Chapter 1150: Chapter 1150 Defendant_1

Milton Fletcher walked to the witness stand, and there was a hushed whisper among the spectators.

He appeared quite refined, wearing glasses and a clean suit jacket, looking every bit the corporate executive—not at all like soone who could be cruel.

From his expression, it was evident that Milton Fletcher was quite uncomfortable on the witness stand, probably because he hadn’t anticipated such a large ss from his actions. There was a look of sha and embarrassnt on his face.

Purple Sumrs asked him, “Mr. Milton Fletcher, do you recognize that elderly lady sitting over there?”

Milton Fletcher nodded, “Yes, I recognize her.”

“How do you know her?”

“I often dine at a restaurant and every ti I’d see that elderly lady, picking up trash nearby…”

Purple Sumrs then inquired, “When you saw her, did you also see a small dog following her?”

This ti Milton Fletcher hesitated before responding, “Yes, I saw it.”

“Could you describe for the jury what kind of dog it was?”

“White… with so mixed fur, looked like a Pekingese mix.”

“Is it the dog in this picture?” Purple Sumrs suddenly held up a photograph for the jury mbers to see.

The sight was so grueso that onlookers instinctively averted their gaze, unable to bear looking directly at it.

Milton Fletcher’s face turned pale as he firmly pressed his lips together.

The defense lawyer was also shocked before promptly standing up, “Objection! Your Honor, the jury is already aware that my client killed the dog; the facts are clear, and there is no need to publicly display such distressing photographs in the courtroom!”

Without waiting for the judge to speak, Purple Sumrs said, “Your Honor, I can change the photograph.”

Having said this, she replaced it with another photograph and then another, each depicting the elderly lady with the small dog, scenes of warmth and tranquility.

Contrasting sharply with the one shown before.

The defense lawyer: “…”

“Mr. Milton Fletcher, is this the dog?” Purple Sumrs asked him again.

Milton Fletcher nodded, “Yes, it is.”

“Could you please recount what happened that day?”

“I was returning from work late at night and went to the nearby restaurant to eat. I ordered a can of beer and then I saw a small dog across the street; it kept watching …” Milton Fletcher slowly began, “I thought it was looking at the can in my hand. I had seen it pick up empty bottles off the road for the old lady.”

“What happened next?” Purple Sumrs asked.

“I beckoned to it,” Milton Fletcher said, “The little dog probably thought I was going to give it the can, so it quickly ran over. I bent down… placed the beer in front of its nose and asked if it wanted a sip, and then it licked it.”

“Just licked it?” Purple Sumrs asked, “According to the police report, your statent doesn’t seem to match that.”

Milton Fletcher pursed his lips, seemingly in so difficulty, then continued, “After it licked the beer, I definitely couldn’t drink it anymore, so… I picked it up and poured the rest of the beer into its mouth.”

Purple Sumrs inquired, “How much did you pour?”

Milton Fletcher shook his head, “I can’t rember.”

Purple Sumrs smiled faintly, “Mr. Milton Fletcher, according to police records, you told the police that you gave it about four cans of beer plus the half can before. Let’s say a total of four and a half cans, shall we?”

Milton Fletcher looked away uneasily, “Suppose so…”

Purple Sumrs continued her interrogation, “What did you do afterward?”

“That dog… it looked sowhat unwell. I put it down, and it…” Milton Fletcher seed to get a dry mouth, pressing his lips together repeatedly, hesitating, “It lay on the ground, convulsing, shaking continuously. I guessed it might be dying, so I gently kicked it with my foot. It rolled over, still convulsing…”

“Mr. Milton Fletcher!” Purple Sumrs suddenly raised her voice, “Please ensure precision in your testimony when describing your actions! Was it a gentle kick, a heavy stomp, or a harsh kick? Any vague testimony could be suspected of perjury!”
