Chapter 1202: Chapter 1202: The Twisted Right to Life (Case)
Purple Sumrs and Camilla Farrell hadn’t seen each other for nearly four years.
Four years ago, Cleo saved Camilla Farrell’s daughter, who was just a baby in swaddling clothes at the ti. Now, she is almost old enough for elentary school.
Ti flies, and though the years have left faint lines on Camilla Farrell’s face, they did not diminish her beauty. Dressed in an intellectual style, she still exudes elegance.
Camilla Farrell brought many gifts, mostly nutritional supplents for postnatal care, which are exactly what Purple Sumrs needs now.
After checking on the child, the two chatted for a while about childcare.
However, a sudden visit probably wasn’t just for sharing parenting tips.
Purple Sumrs smiled and asked Camilla Farrell, “Is there sothing you need this ti?”
Camilla Farrell thought for a mont and then nodded slightly, “There is sothing I’d like your help with, but seeing that you just ca out of puerperium, I’m not sure if it’s convenient…”
Purple Sumrs said, “Go ahead and tell .”
“I would like you to take on a case.”
“I haven’t taken on a case in a long ti,” Purple Sumrs laughed, “It must be a big one for you to co and ask personally?”
Camilla Farrell also laughed, “A few days ago, I called Prominence Law Firm to ask, and Marcel Jefferson said you were unavailable. Given a regular case, we wouldn’t dare to disturb you. But this ti, it’s indeed quite tricky; otherwise, I wouldn’t have co myself.”
Purple Sumrs nodded, “Taking care of the child every day, it’s true that I can’t find the ti.”
“I asked a friend for help, and the court hearing is scheduled for next month,” Camilla Farrell said. “I’ve also consulted several experienced lawyers in the industry; the case itself isn’t too difficult, and we should be able to win.”
These words left Purple Sumrs sowhat confused.
If the case isn’t too difficult, why go out of the way to seek her out? Purple Sumrs wasn’t being arrogant; it’s just that she’s preoccupied with her child every day, so unless it’s a significant case, Marcel Jefferson wouldn’t contact her, and Camilla Farrell wouldn’t trouble her with trivial matters.
Camilla Farrell said, “It’s a divorce compensation case. The wife beca pregnant during the marriage and decided to get an abortion because she wanted a divorce. Now her husband is suing her, claiming his reproductive rights were violated and demanding compensation for emotional distress.”
Purple Sumrs was slightly surprised, “Won have the freedom of choice regarding reproductive rights. There’s nothing to argue here; the judge should dismiss the husband’s claims.”
“That’s how it should be, but…” Camilla Farrell hesitated, then sighed, “The current situation is quite sensitive.”
Purple Sumrs frowned, “Sensitive?”
Camilla Farrell nodded, “You should know, Western values have always been the dominant global values. Recently, the conflict between conservatives and liberals has beco very intense, affecting dostic situations as well. Conservatives are preparing to draft laws to prohibit abortion.”
Purple Sumrs stared wide-eyed in astonishnt.
Camilla Farrell looked at her, finally getting to the point, “This divorce case not only needs to be won, but we must stand firm in public opinion. Otherwise, it will give the conservatives an excuse to push for the anti-abortion law agenda. Purple Sumrs, we need a lawyer with significant influence, and we also need political support.”
Purple Sumrs’ influence was undoubtedly significant, and more importantly, she had Christopher Simonson behind her. Her voice, to so extent, would be interpreted as the president’s acquiescence.
Purple Sumrs pondered for a while, then asked Camilla Farrell, “Is that certain?”
“The opponent’s lawyer is Maeve, who just returned not long ago,” Camilla Farrell said. “She has served as a senior consultant for conservative officials abroad and has always been a leading figure for the conservatives. Such a person is surprisingly representing a man who is a habitual drunkard and cannot afford the fees. The purpose is quite evident.”
Purple Sumrs thought for a mont and said, “Let think about it. I’ll give you an answer by tomorrow night at the latest.”
“Alright, I’ll be waiting for your ssage.”
