the won who were raped? What about those who can’t carry pregnancies due to dical conditions? And the misguided underage girls, thirteen or fourteen years old, if they get pregnant, should they give birth without an abortion?

Even if the law excludes these groups, how should it be implented? How can a woman prove her pregnancy is due to rape? Do a paternity test on the embryo? But what if the perpetrator is not caught?

Even if the implentation problems of the bill are overco, it’s easy to foresee that it will lead to a large number of abandoned babies. When this happens, can social welfare institutions handle the pressure? How much money is the country prepared to spend on raising these children?”

Purple was enlightened, “Being the mayor really makes a difference; the issues you consider are so realistic.”

“Considering human rights and morals are what great people and thinkers do. Those in power need to prioritize social stability. The enactnt of a law usually triggers a chain reaction, requiring constant andnts and filling gaps, which costs imasurable ti and money.”

At this, Alexander pinched her nose and smiled, “A casino is also a small society, a lot of things are interconnected.”

Purple thought for a mont, “Mrs. Farrell said the court hearing is next month, so there’s enough ti to prepare. But, she said the opposing lawyer’s na is Maeve, seems quite formidable, might catch us off guard…”

Alexander froze slightly, “…Nad Maeve?”

Purple looked at him curiously, “What, you know this person?”

“Maybe it’s soone with the sa na.” Alexander laughed, “I t a female lawyer nad Maeve in France before, she pursued for a while.”

Purple: “…”

Alexander cupped her face and kissed her, “Although she earnestly pursued , of course, my mind and body belong to you. I never spared her a glance.”

Purple couldn’t help but say sarcastically, “A woman chasing a man… quite passionate, huh…”

Alexander’s smile was aningful, “I can’t rember if she was passionate or not. But any woman who dares to pursue must have considerable guts.”

“Hmm.” Purple squinted at him, “And quite a peculiar taste…”

To fall for soone as twisted as Alexander Sumrs, their taste couldn’t be ordinary, right?

“What about you?” Alexander teased.

“I had no choice,” Purple said seriously, “After being force-fed sothing so intense, nothing else tasted right. I just had to keep eating it, otherwise, I’d starve.”

Alexander wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and bent down to kiss her, “You won’t starve.”
